I think it's because people haven't heard it. They think Mozart's is the best, because of the mythology. He actually helped himself along a bit with this. Michael Haydn was kind, humble and religious.

Judging by how splendidly this piece was executed by the orchestra and chorus I'd have to say that the conductor did an exemplary job.
