- More crash protection for the KLR. This is a nice bit of kit.

I purchased a different brand of a headlight guard sold by Goodely. I bit different design on the cover, but fit like yours. Goodely did NOT send any instructions with it, which irritated me,,so I relied on your video as instructions. Only real difference is my KLR is the Adventure model, so it has the additional cowling guard up front and uses that lower mounting bolt, which is now shared. After a few colorful metaphors, I got it installed and looks nice. Thanks for the video,,,thanks for the help!
Colorful metaphors, I'll remember that one 😂
Old KLR Tip use Blue Loctite on every nut &bolts🏍💨🇺🇸🇺🇦
There are some where I found out you DONT !
I applied Loctite to the little hex screws along the top of the plastics; these go into brass screw threads that are set into rubber grommets, when you have to take them out- the whole assembly rotates and you need fingers like a gynecologist on steroids to hold them in place.
SRC Headlight Guard delivered to Canada in a couple of weeks. Your video was quite helpful - installation was pretty slick. Nice look! 👍🏻
They look tough for sure
Mine came in yesterday's this video hped because mine came with instructions.
I have the adventure model with windshield riser and stock crash bar.
It worked better for me to remove front fender as well to secure the lower bracket of headlight protector.
Nice mate. Easy install in the end?
@@onthebackwheel yep just about 40 minutes while watching video... mine came with NO instructions
I’m installing on my ‘23 adventure model with 3d concepts adjustable windshield risers I hope it will all bolt up! I was wondering about removing the front fender for the lower bracket install, did that make it easier? I heard the adventure model needs some extra maneuvering!
I'm 51 and getting a KLR. I've been browsing all the KLR related YT channels. I subscribed to yours first because you are the only one that isn't geriatric. I've learned that every bike that's not a sport bike, is an old man bike.
Haha thanks mate. I definitely seem to be one of the outliers
I like it! Thanks for the video, sir! 👍
Never understood those wire mesh protectors, especially when you get behind a throttle blipping GSA or other high power bike with a low intelligent rider that's spraying fine rocks over the bikes behind. I use the "Where's Zed" protector that covers to whole light.
It’s got holes in it, Little Rock’s could pass through and still smash the light. A clear acrylic cover wound be better.
Little rocks aren't anything to worry about, its the solid ones that do the damage
Ok so I digress a bit now that I see it in different angles. It looks pretty nice. I still really like the stock looks of the headlight so I think I’ll leave it for now. The riser looks a bit less aggressive then what I have seen from other companies which I like. Thanks!! Ride safe! 👌🏼✌🏼
I had the Touratech light protector on my gen2 . yours looks much better.
Cool src moto make great stuff just ordered more from them yesterday for my honda 300L rear carrier and fuel can holder 👍
Cheers keep up the good work
Looks good mate, will get mine done soon.
Looks good i also have the gen 3 klr haven't riden it yet . Still have snow here in canada
Me too, Alaska
Maybe we just need some studded tires?😜
Frustrating! Give l gives you guys time to sort out your mods though
@@onthebackwheel I’m picking mine up on Friday, wife says I can ride it a mile to the mail box until the snow melts, so I can break in my new riding gear💩
Lol, I laugh at you for dropping the screws/nuts, but I would have done the same thing!🤣thanks for the vid 👍
Haha yep. One even went behind the headlight into the nether!
Let there be light.
Have you installed any radiator guards or protection on the bike or plan on it in the future?
No I haven't, haven't thought to either TBH
I actually hit a deer going 55mph early in the morning and majority of its body hit the side of the radiator which bent the support bar and destroyed the radiator and plastic. Got the t-Rex crash bars now, which would have prevented this problem if I had them sooner. 👍🏼 definitely something to look into as it looks like a big weak spot for the Klr
How has it held up?
Yeah good. Has stopped from bloody decent rocks from the big bikes
My friend I have a question for you.. did you experience abrupt on and off throttle when bike was new is this something goes away after break in? I just picked up my brand-new klr and little disappointed about abrupt on off throttle response. Hoping this will go away with brake in.. any thoughts
I never had any issues with the throttle
I’m a tall bloke, what tip do you have for raising the shield higher than factory settings.
A wind screen riser kit. If you have a look at the end of the video you'll spot a set on my bike. If you're in Aus I'm just starting to sell them too
Yea I saw yours look different, I’m in Adelaide, will be interested in one.
@@jacobnortje53 mate send me an email or social media msg and I'll send you the details
Where did you get your screen risers from?
I make them, just haven't advertised them yet. If you're keen and in Aus, send me a msg or email
I'm hearing it doesn't fit the adventure model
Everyday I regret more and more buying the Adventure Model. The only thing I can really say I prefer about the Adventure is the cool paint job. If you’re interested in buying a 2022 KLR, and plan on upgrading it to the extent of our Aussie friend, and many others, then your best bet is the non Adventure models. No point in wasting money on accessories that you’ll end up replacing with 3rd party companies anyway.
Correct. I think it's the extra lights that get in the way
Well is not the same brand but fits perfect on a adventure model
Fits my adventure model and says KLR on the protection.
