The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET-UG is an entrance examination in India, for students who wish to study any graduate medical course (MBBS/ dental course (BDS) or postgraduate course (MD / MS) in government or private medical colleges in India.NEET-UG (Undergraduate), for MBBS and BDS courses, are conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). NEET-UG replaced the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) and all individual MBBS exams conducted by states or colleges themselves in 2013. However, many colleges and institutes had taken a stay order and conducted private examinations for admission to their MBBS and BDS courses.
Undergraduate courses at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, Postgraduate Institute for Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research JIPMER are outside the NEET’s purview, as these institutes were set up by separate laws.[1]
3:34 both state and CBSE syllabus are almost covers the same topic. Even if you convert to CBSE but still make students to rote learn and not add problem solving / application knowledge, you will still face the same trouble.
3:52 : Medical colleges are always controlled by the central institutions. There was UGC to control universities. Guidance can be standardized across all universities. Even for the medical colleges in every state govt, central govt issues fund for construction and maintenance. So Medical colleges are not completely owned by State Govt. Even if it happens so, Central govt is there to ensure standard of the medical college so doctors graduated from one state can freely practice in another state
4:16 : only 15% of seats of TN is given to other states or central pool. 85% is filled by TN students. But TN students also get back 15% from every other state. Don't you want TN student to get seats in AIIMS or JYPMER ? So overall all states pools in 15% for common ground which i think is the right approach. Again we can stop giving that but we also stop getting that.

5:41 : There is lies, utter lies and then statistics. That number that 65% of rural student got into medical college was wrong . Only 0.7% went into medical colleges before NEET. Do yo think private schools and city schools did not switch to state board for 11th and 12th only ? The amount of poor or middle class students getting into higher courses always improves with the common entrance exam (like i did ) because they don't have to fight with money. They only need appropriate training which middle class is somehow managing by themselves but govt schools is not getting that. Problem with the method of teaching and way exams are conducted till 10th.
5:51 Out of 3K+ seats in TN in 2019 only 965 was for OC and even in that 800+ was given to BC/MBC . So the real % of seats occupied by upper class in 2019 is very very low like 3%. The problem is how the rest 69% is distributed. There is no separate concession for rural folks or backward poor students. So we should fix that first.

Why not provide NEET coaching to them . We are spending almost 20K Cr every year on education in TN . Why not spend some additional revenue from Tasmac for providing NEET coaching center as part of school ? It will be free , better than coaching centers . Also there is free NEET coaching by NTA medicine.careers360.com/articles/neet-free-coaching and there are tons of youtube video available. So easy to provide necessary coaching via CZcams and other channels today. Please dont think only in person coaching is best. My niece and nephew goes there . Mostly they watch prepared videos and take tons of test.
6:18 coaching centers are not looting. They are doing appropriate business. Why can't schools provide the same coaching with little extra cost. All the private schools are also charging very high fees on students as per your statement.

Quality of TN eduction and Govt schools dropped . Why should SC provide separate path for us if we did not do our job correctly. The fundamental problem is that we do not have high quality medical colleges or engineering colleges and students are forced to compete with each other. Even reservation category has high competition nowadays. But what other options you have ? To rely on the state board exams which are too easy and does not grade students properly where paper can be easily chased and politicians control the allocation ? Thats why single entrance exam with MCQs were introduced. I think state board should remove their tests which are useless and does not provide any signal to the job market - remove pass / fail . Just use one entrance test like how China is using or use continuous grading mechanism like USA. Personal accusation will only give you an illusion. Building solution and working with everyone takes time. Personally i taught some rural students (for maths) and they were damn brilliant and with right guidance they can easily be taught to crack any tough exam.

If neet exam conducted to test your eligibility for courses ,then what about students enter through deemed University and self financing.for poor students they wanna get 600+ in neet and for rich only 125+ ?...it's the way of equalising??? Exactly there isn't much of a difference in state board and CBSE syllabus, it is just that most of the students don't study by understanding the concepts. They just memorise the answers without understanding the concepts, the main reason why Tamil Nadu produce Unqualified engineers

A good student studies well and takes challenges be whatever be the curriculum and medium of learning. The hallmark of a good student is hardworking and perseverance. Abdul Kalam was from a poor family. He studied under streetlights and became NSA and 1st Citizen. Everyone is not AK but everyone has time and opportunity. Taking entrance exams training is not compulsory or mandatory. Many people do it IIT JEE. People go to training for getting into top tier MBA schools. So the idea of a common entrance and coaching for the same is not new here. That's not a drawback. Have u seen gentleman movie. Even baasha movie and sivaji ..movies. clear showcase of what was prevalent was selling a doctor seat. Many NRIs children get admitted in Medical Colleges at 8th standard. That's how private colleges run by so called political philanthropists were doing. If there is a stop to that then this is welcome step. If central government is trying to equitably distribute seats it is not wrong. They are enabled by the very same provisions which enable reservation. That is social and demographic inclusion. As a government they are doing their job. The Dravidian parties in particular DMK which brought the samacheer kalvi has to answer this. Not central government. Time...u can be asking for ever and do nothing... Allow ur mlas to open colleges and mint money at cost of the Tamil population and citizens. There must some sense and justice in what we do and say. In the name of so called Dravidianism the DMk has ruined the life of our children. But their children grand children are all living very well. They study Hindi. They run cbse schools. What year... Stop this NEET nonsense. Nowhere in the world medical school admission is purely based on a three hours test like NEET THAT IS BASED ON PRIVATE COACHING. A study was conducted in Australia (Med J Aust 2008 Medical school ion criteria and the prediction of academic performance) about the relationship between medical ion based on year 12 marks, entrance tests (GAMSAT score) and interview. The result showed that year 12 score is most strongly associated with best performance of students in medical schools, followed by small impacts of interview score and written test (GAMSAT score). The conclusion is year 12 marks are the best indicator of quality of better medical students than written test like NEET that has negligible impact on improving the quality of medical education. Then why so much waste of time and money by poor parents? Why unnecessary pressure on our students and parents? A study in the USA (Acad Med. 2013 May88(5):The predictive validity of the MCAT exam in relation to academic performance through medical school: a national cohort study of 2001-2004 matriculants).The study concluded that a combination of Year 12 marks (+UGPAs) and written test (MCAT) total scores are strong predictors of academic performance in medical school through graduation. Further, these relationships generalize across medical schools.
