  • I am starting a new project. 6mm Ancient and Medieval wargaming. In this video I discuss my thoughts on how I will base my troops and organize them to fight battles. I plan to use the Hail Ceaser rules from Warlord games but I think my bases are easy enough to use for other systems.

Awesome. I really look forward to following this project. I’ve got plans for 6mm Crusades, and I like how much thought you’re putting into basing and stuff. I do both sides, too, so I similarly like the freedom that provides...although double the work...

I've decided to go with 10mm for ancients using either Impetus or Age of Hannibal. Definitely a period with a lot of choice in terms of both rules and miniatures. Looking forward to your progress.

This all sounds very interesting. If it had been me, I’d have gone for each individual stand as being 20mm wide instead of 25. This would mean you wouldn’t have to clip out an individual to glue onto the end of each line. It also slightly reduces your unit footprint, allowing for multi legion per side battles!

I'd second that...20mm frontage X 5 gives a nice 100mm frontage. It will still looked mass with 3 deep ranks but with a lesser footprint and costs less on figures

I looked at that but just didn't like the look. I don't mind clipping them as I am not a fan of completely straight lines.

@@rickybell2190 Ill give it a second look. I dont mind clipping models as I will do that for warbands anyway. 100mm frontage does look more to scale.

Looks good! I am looking forward to building a historical army at some point! I have a 6mm WW2 army, a 10mm WW1 army, and two 6mm fantasy armies to get through first though hah

Really love your You Tube page. Just wondering why you decided on using Hail Caesar.
