❤️❤️ reminds me some Michael Stearns or Steve roach ambiances ! Well done 👍
Sounds amazing! Cheers :-)
The blofeld is truly the most powerful synth in its pricerange and stands on its own again more expensive synths. Its like a Q and an XTK in one sleek elegant box.
I agree 100%!
Beautiful nice sounds 👍
Thank you 😋
That synth takes some beating!
Sure does!
Very beautiful patch! Nicely done! 👍😊
I think the Blofeld is an amazing Synth for Ambient!
😊
Thanks a lot! I think so too :)
It's an amazing synth period. It wouldn't be my first choice for, say, a grand piano, but between the VA, the wavetables, and the sampling option, plus the great number of filter and mod options, there isn't a whole heck of a lot it won't do. Which, I guess, begs the question why I haven't broken down and bought one yet? :D
Came for auska figure, stayed for the lovely blofeld pads. You have both a great taste in anime and in synths.
Thanks friend!
Fantastic job! I almost sold my blofeld! I need to warm up to it more. It sounds unbelievable. She’s a keeper thanks to you!!!
Glad I could convince you to hold onto it haha, it's a future classic in my opinion.
Nice! Sweet blofeld :D
Thanks! Yours is sweet as well :)
Very nice!
Thanks :)
Very cool ambient music! Subscribed.
Awesome, thank you!
@@ascetik Would you please also share the parameters of your awesome patches in your vids? By the way, can't take my eyes off the awesome figurine next to the Blofeld!
Blofeld 💪💪💪💪
Really nice! Considering getting one of these to compliment my Digitakt. Would you recommend the Blofeld in 2023, given its age? I know a good sound is a good sound forever, but I mean compared to features available today, interface etc. Also, is your video pure Blofeld or any effects boxes e.g. reverb? Thanks!
The Blofeld is still relevant today for its sound quality, features and value. You get an awful lot of sound sculpting and features for not a lot of money. The interface is subjective, I personally love it, but some people don't. If you're used to using Elektrons then you should be fine. I think Elektrons have just as much menu diving as the Blofeld does. The Blofeld has a nice big screen and graphical representations of a lot of things such as filter slopes and envelopes that change in real time as you adjust them. I never felt the need to use an editor for the Blofeld, whereas I do with the Analog Four/Keys due to its small screen. It's also a perfect pair for a Digitakt or Octatrack because you can take advantage of its multi-mode with the Digitakts midi sequencer and control/p-lock it with the Digitakt via midi CCs. There are other similar synths to consider though, such as the Hydrasynth, Argon 8 and Novation Peak.
The video is not pure Blofeld, it has reverb applied in Ableton. The reverb on the Blofeld isn't that great unfortunately.
@@ascetik Thanks very much for the info! Yeah the Hydra is the other one I'm considering, since you mention it. Like the Blofeld, that too is an awful lot of sonic potential for one affordable (if you get the Explorer) synth.
Beautiful sounds! Now that you have had some time with it, are you still enjoying it? Have you run into any issues with limitations on the polyphony?
Yes I still find it amazing what it can do and how it sounds. I've never run into any polyphony issues, even my most complex patches have at least 6 voices, which is plenty for me most of the time.
This is amazing. I wish I could make such preset with my Blofeld but it is little bit too complex for me. What is the signal path? Any effects?
Thanks! The Blofeld is pretty amazing, it's my desert island synth. The signal path is just the Blofeld into Soundtoys Little Plate reverb. The patch is actually not that complicated. It's just a sawtooth and a wavetable (can't remember which, maybe Mellow Saw?) and the filter is a fairly closed 24db LPF with moderate resonance and slow attack and release times. Basic pad recipe. The secret sauce is the filter FM from one of the oscillators and a healthy dose of filter drive (tube) and lowering the oscillator volumes to compensate. Also, a slow, random LFO directed at the pitch of the oscillators. You could even have two random LFOs at different speeds and direct one of each to oscillators one and two respectively for more pitch variance. If you want to add some more spice you can add some subtle filter panning, but this was recorded in mono.
I think in this patch I used the third oscillator (possibly a sine wave) with its volume at zero to FM the filter, that way you can adjust the pitch of that oscillator to effect the filter without drastically altering the base sound of the oscillators.
@@ascetik thanks for the explanation. I will try it 😉
Is this based off a preset or did you synthesize the patch? the pad at the beginning is my ideal pad! been looking into the blofeld lately but haven't bought it yet
Good question, it's been a while since I made this so I can't say for sure. It's possible it's based off a patch but if it was I would have tweaked it. Patches like this come naturally to the Blofeld with little effort. This would have just been a couple of wavetable oscillators with either the LP 4 pole or PPG filter, some tube filter drive and filter FM, likely coming from a third sine wave oscillator. Obviously a slow attack envelope, and knowing me I had a couple of really slow LFOs modulating the wavetable positions. Hope that helps!
cool..--,
