It's because Claude was just as crazy as her. CJ was a cold hearted killer but he still showed empathy and remorse for his actions sometimes. Another thing about the older GTA games is the lack of checkpoints. It was annoying to restart a mission from the very beginning just because you made a misstep.
Guys, you could literally drive across the entire map in less than 5 minutes, it really wasn't difficult knowing where to go or restarting the 3 minute long missions with no checkpoints.
On the ios and mobile version there is a map
It ain't that hard. You should see GTA2, which is an over-view game (no map nor radar). Now that's difficult to navigate, unless you have a map printed on paper.

Yes indeed! Damn I had the time with my life with this. Some people said that GTA 2 was the best game ever. I liked it but GTA 3 blew my mind though VC was superb. I think people should know the gaming history since HD games today will be disliked for its graphics and features after 20 years from now.

Modern games are really missing something these days. Too focused on graphics and it doesn't have that same effect anymore. Older games were amazing.
I thought GTA IV and it's expansions were pretty good. Not as good as the GTA games of the PS2 but still great.

I like the jazzy sountrack used in GTA III
There was NOTHING quite like being a teenager and huge videogame fan in your first play through this revolutionary game! I was totally amazed by the game's freedom, realistic life simulation, physics, radios and how simple and amazing the idea of turning to different stations depending on your own mood was. This game had the talento to grab you by the neck and simply not let you go as you'd always come back for more and more... unbelievable! Thank you for making my life better, rockstar games!!!

Alot of you may already know this but that intro cutscene actually exists in the game and all the buildings are 2D textures. In fact if you pause at 2:02 you can see the void next to one of the buildings as this area is just in the middle of the void I believe. This area is commonly referred to as the Ghost Town.

The year of GTA San Andreas was set in 1992 and GTA III is in 2001. So Catalina and Claude after leaving SA together to Liberty City, they spent 9 years robbing banks or whatever it is in Liberty City, so why they don't get mentioned in GTA LCS who's set in 1998? I just remember to seeing Miguel* in a cutscene talking with Tony Cipriani. ( *Catalina's lover in GTA III ) .

This is a true GTA game in my opinion, I miss the dark feel of it so much. I dislike GTA 5's light hearted story and atmosphere, it makes it feel less serious and more of a joke story. I hope the next GTA can have a darker and more badass feel to it like this game does.

Something that I always found funny about this game, was in the mission "Arms Shortage," Phil says he lost his arm in "Nam" but if you played Vice City, in "Boomshine Saigon" He loses it on some dumbshit playing with Bombs when you go see him. He must have been really screwed up in the blast mentally to switch the story up, or he feels ashamed to have lost his arm in that way haha
Also his left arm is missing in GTA 3 but his right one gets blown in Vice City.

Simple features, silent character, late 90s 3D graphics, almost no profanity, very little explicit content, and not so violent. Brings back the joy of childhood, where sandbox style games are not too violent and controversial compared to the present day's games.

I feel like with newer graphics we lose artstyle. Look at the color palette and atmosphere in this game! So unique, you wouldn't mistake it for another game.

I found a ps2 at my local flea market in great condition so of course I went for it and bought it I got gta 3, gta vice city, call of duty finest hour, madden 08, ncaa football 2005, fifa soccer 2004, nba 2k11, and backyard baseball and it’s so much fun being able to play the old games again:)
I remember back when playing GTA III, I had the actual paper map of Liberty City in front of me during the first weeks of playing, because besides the little minimap there was no big map in the menu! Those big ‘ol paper foldout maps were also very nice btw! It suited the atmosphere of PS2 games; a nice and crisp cd-box with an actual manual inside, including a map. Those things barely could close, lol!

Hear me out... I come from a very poor family with strict parents. Never had a chance to have a PC or a gaming console. Anyway in 2013 at 19 I bought my first smartphone with my own money. I really wanted to play an open world game since a little kid. I tried installing Gansta Vegas games on my phone but they all failed after like a minute of gameplay. I was very frustrated. Then I discovered GTA III.... and it worked. With no lag or crashes. The moment I started exploring Portland Island was unforgettable for me. Going through my first missions... It was soooo much fun and excitement. Even though I was playing a 12 year old game. I will never forget GTA III and watching this brought back so many memories.
This game had magical atmosphere. Even the later entries don't quite have it.
This is and ALWAYS will be my most favourite game ever and nothing can change it. This is the one that changed the series forever. Without it, vice city and san andreas wouldn't even exist!

haven't played this game in a good 8 years and yet I still know how to navigate the whole city.
After playing straight GTA and GTA 2 for months, when GTA III came out, and I first played it, I nearly crapped my pants on how AMAZING the graphics made the game look. I had never imagined a GTA game capable of putting you RIGHT there.
I've looked for this game! so happy I found it! it was amazing
