  • 2002 quad cab Dakota fitted with a 2004 Ram 5.7 HEMI! Originally was a 4.7 auto, now 5.7 with the same 45-rfe auto trans. Can you say SMILES per gallon? Will be for sale shortly.

    You could do this with the stock 2004 4.7 computer. It will run the Hemi, just splice/lengthen the connectors with a donor harness from a hemi truck. Literally about 16 wires to buttsplice/solder and re-loom then you're done. As long as it was an NGC with a 32 tooth tone wheel, the 4.7 PCM can be retuned to run the hemi.

      FrenicX Would that work with the 4.7 in an 05 also?

    I was wondering how you Got the Fly by wire to work. When the Dakota is a Cable Driven Throttle Body.. That's the only thing that is keeping me From jumping on this with my 04 Crew Cab 4x4 Dakota with the junky 4.7..
    I have looked at the BBK 80mm Cable Driven Hemi 5.7L/6.1L/6.4L Performance Throttle Body 1791 But have not found out what TPS and IAC it takes and I have emailed BBK with no help from them.. And the $350 bucks just seem like a lot to spend on a gamble as to if it will work or not..

    4.7 and 5.7 have basically the same combustion chamber. After driving a hemi I still take my H.O. I'd be worried about the 45rfe

    I have a $200 2001 Durango 4x4 non 2wd option with 4.7... I have not checked yet but it should be the 16 tooth.
    I need someone to guide me through a swap. I hear the 5.7 hemi can be swapped. Someone online claims you can use a ram trans module to get extra mpg.
    Someone is selling a 2014 hemi 5.7 with a knock. I hear that might not swap.
    sorry for the loaded comment.
    Otherwise would the 6.1 also swap in?

  • @munostorresautomotriz8952

    we think do something like that but in a dodge van b250 original is 3.9, ill be need a modification in a motor mounts?
    thanks, amazing job!

    So far for me,forums are more confusing then helpful.

    How did the stock trans handle the Hemi? I'm thinking with a shift kit and better converter it'll hold up good. Did the bell housing bolt right onto the Hemi block or did you need a new bellhousing? Wanting to do this swap on my 04

  • @dennyhyer5243

    Did you half to change transmissions also ? Or did it bolt up to factory ? Did you half to modify engine bay to fit ? Cutting welding etc ?

      Denny Hyer same trans original to the Dakota, 2wd under engine crossmember has to be modified to clear oil pan, full custom mounts fabbed, neat thing is that with the dakota 4.7 computer the trans is 4 speed...same trans and the 5.7 computer makes it 5 speed! Love Mopar engineering!

    What a wonderful machine you got there man, hope it gives you many years of enjoyment. Have you considered any exhaust work? You could give it a more aggressive tone and still have good street manners.

    • @xlr8x2
      @xlr8x2  Před 8 lety +1

      +Christopher Pitts no it can be a 2wd engine ,ok will just need a 4wd oil pan and
      oil pickup I believe. I think the. 4wd is even easier than the 2wd, the frame and suspension s wider where the engine sits. go to dakota-durango.com and look at dontshoot69's posts...he threads are what got me motivated to do mine! excellent write ups.also there are members on there that sell the 4wd motor mounts and oil pans...already modified!

      @Phu Doan pretty much. The 239, 318, 360, are the grandchildren of the indestructible Chrysler Light-A engine family. If you want a torquey engine that will run for a million miles a 318 block is the way to go.. To swap a 3.7/4.7/5.7 into it he would need a whole new transmission with the computers to control it. Over all price would be about the same as buying a LSX 427 and throwing a T56 in it. lol aka pointless swap.

    I do bunch of 3.5s in 2.7s Charger,Magnums,300s, so 5.7s in 4.7s are fairly simple..

    • @xlr8x2
      @xlr8x2  Před 4 lety +1

      So you put engines in cars that already come with those engines...and you think it's the same as fitting an engine in a vehicle that was never offered in that chassis. Just clarifying...?

    Just buy this one!! i used durango-dakota - dontshoot69 's build thread for 95% of my inspiration. you will need truck hemi , acc drive, harness, computer,2004 dak fuel pump assy, basic cutting and welding skills, and more advanced wiring and diagram reading skills. not too bad though!!
