    Your tip on creating a chisel on the Derwent is awesome. Works really well. Tried on Prismacolor and it worked. Thanks so much.

    Thank you for taking time to do this review and the detailed criteria you you have used. This is a useful comparison and helpful to artists working in many different media. I am a watercolour artist but sometime turn to a white CP to add final highlight detail. I personally use either the Conte white sketching pencil, Prismacolour or my prized old Karisma. On W/C the Conte suites me best.

    I find your video very informative, easy to understand and how you talk and explain is also very nice! I am learning all concerning Colored Pencils and your videos bring me more and more close to them! Many greetings from Germany, Alfredo Hernandez

    This comparison is great, but I wish you'd thrown in General's white and white classroom chalk for comparison. Conte is another good one, their 2B white sticks are the best white pastels.

    Today I was buying a Caran D'Ache Luminance white, and a Faber Castell Albrecht Dürer Magnus white. The Magnus beats the Luminance in brightness and opaqueness on dried aquarell, gouache and oil based black pencils. At least it is equal. So I will stick with Faber Castell, which is much cheaper.

    Hi Jason, the graphitint are water soluble graphite - hence the breakage and charcoal feel. The Polychromos are oil based, rather than wax. I have a Derwent Chinese white that is quite old and the lead is very hard/sturdy in it, so I am thinking they must have changed the formula as your review shows that it is softer. Thank you for your review, as always! :)

    Not clear why people would use water for wax- or oil-based coloured pencils. The graphitint and Albrecht Durer, yes. For the rest, Odourless Mineral Spirits, or Zest-It Pencil Blend.

    Hey Jason in my opinion derwent drawing white is the most opaque white you can find in any pencil range it's almost al opaque as titanium white paint try it out best regards.

    • @UTleochi
      @UTleochi Před 6 lety

      The third one was actually the Derwent Drawing Chinese White. ;)
      The whitest of white pencils has to be the Soft White by Holbein. Sadly it's not easily available outside of Japan. I've treated myself to a box of 100 Holbein coloured pencils and noticed that there were 2 whites. One is the normal white that performs similarly to a Polychromos, and the Soft White that is really dazzlingly white.

    Would any of the Derwent Tinted Charcoal White or the Derwent Procolour Chinese White 72, do the same job as the Derwent "Drawing" white?? Please! I can only find those 2 and I really need a white pencil for highlights on my graphite pencil drawings.

    Hi Jason, thanks for the pencil preview. very informative. Is smoother paper better for layering? I have a facebook page - Heads or Tails Art , I mostly do white on black pet portraits. I use black card stock and Generals white charcoal pencil, so far it's my favorite. The white is really bold and it erases/putty removal super easy, but I have to be careful how much I layer before it won't take any more. Is the Strathmore paper better for layering?

    • @eileenliew1364
      @eileenliew1364 Před 7 lety +1

      Tracie Wallace i heard that smooth paper is worse for layering because then the pigment has nothing to cling on to (the bumps/texture of the paper)
