I grew up in a Japanese household.This kind of thing is very common.I experienced it as well as many of my Japanese friends.
🎉When I was younger, my parents told me I was adopted, not because they treated me any differently than my two sisters who are their biological daughters, but so that I would know that I was special because I was chosen. However, I had it all twisted in my mind. Because I, like most adopted children, had abandonment issues and a lack of self-esteem, in my teens I felt like my parents loved my sisters more than me. It wasn't until I had children of my own that I realized my parents never treated me any differently than my sisters. If anything, they put up with a lot more negative behaviors from me because they understood it was all rooted in my abandonment issues from my adoption. I love my family so much now and I am so lucky I was chosen by my wonderful family.

I basically got told im too much of a risk because my sister didn't last in college. I wish i was more hard-headed and went to a trade school anyway and told my parents F off.
In 1982 my grandfather passed away and I no doubt was his favorite he left my dad a house and he left my aunt a house and he left me 75 thousand well the same year my brother got in a lot of trouble and he was facing a lot of jail time and no one wanted to come and ask me to help him but my aunt did he needed a 100 thousand so I didn't even see a penny of that money but it helped him and we never got along and we probably only seen each 3 or 4 times In forty years but I guess helping family was the right thing to do but he had the rest that he needed and everything worked out for him so I didn't miss the money because I never had it I just signed it over.
I truly know how he feel, because I am in the same situation myself with my husband who only thinking of his self. I only have God in my life with my situation, and trying best to keep my head flow through this difficult time in my life.
There is favoritism in my family, but I quickly make it known I hate it, despise it, and want no part of it.

OP parents tried to make it work but OP was unwilling..story was not doing it for me.
I wouldn't forgive them, either. They tried the staunch a gaping wound with a bandaid. His parents only backtracked because they lost an income stream later in life. They played favorites, so I agree with Thomas's choices.
