    "In this adaptation of Red Hook’s acclaimed Darkest Dungeon video game, you strive to cleanse a manor and its surroundings of all manner of evil: hordes of the undead, foul beasts and eldritch abominations... And, finally, either at death’s door or at your wit’s end, you will have to uproot evil itself from the darkest dungeon.
    Darkest Dungeon is a fully cooperative dungeon crawl game in which players take on the role of adventurers. Although brave and determined, adventurers are only human! They are prone to the madness and pain the twisted dwellers of the dungeons will inflict upon them. Death can occur, but is not the worst fate: heroes can be driven mad and beyond help!
    The game is played in campaigns of 11 missions. To reach the Darkest Dungeon itself, players will undertake 3 missions per threat level and vanquish the boss. Then, they will be strong enough and face the horrors of the Darkest Dungeon! They may emerge victorious... if they dispatch the source of evil that plagues the land.
    For each hero, select 3 skills out of 7 before heading into your mission (and level the heroes up to gain access to more skills). In each room, pick the most suitable stance to best resolve the conflict! Then, on each turn, a player chooses two of the available actions of moving, interacting with the environment, changing their stance or using a skill (if eligible for their current stance). Triumph over encounters, resist rampant madness and emerge victorious before throwing yourself into another battle. Between missions, spend your time in the hamlet, visiting various buildings to find relief from the physical and mental trauma you’ve just endured. Restore the hamlet to its former glory and it will reward you and help you to fulfill the ultimate goal."

    Welp gotta tell the dungeon master about this, me and my friends play DND on discord and our dungeon master is very into darkest dungeon that he made our homebrew campaign pretty much like DDs mechanics with stress and all that, he played the battle music from DD during every combat and the icing on top of the experience is that he has a soundboard complete with all of the narrators quotes.

      Hey Roman! I'd say 15 is accurate. If you take out my explainations of the contents in this video and then add in the organization of the components to get them to the table. It's likely bang on. The production box will also make the setup easy than the prorotype which doesn't have anyway of storing the pieces in an organized fashion. The final verison will be more like 10-15 imo. Cheers!

  • @JPFalcononor
    @JPFalcononor Před 3 lety +6

    It is the complexity of managing four characters for solo play that concerns me. So much of the under the hood mechanics that the computer handles, will now need to be managed by the player. It seems that this potential fiddling will make the game chore laden....if the video game did not exist, this would not be a concern, but as a solo gamer, I am not sure the physical game would be preferable to the already challenging and immersive video game....

  • @JodouTR
    @JodouTR Před 3 lety +2

    Not sure if this is the final character selection available but you're setting yourself up for failure without a healer. Looks like the Vestal is your only choice here so I'd take her as support and drop the arbalest (very weak ranged IMO).
    Put highwayman on the front lines as he can dodge, stun, and riposte if all things carried over from the original game. Jester as tank is fine but too bad they don't have Antiquarian available for that slot. Her defensive move set can make her take reduced damage while protecting others; premo tank IMO.
    Finally, if graverobber has dagger throw available, she's actually super powerful from ranged and can dish out some nasty crits/bleeds. She should have ways to dash to the offensive position as well for another nasty attack, then fade attacks to reset for another. All her moves are incredibly broken when played well.
    All of this may be useless advice if they've changed too much, but not having at least one healer in the party is a mistake and too high risk. Arbalest was always a very weak character in the game because if they ever got pulled to the front lines, you'd lose way too much time getting her situated again. She's absolutely useless when not at least in the third spot.

    • @RollingSolo
      @RollingSolo  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey JK! Love the feedback. These are the characters avaliable for the prototype. Appriciate the feedback and I'll take it into consideration. See you in the next one!

    • @CheddahSlammer
      @CheddahSlammer Před 3 lety +1

      I think your thinking to much of the video game, I don't think its going to be the same. However you don't always need a healer in DD, you could always offset it by buying more food. The Arbalest is good when paired with another marking character then you see great damage being done. Also movement changes with the Arbalest, aren't going to effect her that much when paired with the Jester, grave robber and Highwayman who move.

    • @JodouTR
      @JodouTR Před 3 lety +1

      @@CheddahSlammer I tried to stipulate that depending on how much the rules change the game, a lot of the advice may fall flat. I've beaten DD plus all optional bosses and that was my experience overall. Once I had mastered a setup, I was able to even complete a no-death ruleset run for fun.
      Definitely a perfect game IMO and I would hope the board game was faithful enough to recreate a similar masterpiece.

    • @VojtounCZ
      @VojtounCZ Před 3 lety +1

      The Arbalest definitely isn't very weak, she's typically OK in most situations and can be pretty strong with the right setup and items.

    • @JodouTR
      @JodouTR Před 3 lety

      @@VojtounCZ I'd disagree that late game she is a liability with many monster movesets either having a pull or a rearranging ability. Having to reposition her constantly will lead to ruin IMO.

    This going to drain all my money, I am expecting all areas in the game to be expansion content. This can easily go up to 300$ or more because of all the mini's. Also what is your opinion on having standees instead of mini's for this game? I have seen many that are complaining that its not Standees because they want to see DD character art as Standees.

    • @RollingSolo
      @RollingSolo  Před 3 lety +1

      I think it's completely up to the company creating the game. There are some games I want minis and others I'd rather have standees. Having the option for both is nice but creating the option for both cuts into the ability to create the minis for less which pushes the price on the mini verison up. It's not as easy as just providing the option. It has ripple effects, good and bad. Tough call for any company!
