Bowen Customs make a nice product, but this still has the same egress issue all regular bed systems or campers have, which is you need to get on your knees to get in. It needs an entrance 9" forward of the header. This way you could enter from under like a hive.
That was the original design but we proved that it was an incredibly inefficient way to make a production bed. There would be a very large amount of work to modify the frame of the truck and designing a usable receiver hitch would still be in the way.
@@TAVLLC Yeah, unfortunately they don't work. I've literally tried them all (in some cases more than once) and ensured they were put on correctly as well. They all triggered the dummy light. What I mean is an actual locking cover over the cap to not just make it more secure, but also give it a cleaner finish.

I would love to get one of these beds!! I don't need to top cover. I need the bed with tool boxes!! It would be nice to put a chainsaw and recovery gear and extra tools. If I had one of these I could help people stuck on the side of the road!!
My biggest question is how does this affect the payload? Tacoma's aren't exactly 3/4 ton trucks and 1600 lbs get used up pretty quick with the massive amount of stuff that can hold
With every build that is going to carry weight in the vehicle the payload capabilities get addressed. The stock springs and shocks go in the trash and the appropriate spring rate and shock valving is built specifically to support the load it is going to carry. Other things get addressed as well. Differential gearing for tire size, tire size for better support of a heavier load, larger or better brakes and so on.
Pretty sweet. We need an Elon musk at Toyota, Ford, dodge or chevy.... start standardizing a useful functional bed... something like this from the factories than can be mass produced and lower cost. Trucks are already 65k plus. 80k plus if you go diesel.
Puma 12volt air compressor is superior in my opinion mine is at least 5 years old now My dodge truck has 2 batteries under the hood red arch dc/ dc charger 2 100 amp hr deep cycle batteries under the bed with 3500 watt inverter
Hmmm. The oasis in this truck has more than double the hp and the max working psi is 200 as opposed to Pumas 135 psi. Not sure how that is superior. But I’m glad you like your compressor.
once your bed is starting to wear, these are a great option for replacement. But yes, if you will never utilize the storage or features, no need to purchase.

If you can't afford it then what's the point? Wouldn't the objective be to sell alot of them to max profits? I mean if it's a rich guy thing than it's just another cool internet thing.
For some it’s unobtainable and for others it’s not even a drop in the bucket. If you need something in life to support what you love to do then you’ll save the money it takes to make it happen.

The hinges are plenty strong enough to do what is expected of them. If someone were to break one of those hinges then they are doing something they shouldn’t be doing.

Thank you! This is the factory gas cap. You can buy a locking cap at any auto parts store.

Gotcha. This is the first prototype of the bed. The production version looks cleaner than this. A locking cover could be added pretty easily.

There will be a specific bed for the tundra. It’ll look and function the same.

The bed and camper are two separate companies, you can get the bed as a stand alone piece that we can install to your truck.

Is converting a 5’ bed to a 6’ an option?
Theoretically you could extend the frame, but that'd be the only way to do that.

For 17k not bad but it it’s definitely an enthusiast product… I would still buy it if I could just find it to be practical for a daily driver

I don’t understand the crazy prices on aluminum flat beds for Toyotas. More than double the cost of a steel 8 foot skirted Dually bed.

Those door hinges look suspect, weak in appearance.
The hinges are plenty strong enough to do what is expected of them. If someone were to break one of those hinges then they are doing something they shouldn’t be doing.
