Poor Ally. Her first love dies of a cerebral hemorrhage and then her soulmate leaves her. Say it with me: Men. -_- I thought about making an AU video where Larry came back (since David E. Kelley originally planned for them to get married) but... then the song wouldn't have worked! XD Blame it on my laziness.
Because Ally and Billy had the greatest chemistry that has ever been portrayed on a television show. I wish in the end they would have ended up together. No matter how many other love interests she would have had, it would have made the show better if true love would have prevailed. It's what we all want in real life and just once we'd like to see it come true.
Until Luther and Mary came along. THAT'S the best on screen chemistry ever.

I´ve been in love with RDJ since I was twelve (26 now), and even he couldn´t make me jump the Ally/Billy ship. They had crazy chemistry.

Exactly. Wish RDJ had been well and able to continue asLarry. He still is my favorite for her. Although he left, it was not for another woman. Billy and Ally were their first loves and they were cute together. Billy took one look at Georgia and he dumped Ally- not a forever love. Larry did not go back to Sam's mother although she tried. Larry - I watch those episodes over except for the ice cream on the head end.
When billy died I stopped watching it and then watched the end when billy came back to say goodbye very emotional !!They should bring it back It is timeless x

I never liked Larry. Although I felt bad for Ally not finding someone she could share the rest of her life with.
that's what i don't really like about the series then, they make it so good then they dropped you big time. i love ally mcbeal but it break my heart.

When writer/creator David E. Kelley allowed Billy to die in the Season 3 Episode,"Boy Next Door",he tore the heart out of the Ally McBeal TV Series.Everyone that I knew who watched the series always wanted Ally and Billy to eventually re-unite and get married.Their intimate moments together were always the highlight of the series, especially in Season 1.From childhood sweethearts, to high school sweethearts, to college sweethearts at Harvard,they were always together.How much did Ally love Billy? In the Season 3 Episode,"Sideshow",during the emotional confrontation in Ally's office, she told Billy,"I've loved you my whole life! I've never loved anyone but you!".In the Season 5 Episode,"Nine One One",when the Minister asked Ally,"With all due respect,have you ever had anyone that you loved die on you?",she replied,"As a matter of fact, the man that I loved more than life itself collapsed in front of me, and died in my arms.Would you like to see the scars?".When I watched Billy die, and saw Ally trying desperately to revive him, all the while crying hysterically,I could not help crying along with her, and I was a grown man.Ally had boyfriends after Billy:Ron Chaney,Professor Dawson,Glenn the Male Model.Yet she dropped them all because they weren't Billy.Who did Ally come to when she needed emotional support? Billy! Who did Ally dream about in her fantasies? Billy!I come from the Baby Boom Generation,and still believed in happy endings, where two people eventually wind up happily ever after.Hollywood used to make films like that.David Kelley should have ended the series with Ally waking up from a stroke in a hospital, like Kathleen Turner in "Peggy Sue Got Married",and finding out that she has been married for twelve years to Billy,has three kids, has their own Law Firm,and a home in the suburbs.
It's a shame the final season wasn't as planned and had to be changed because of Robert Downey Jr. It would have been nice to have them marry it's a bit to realistic that not everyone finds and keeps love.
Brilliant show, one of a kind by being true to love and not the fantasy.
Peter Hall I didn't like Larry that much so it didn't bother me. He was just an OK character. I much preferred Billy. Was a shock when he was killed off.

I recently watched this series I loved Billy and Ally and I loved how Billy's arc ended, I loved that he kept appearing to Ally after his death like a ghost in her subconscious but one that came when she needed him. I like how the show dealt with loved particularly here Ally's first love she loved him in a way some people always do with their first everything. However she idealised him Ally and Billy may have worked but probably not they were very similar and that's not always good. I think Billy loved her just as much but knew they wouldn't work out in the long run, their chemistry is undeniable but your first love is not better or worse than anything it's the first, it's pure and clean and just there. I think the show did a great job of telling you you have to move and have grown up love. I personally am all about Ally and Larry I love them together I think their chemistry is beyond anything I've ever seen you just believed it, the way Calista and RDJ looked at each other it was 100% all in the troubled man who can't let his real emotions surface, the idealist Ally who wants everyone to be happy and fall in love. They glanced each other so well and I wish the original plans for S4 & S5 had have played out. I think if RDJ hadn't had to go to jail and he got to stay on it would be brilliant to see them marry at the end of S4 as was the plan, but more I think that would've been the perfect time as Ally came close to the wedding to have Billy's ghost appear to her as she struggled with letting him go, feeling she was betraying his memory and her love for him. To see him standing with her alone in her dress for the last scene and telling her.
B "It's okay I know you love him"

B "He's never going to be Ally"
A "I haven't seen you this last year"
B "You didn't need me"
A "I don't think I can do it saying I do, it means I'm never gonna see you again. It does doesn't it ?"
B "It means you have to say goodbye, yes"
A "I can't"
B "You can Ally because you love him"
A "But I love you too"
B "You can't love me Ally not like that, I'm not here anymore"
Then they dance as the song "Boy Next Door" plays.
B says "I'll walk you out for old times sake"
The camera shows her arm in arm with Billy as he walks her to the front of the isle and he says "Good luck Ally McBeal". RDJ looks down the isle smiles Ally smiles and she walks down as Billy slowly blurs behind her and a white light grows brighter and he's gone. Ally gets tot he top of the isle as Garth Brooks unanswered prayers plays, she looks up at Larry and you RDJ looking at her and she smiles as they both look at each other the way they do. Finally Ally comes to terms with Billy's passing and her feelings for Larry as he does with his for hers and they marry. S5 is all about married life but also we get that epic daughter storyline, now with both her and Larry suddenly becoming parents.
Love this series.
I have to go and find this and rewatch the entire series again now!
i love this show so much, that is why i bought the whole season, though don't like the ending & the moment when Bill died. It makes me cry a lot. Missed it that much. Great..
I remembered so well the reactions of people when Billy died. Particularly Rosie O'Donnell.
- Why PTB don't inform us a character might die. Was I really watching him dying. He took me all summer to be sure that I noticed a death and not a dream of being dead.

@Nightlylioness Urgh I know. I have never ever cried before over a tv show but I was just BAWLING. I refused to even watch season four even though everyone said Larry was awesome. I maintain that Billy Thomas was Ally's true love and they never got a chance to be together....grrrrrrr
@Nightlylioness That's how true love works I guess!One of the many reasons I wish Billy had lived is that if he had and he and Ally weren't dating in the series finale, at least I would know that they would end up together eventually. But he's dead and I don't think she'll ever be as happy as she could have been with Billy. That scene right before he died, when he was talking about how he'd been married to Ally for 12 years- I feel like that was the future they were

Watching the last season, you realize how often Ally mentions Larry, and it's so sad! I love Robert Downey Jr. but I kind of hate him for ruining Ally McBeal. Lol!

Soooo sad I lost my first love on the day we were to get married and that was bad for me now i found anothe girl been with her for 2 years and she cheated on me while we were toghther i feel like her in the video and now with this girl she has killed my life and my soul. Shes trying tom talk to me but she wont and now i feel like ally my one true love is gone and i want to die and be with my first love
@Nightlylioness Yeah..I think the first two seasons were the best. Then in season three they made BIlly into a male chauvinist pug and then KILLED him. Season four was good from what I can tell but not the same, and then season five they brought in a bunch of new people who sucked. I loved seeing Billy's ghost though. Those moments were great. The very last Billy/Ally scene, in the series finale...it made me even more certain that Billy was Ally's soulmate. :(
