    I own a Seiko Turtle for which I paid $400. I then paid $70 for a Strapcode bracelet and $100 to buy/install a sapphire crystal. Helm uses the same movement and is also ISO cert...but has better finishing, crowns, casebacks, bezels, lume, crystals, bracelets, and WR. Plus they come with a NATO...all for $275-300?? This Matt guy is either the best or the worst businessman in the watch industry :P

      @somarpr Před 4 lety +1

      @ThisnThatPackRat I Agree 500% with you. Helm is a waste of time, why? They just do what keeps them getting the money that matches their type of living. That's it. When things go low on them they plan a new 200 run and put the bait in at 2300z time. They just finished a fishing spree that started a 2300 on 15 May. I just looked how even their server got stuck and never updated, from 2 computers one in vpn both at 200mb/sec. They just need 60kminus cost and the gains is just what they need. I cannot understand that way of running a "business" which I think is not. Meanwhile hundreds and who knows maybe more than that just wasted an hour or more of their time amd though again maybe next time.

    I admired the Vanuatu when I first saw it (subconsciously loved the Sinn U1 aesthetics I guess) and was let down when they didn't follow up with those grown up subtle good looks with their next watch. But then I started to like the Khuraburi a bit more since it at least seems to have its own character. So, both have their drawbacks (like almost every micro) on otherwise feature rich packages.

    The Khuraburi really calls to me. I may never be able to dive again, but divers still make up all I buy and wish for. I no longer have to dress up and have a couple of watches that work for those yearly occasions. That lume would annoy my wife, but she eventually gives in to my watch eccentricities. Nice comparison. I wouldn’t kick either of them out of bed!👍

    I have never had a chance to own or even look at it personally, but they look really really great FOR THE PRICE.
    if you are a big and strong man or who likes to wear a big watch, this really represents King Kong of Sub style watches.
    And even though they are taking after some Homage of few watches, they have their own style, specially the bracelets.
    Jody, as you said, it is amazing that they were able to produce different styles of bezels, casing...etc even thought their line up is very limited. that kind of shows that they know what they are doing and what the consumers want.
    I wanted to buy Vanuatu, but always sold out. Hopefully I can get one soon.
    thanks for great review. I always enjoy your watch reviews.

Hope you spent your kickback on something fun. :) I disregarded my 44mm minimum requirement on my 6" toothpick wrist for the exceptional value of the Vanuatu. • @chrispeek380
    @chrispeek380 Před 6 lety +3

    I ordered the Vanuatu based on your prior review of the watch. I also ordered some extra leather straps as they seemed to be pretty robust and once received was not disappointed. It's a nice watch and I have no complaints. The only "niggle" is that the metal bracelet clasp once locked takes a LOT of force to disengage and you can't just easily pop it up with a finger tip but have to not only use your fingertip but also grab both sizes of the clasp and pull.
    The value proposition of the watch is compelling when compared to other microbrands who want $500-$1000 for similar (or even lesser) specs. For Helm watches they may be considering in the future I think some applied vs painted dial indices would be nice, but I'm sure there's a cost to that.

    Picked up a Khuraburi and loved it so much I had to get myself a Vanuatu as well. Now if I add to this the Nezumi Voiture, Glycine Combat Sub and the Hamtun H2 Kraken (still on the way) that I've also purchased based on your reviews since discovering your channel in March I'd say you have fantastic taste as well as being one silver tongue devil of a salesman. Now I'm going to stop watching for a little bit so this almost overwhelming new desire I have to pick up a Stowa Flieger dies down and allows my budget to catch up. Cheers.

    I put my name on the list for the Vanuatu a couple years ago and forgot about that fact so the wait turned out not to be a hardship. One day out of the blue I got the email it was time to pay for my Vanuatu. I think it was close to a 11 month wait. Let me tell you I love this watch. I have moved to an army green nylon strap which feels just perfect to me. If you have any attraction to it's asthetics, get it!! The quality is superb. Oh and mine keeps between +1 and +2 a day since I've had it. It's a winner.
    Btw, my Rolex Submariner has been become a safe queen since I got the Vanuatu. The Khuraburi calls to me but its just a little loud. I may get on the list for it anyway. I'm sure I'll forget and again be surprised one day that I have another really nice watch ready for me,

    I'd love to see Helm come out with a watch that mixes both of these. The dial and handset of the Vanuatu, the bezel of the Khuraburi, on a Vanuatu-sized case with the crown at 4:00 (or 10:00) like the Khuraburi, using the engineer bracelet.
    That being said, Vanuatu for me by a nose, although it's a really close call. The Khuraburi was just a little too thick for me.
