  • in this video i am explaining the simulation of a two stage three phase grid connected solar PV inverter using MATLAB. The system consist of a boost converter followed by a 3 phase inverter. MPPT controller, DC Bus voltage controller, and grid current controller are included in the simulation. Feel free to post your doubts in the comment section.     At 31:50 you mentioned that it is almost 10 kw which is the MPP value at 1000 irradiance. BUT I think at 1000 irradiance the solar MPP is 100 kw NOT 10 kw. It means power loss is tooo much in this simulink model because we are getting 10kw instead of 100 kw. Am I right ?

    just before adding Vd and multiplying it by 2 and dividing by Vdc, Can I know why did you add IQ after the PI control and also why the value of 0.0001 in its omega?

      In decoupled control algorithm, we need to consider the voltage drop across the inductor. In d axis, we add the voltage drop that caused by the q adis current. So the drop is Id*w*L. S0 0.001 is the value of filter inductor

    You mentioned that the grid voltage is 400 and during simulation you set it as 415V.
    Could you please clarify this point?

      No, he didn't enter 415V. At first he was going to set it at 415V but then he corrected it by entering 400V.

      You need to change a lot of things. First of all you need to start by rearranging Boost Converter parameters such as RC-RL values and duty cycle.

    filter cap is 100e-6 then why did u take 1000e-6 in the gain?

      That is not the capacitor value, that is the total inductance value. 500uH + 500uH = 1000uH

Please, I have followed this video and modeled the system but am getting these two errors, " Error in port widths or dimensions. Output port 1 of 'PV_Grid_Connected/From7' is a one-dimensional vector with 3 elements.
    Component: Simulink | Category: Model error
    Error in port widths or dimensions. Input port 2 of 'PV_Grid_Connected/Alpha-Beta-Zero to dq0' is a one-dimensional vector with 1 element."
    Could you please tell me what am not doing right? I have tried debugging it several times but I cannot figure it out.

      I got the same issue before, and I solved it by dividing the signal using mux and demux, you should ignore the warnings about unconnected input/output ports.

    when i tried to run this it shows me an error error in port widths or dimensions. 'Output Port 1' of 'pv/From7' is a one dimensional vector with 3 elements. and in demux when i left the 3rd connection point empty again it show that the third one is not connected

    1) I'm modelling a microgrid, with a 4kw PV array (2x9) can this methodology be used for this type of project? Only looking at Grid-tie mode, for power balance studies.
    2) Can't get the boost converter to work with my parameters, voltage doesn't steady and keeps rising, any ideas?

      1. Yes you can use this methodology for your application.
      2. May be there is error pi tuning of the controller. Also check the designed values of inductor

    Why do you write Gain = 2*pi*50*1000e-6? How this 1000e-6 comes from?

      @@mustafacakr3121 in LCL filter you have 500 + 500 = 1000. This is total inductance of the output. In comments TECH Simulator explained this question.
