If the police feel like they can’t control themselves against words they need a new job
Sooooooooooo true.
They think they're insulted, tell them to go work in retail. All day everyday insults.
too true
@Mo Seif ...s'how it's been all my life 🤦♂️...

It is a beautiful state, with great people also, do not fear it, just be mindful while visiting I suppose
@@jthomeskillet the people of kentucky voted these senators into office, i dont know about them being great
"Gestures" include holding up a camera and filming them.
And if you a few shades too dark for their liking, they shoot you just for looking.
"Or putting your hands up to show they are empty..."
As a Kentuckian, before I watch the video, I apologize for whatever the hell they did now.
It's not any better in TX or FL, I've lived in both states.
Same.
Not your fault, unless you voted for any of 'em.

You shouldn't even own a gun, frankly.
Shouldn't even be walking the streets unsupervised.
If they’re like “Yeah but you should respect cops!!!” There’s lots of people who work jobs that get shit on all day every day, join the club Buddy and just do your job as you’re told. Don’t like that? Change your career.
Officer Pansy, Officer Crybaby, Officer Butthurt, Officer Wimpy, Officer Weakling, Officer Safespace, Officer Spineless, Officer Wuss, Officer Whiny, Officer Milksop, Officer Namby-Pamby, Officer Milquetoast, Officer Chicken, Officer Fraidy-Cat, Officer Yellow-Belly, Officer Mollycoddle, Officer Momma's Boy, Officer Cream-Puff, Officer Pantywaist, Officer Lilly Liver, Officer Cupcake, Officer Scaredy Cat, Officer Milk-Drinker, and Officer Karen.
@jeff nomad : I don't agree with "Respect should be earned" because I do agree with "You have to give it to get it." Those two things put together are a catch-22. Everyone deserves a modicum of respect at the start. If they then prove they are unworthy of such by not giving others that same respect, then I revoke an equal amount of respect for them. But that's just how I do it.
Beau- You ask “what the goal is?”
It’s American Fascism.
Kentucky just dropped further down my travel list.
Mine too, along with South Carolina...
Let me get this straight: Those senators voted for a law that clearly violates the Constitution, and which will cost lots of taxpayer dollars when it is challenged in court... They really suck at lawmaking.
It's not about lawmaking. It's virtue signaling to their Coup Klux Klan constituents.
So let me get this straight: To the Senators of Kentucky, it should be legal to me to spread lies about minority groups conspiring to destroy the country/white race and advocate for them to be deported, put in camps, or worse, but that it should be illegal for me to flip a cop the bird.
Does that about sum up their political position?
... I mean, this is the same place that keeps voting the Turtle 🐢 soooo....
I think at the moment this bill is coming out of the Kentucky state legislature. But I may be wrong, I know last week when I read an article about it, it was still at state level. But even that is outrageous.
@@CanyonALynn that's what I just said!!!!!

Isn't a reasonable person responds with violence and oxymoron?
No, shit😾
Thank you!
Not sure about this. I think roughing up the people who votes for this would be a pretty educational experience. Its just fun as long as other people getting beaten up.
That part.
As if Qualified Immunity isn’t cover enough for Kentucky Police Officers, now they have a complete “Never go to jail” card for any amount of violence they might choose to exert upon the citizenry.
I guess they went pale watching George Floyd die, since lynching or beating people to death is commonplace there. “Is that really illegal, and they arrested the cop?!” Oh crap

HOW DO YOU PROVE WHAT THEY SAID WAS INFLAMMATORY.
Kentucky will just get sued into oblivion.
Exactly instead let's give them more reasons to go out there and do what they're already doing....
Well, we certainly cannot accuse them of a dog whistle. This is blatant.
You know that saying "They said the quiet part out loud?" Well that no longer applies, because there is no longer a quiet part anymore for Republicans. They say loudly and proudly now "this is who we are." Look at the voter suppression efforts going on everywhere. Also did you hear what Governor Rick Scott from Florida said about stimulus money designated for his state? He issued a letter saying that Florida should not accept the money. Send it Back!!! Kentuckians apparently never heard the term, “sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me”.
I find it sad that Retail workers are held to a higher scrutiny than police in such situations
This is a felony charge, which in KY strips you of your right to vote. This is also a voter suppression bill.
And now it makes sense.

That is a horrible bill. It in no way should move forward or be seriously considered.
And I’m a retired LEO with 32 years doing what I believed was a just cause. This new era breaks my heart.

As they have proven on and off camera they have zero self control.
I heard the dog whistle loud and clear. Some people have a tendency to say, “Why don’t they just comply and obey commands?”. It was just a matter of time before such a law was proposed.
It's just a more clearly written version of Desantis' proposal down here in FL.
You are not wrong.
@John Smith Nobody is talking about attacking a cop. Beau never mentioned that. Your reply may work for people that look like you, but; it doesn’t work that way for many people that don’t look like you.

My first response to hearing this bill was " what the f*** ".
Y'know, just once I'd like to see my home state mentioned in national media without cringing and feeling the need to apologize.
"Offensive", "derisive", "reasonable", "prudent" are all subjective terms that can't even typically be used in advertising claims, let alone legislation. Pathetic.
Good comparison, Jaimy.
Actually, words like that are used in law all the time. My question is, if a regular person is prohibited from reacting to mere words with violence, why would we allow a police officer to do so. I agree with Beau, as soon as this is challenged in court, this law is gone-assuming it becomes law.
@@cindylacy Are they? Can you cite some statutes or pieces of legislation where there are examples similarly worded to what is talked about in this video? I ask just because I work for a Fortune 100 company that deals in financial products and insurance and our legal team objects to/strikes down any terminology being used that is subjective. For example we could never market a product as being the "best" or any other term that could be opinion-based. I always wondered if they were being paranoid but it made sense because using words like that aren't objective in any way. Also it is funny that these are the same people who tell a black person that the n-word is just a word and to get over it, but they want carte blanche when reacting with physical force to anything they deem inappropriate.

This makes me want to travel to Kentucky, go full Monty Python, and yell "your mother was a hamster, and your father smells of elderberries" to a cop and see what happens.
The cop would be confused, and the confusion leads to fear, fear leads to anger, anger leads to you getting 15 rounds of 9mm at various distances from center mass, then a pause while the cop reloads, then another 15 rounds. Because he felt threatened.

It's far worse for deaf people actually. My grandfather worked at a school for the deaf and I had a couple of deaf friends in high school. They have extra challenges when dealing with the law, as well do the blind, and anyone else with extra challenges. Like being homeless for instance. And especially not being white.
Yep. Anyone who doesn't respond to a police officer's instructions (almost always given verbally) is in danger of violence from said officer. Immediately one year after Breonna Taylor’s murder.
@John Smith Breonna Taylor was asleep in her bedroom when the cops enforced a no-knock warrant. They did not announce that they were cops upon entry. It sounded like a break-in so her boyfriend went to investigate holding a gun. The cops fired and their bullets went through the walls striking Breonna as she slept. Tell me what poor choices did a sleeping person make in that instance that caused her to lose her life.
@John Smith They were looking for her EX- boyfriend who they arrested in another raid the same night (10 miles away). If their intel was correct this would never have happened. Sounds like poor decisions the cops behalf. And I would like to see the article where the current boyfriend acknowledges that he knew it was the cops before firing a warning shot that was answered with 32 rounds. None of us were there so we don't know how it really went down. What we do know is the person and drugs the cops were looking for were not there.
@John Smith The ex-boyfriend they were looking for was Jamarcus Glover. Kenneth Walker was her current boyfriend that fired the shot. It was a botched raid. They were at the wrong house because of bad information. I'll say one thing, this has been a civil conversation compared to the jackassery that I usually see in these threads. We may not agree, but we kept it human and didn't result to schoolyard name-calling. Cheers.
@John Smith Yes, I read all of that too. She was suspected to be a person who may have held drugs for him. Yes, they knew that was her house and it was the target of the raid but it doesn't change the fact that the drugs weren't there and her ex-boyfriend claimed that he never involved her in his business. The police had better options than a late night raid. If you want to hit me back with another reply, that's cool. This one's my last. Peace.
Edit: I think I found that link from Tessa Duvall. Checking it out now.
@John Smith oh wow. So if the police is trying to shoot someone and you just happen to be unknowingly in the way, they have the right to kill you. Are you sure about that?

We already have this, in all states... just ask anyone been arrested for "disturbing the peace" or "disorderly conduct" for flipping off or arguing with a cop.
