    • @burnttoast111
      @burnttoast111 Před 4 měsíci +21

Russia has spent a lot of time and resources developing the new IRA (Inert Reactive Armor) armor system called 'Glupy-20', which can be easily applied to any vehicle, and is much cheaper than Kontakt-5, and made entirely from indigenous materials and technology. Some estimations are that Russia has the production capacity for as many as 1.6 million pieces of it a year, and you can usually cover a vehicle with less than 20 pieces.
The concept is when the IRA is struck by enemy fire, the armor piece falls off the vehicle, taking the projectile with it, preventing penetration of the vehicle.
Unfortunately, the protection from APFSDS and HEAT are pretty poor.

I can tell from your post that you know nothing about the economics of war, but pretty much every single country ever involved in a large war does this. the US did it during WWII of course, germany didnt actually do this until 1944? or thereabouts. russians are suffering, but putin doesnt care, and its not to the point that it is destabilizing. unless we give ukraine the ammo they need, they will not be able to win, and if our politicians keep doing this, russia at some point will actually have a chance to win. Russia is getting stronger, now, after a period of degradation and weakness, the window is closing.

    I'd add:
0:02 BMP firing. Looks like to its front-right.
0:04 What looks to be a smoking vehicle on the tree line in back right of the shot.
0:17 It seems to just be coincidence but there is a secondary explosion in the burning wreck of "No. 2" just before the artillery strike hits the tree line on the bottom right.
0:20 The tank popping smoke. Not getting hit/exploding.
0:25 There is smoke from a 'small' caliber hit to the field in the bottom left. There is a vehicle on the road on the bottom right, covered by smoke, heading toward the Russian vehicles. It doesn't appear in any other shot. Perhaps another Russian vehicle? It then proceeds to fire. What makes me think it is a Russian vehicle is that after it fires a round hits the in field next to the smoke that was already there, not going toward the vehicles. Though right after the shot is fired there is an explosion just in front of vehicle "No. 1". Probably coincidence again. Makes me think that there are (or the Russians think there are) Ukrainians in the tree line off screen to the left. And the vehicle that is firing that way keeps hitting the ground instead of what it is trying to aim at.
0:37 Looks like another artillery strike in front of vehicle "No. 1" rather than secondary explosions.

The spectacular explosion of tank #4 is not a hit but actually a smoke screen being deployed. This system monitors the airspace around the tank and deploys the smoke screen (which also has hotter thermal signature to mask the tank for IR-homing missiles) upon detecting the incoming threat automatically. It also has a button for commander to fire it manually, e.g. to cover the retreat. I think this is exactly what he did here. So #4 is not a kill, likely.

    2. Why isn't there a whole bunch of arty and air support?
    3. Why is it that when one vehicle gets attacked, ALL of them STOP???
    4. Why aren't they dispersing? If they're afraid of mines, how about starting a heavy sustained arty barrage to cover some mine clearance vehicles, who could then launch their mine clearing munitions and open up both fields for a general advance?

Ukraine should be supplied with an airforce-worth of fighter aircraft,, such as the F-16s and longer-range precision munitions, such as ATACMS (more of them, and the longest-range variants should be provided), and the russian military facilities inside of russia should be considered legitimate targets. It is worth noting that support for military aid to Ukraine in America is over 80% and increasing. This is because Americans can see that not only is aiding Ukraine the ethical thing to do, it is the practical thing as well. America has spent only approximately 6% of our military budget so far to help Ukraine. However, over half of the russian army has been destroyed. This is a tremendous bargain by any measure! In addition to this,, when russia is defeated in this war, their barbaric ideology of imperialism will also be defeated, making Europe a more peaceful, stable place for many generations - as well as preventing a new arms race in the region. That is why billions spent today saves trillions tomorrow. The vast majority of Americans understand this. Americans also want to see Ukrainian military and civilian casualties minimized. This is why Americans are correct to support giving military aid to Ukraine.
Please write to your elected representatives to request this military aid. If you are a US citizen, please consider writing to President Biden and your other elected representatives, and demand Ukraine be given the above weapons - in war-winning quantities, and soon. The sooner we give Ukraine the weapons it needs to liberate all of its territory, the sooner this war will be over, and with fewer Ukrainian casualties. Letters can be submitted electronically via the Whitehouse website. One can also google for ones' elected representatives -- many of which have similar websites. One may simply write and submit a letter electronically to make one's desire known.

DJT needs to be sent extremely polite and clear messages that USA has a duty to stop Putin. Especially as there are more than enough elderly weapons (read paid for) that can be sent. To be fair he told Putin to stop using chemical weapons in Syria. Putin did it again and Trump hit Russian bases extremely hard. No Fs were given. This event kept Putin quiet until Biden’s ridiculous exit from Afghanistan.

No that is all it's smoke units cooking off at once. Normal deployment is very different in that the grenades are fired from the tank and smoke deploys around it, around 15-20mtrs They don't ignite all over the tank. Same thing happened to the T90 that tangled with the Wolverine called Brad
