Oh my this is freaking awesome. Im in the exact same boat I did not realize the immense value in our tradition and culture until I moved out of the my Rez. Now living urbanized. You know it would've fascinating to ask someone from another old culture and traditions like from India what's the world they use fir things like graph cause it's probably not exactly graph but something they use to describe it

I think that Dr. Anton Treuer has made great efforts towards preserving the language as well as creating a good learning environment and a good education for the students in the immersion program. He is working under extreme pressure - time. 70% of the most important elders that were helping him with his work had passed away already. This was aired in 2010, meaning another 11 years have gone by. So much hard work and dedication went into creating the immersion program. Everything must be translated into the correct Ojibwe language prior to being taught. It is an extra step that most teachers do not have to take. I would really be interested in a follow up on the immersion program. How has the program grown? Are there more Ojibwe immersion programs in the state? Are there other ways that the Ojibwe language is being brought into schools?

Dr. Treuer has a CZcams channel if that helps.
I don't know about the progress of this immersion program, but I know that St. Cloud Public Schools will introduce beginner-level Ojibwe language courses next year (and if they get enough investment, they'll consider adding more advanced courses).

Boozhoo, mno-kizheb, aaniin. Miigwetch for taking the time to make this. I'm a non native doing my best to learn how to speak anishinaabemowin. It's such an incredible language and culture, everything about it connects with my very being and spirit, as well as being the homelands of where I'm from so it makes sense to learn THEIR language and not just the one forced onto them. I'm truly ashamed of the attempts to outright exterminate them. Especially considering that my family definitely had direct actions against the native First Nations back in the day. I hope that perhaps learning, both culturally and linguistically, will I be able to right some of the wrong of the past. I wholeheartedly believe that the language can and will be revitalized one day with many, many speakers. Hopefully myself included! Miigwetch again for all the great work and wisdom! Baamaapii miinwaa kaawaabmin!

Bozhhoo, Sabé Indiginikaaz, Migizi Endodem, I'm learning as well. Language and culture. I'm 3rd generation domesticated since we were put on reservations and registered like cattle and dogs! I'm not from a reservation and the government's through the UN and the Wuhan China, Fauxchi GATES JABS and disease came from them rich and evil Bildeberg Group, UN Agenda 2030. Our freedoms are not done being fought for and the rights and freedoms are always under the federal government's thumb! Not this guy. Maybe an FBI watch list. As I'm a encyclopedia, as my ancestors, nothing written but volumes of knowledge. Good luck learning and study and use often. Miigwich and much love to you, 💐 👣🦅🐢😮💐

From the thoughts of autisum spectrum commuity,, (no indigious roots claimed) The core internal expression roots of any language hold a massive impact upon where we come from , and who we are and how we "See" and "Hear' and "Speak" , in taking a critical look at my own langage and the roots of the interwoven infulences that where brought into it from other european languages and carryed with us around the world , for example "why in english does the word "Animal" when broken down into its three syllbols contain the word --> "Mal" on the end ? that internal infulence sounds awfully disrespectful of all then non Human relations and understanding where that infulece orignates I feel is very important. where is that rooted ? and why would any instution embed that ? (Do a latin translatiion on that phrase many will be suprised) why are its internal expresion layers and ways of thought so "Dualistic" ? (And That is a deeper subject in itself) the internal roots of most indigious languages are Verb based and would absolutly in expression never do that , the internal embedded layers of recognition within the language roots just dont come from those layers of expression. thats not who one is , forcing ones expresion out through the infulence Layers of English has to come to impact ones personhood and even ones ways of thinking over time and thats the deep concern. most of us are unaware. And given the "awareness of these layers" I beleve english will slowly evolve to address these layers over time , but it is a real struggle , and the deep importance of the perservation of Ojibwe language lies within the essence of perserving ones core expression as a living being. where does internal embedment like that originate from , idology instututions , and examples like Genesis 1:28 , those layers are encoded inside the infulence layers of our langage. and they hold impact upon ones peoplehood and personhood. the verse "In the reality of many realitys , How we "see", What we see, effects the quality of our reality. comes to mind , Or language expression roots play a huge role in this.
