Great and detailed review. Question - How can you use FORCE MOBILE (where you can control the gimble's direction with your phone) and zoom in/out from your phone (with the FOCUS MOTOR installed)? The plan is to have the gimble set up say 25 feet away and be able to control pan, tilt and ZOOM from your phone or tablet? This way, you can assemble the gimble on a mobile tripod away in a corner and you 'remote control' it all from your phone? Thanks a million.

Thanks for this. That was an excellent point by point tutorial. I just received my new gimbal and printed the manual and couldn't even find anything about mounting or using the Raven's Eye on the DJI site. Maybe I was just looking in the wrong places, so was so happy to find your excellent tutorial. I do have a couple of questions. Assume the Raven's eye should be fully charged first to not draw down the gimbal battery needlessly? The track functions are available on the screen of the gimbal itself without a phone? I do have the phone mount, but would normally have a 7" monitor mounted for production purposes. I normally transmit video to clients watching a monitor or over Zoom to clients in other cities due to pandemic. Can I transmit Raven's eye to a laptop as well that client's could view instead of an HDMI monitor? Will the tracking hold when your key object goes behind something, say a power pole, etc. There was no way with the old track of overcoming foreground objects. Thanks

I have been looking for a video covering the RavenEye but have a few more question. I did not see any coverage of the RavenEye having a histogram display so is the only method to use false color or zebra? I am surprised that there is not a method to auto focus lenses that already have that option I have used a system from CamRanger that you tap on the screen of the phone to select your focus point, just want to make sure I am not missing any thing. One last question is there a on screen control on the phone where you could control the Focus Motor on a zoom lens. Can you rotate the camera into portrait mode from the phone? I do still photography on a 17 meter mast it’s sooooo close to having everything I would need. Sorry for all the questions.

Great video....How do you connect a field monitor to the gimbal properly? Ive connected it using a magic arm and the problem is that the monitor must be plugged into the camera's HDMI port. The cables that do this are typically thick. Once connected, this throws the weight/balance of the camera and ronin. It will also tug the cable if the camera is panning because as the HDMI port of the camera is moving, the field monitor is attached and stationary. How do you get around this?

Thanks for this video. I just bought the DJI RS2 as my first Ronin Gimbal and I have been lost for 3 days trying to work out how to do this. I have the Sony a7III and some of the tools in the app you show for your canon don't seem to show up for me. Notably the Iris, Shutter, and ISO don't seem to be changeable from the Raven eye app on my iPhone. They don't show up like yours did. Also the camera record on and off doesn't work with the app/iPhone, nor does the Cache thing you talk of work either.. DJI have made an incredible gimbal here but they suck at showing people how to set it up with the camera and Raveneye. So I thank you for your video which has taken me to a next step. But i still have issues. Just a tiny bit of feedback.. you might want to light yourself and the camera from the front when making a video like this because your image blacks are blocked up, making it hard to see where you plug cables in.

Shouldve lead with "you cant use the Ronin App to connect with the gimbal and the Raven Eye at the same time"

  • @vahomatphotographyllc8079

I bet you five bucks if you have your Canon connected to Raven and do you push play or menu button it will only show you that in a tiny little DJI screen and not on your camera screen Let me know if it's not the case with you I'm using EOS R with 28 to 70 F2
