Lovely... looks the part. I built one years back and gave it to a friend who is a London Cabbie... as a rule of thumb you do not get yellow headlamps outside of France and even then they are not common today... I must really build another for myself... Nice Job

That is the most mirror like paint job I’ve seen! I’m going to use that technique on my Tamiya 1/12 scale Super 7 ! I wanted gloss black, but never knew how easy it would be to obtain those results! OMG! I’m curious why you didn’t apply Bare Metal Foil around the window openings? While you were masking the window surrounds, I was thinking 🤔 “Why isn’t he using Bare Metal Foil?” Then you used it for the kick panels. Just wondering.

Behold the British Cab!
I built the same kit. Originally this kit was made by ARII if I am correct. Still was a fun kit to build.
Checked Scalemates. The original was released by Imai in 1979. The Revell taxi is also based on this Imai kit.

i got one of these kits in my stash and got it out to have a look in the box the other day. looks easy enough but there is 2 little metal plates in the bag with the tyres but i see no mention of them in the instructions . any ideas what there for?

On the box it says "black cab" over a picture of a red cab.
The term 'Black Cab' refers to the fact that the vast majority of London cabs are black, but they can come in dark red or a few other colours, but there aren't many. Black is synonymous with London cabs.
Nice model, but it's missing two extra seats, but beautifully done!
The additional passenger seats (rear-facing) are there, they were just folded up. For anyone that doesn't know, they are spring-loaded seats that flip up like cinema seats when not used by passengers. Brought back a lot of memories. Except, I don't remember them being carpeted. I recall them having a hard-wearing linoleum like floor covering.
You should’ve put working l.e.d’s in the headlights, that would’ve given this model just an extra pop.

It’s such a nice model but in every London taxi I have ever been in there has not been a red interior . A small complaint but otherwise I love the look of this

I realized that the Taxi FX4 was added to FH4.
nice kit and built well but quite a few inconsistencies with the real vehicles , the biggest glaring error is that there is no bulkhead between passenger and driving compartments ,, I don't ever remember any having red leather seats , they were an expensive option so all were pretty much brown or black ..... but apart from that a good representation
sorry but there is a bulkhead, it holds the two flip down seats that make the taxi a five seater instead of the four seats in the saloon cars.the main fault is that london cabs don,t have carpets, its a vinyl cover because people tend to throw up in them when there pissed and it makes them easier to clean
it's a full bulkhead up to the roof with Perspex sheet correct about carpets though

Thing is though, it's a model kit and that's the beauty of model kits, you can improvise and do what the hell you like with them when it comes to improvising. It's all about having fun with a model kit otherwise you can spend silly amounts of time building one then it becomes a chore.
