I had been saying for a few years that Ronnie had had his time and I doubted that he would win another world title but I am so glad that I was wrong. Nobody could now possibly argue that he is the best player that ever played the game and I was so glad that the great Stephen Hendry, said that he was honoured to share the seven Title record with Ronnie and that it was an honour. I very much doubt that the seven will now ever be beaten. Ronnies century record will be beaten because of the number of tournaments that are now played all over the world.
Ronnie has been in the game for 30 years and he is still quite young i think maybe he will play till like 60 - 65 years old , and I see him winning another 3 world titles or more dont be suprised , He is the GOAT for a reason
It would not surprise me to see him play into his 50s…. 60 - 65 might be a bit of a stretch but we’ll just have to wait and see… He is the G.O.A.T and he is the reason i watch snooker…

@@nobodyspecial6436 That is what they said about Stephen Hendry and Steve Davis but both reached that peak and retired. Jimmy White was a genius player but he also reached the limit and Ronnie, I think will retire before he falls off of the edge. Fred Davis played very well until hi mid sixties but that was a different time with fewer players. I don't think that we will see Ronnie play on after 50 but I would love to see him take the eighth title before he does retire, I think that he is looking forward to just being a pundit for Sky.

Snooker may be the most difficult game to play well (harder than even golf). These guys are just machines. They make it look so easy. The Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto used to have a snooker tournament every year that would attract all the best players in the world including Cliff Thorburn of Canada who was #1 or #2 during that era, Alex Higgins, Steven Hendry, etc. It was a thrill to watch them play live. The skill level and precision is just ridiculous. I saw Thorburn make a 147 break in person. O'Sullivan or anyone who wins the world title has to be absolutely incredible. To win it 7 times is staggering.

there are many sports out there and there are many great players in each of those sport that spark the debate who is the greatest of all time. Very rarely come a player like Ronnie who is so on top of everything that make it so easy for everyone to accept he is the greatest.

Nah he wanted to win 100% but i'm 100% certain the film crew would have added pressure to perform which when he is under pressure probably perorms better than anyone! barring Selby. Im also certain he knew this was his realistic last chance to hit 7. Age isn't kind.
Ronnie works best under negative pressure. It's a kind of reverse/reverse psychology with him. Fascinating sportsman.

I've never understood why the audience claps when a player makes a ball that is not difficult to make? Case in point, when 2 reds are a dead shot into a pocket. All the player has to do is make contact hard enough with the first red and the second goes in. Zero thought and strategy went into that decision for that shot.
