It's a nine inch nails song cash covered in 2006 to be more inline with the cool kids millennials And gen x
I feel like Hurt is one of those songs that when you first hear it, it seems overly simple and the lyrics don't resonate, but after you age a little and live through some of what life throws at you, you hear this song again and its hard to make it all the way through without crying. At least thats how it was for me.

the song gets better when you listen to the original song nine inch nails verson and then johnny cash version with knowing why Johnny Cash covered the song, he said in an interview that he heard the song and thought it sounded like regrets of an old person.

I understand why people refer to this as a Cash song, but I REALLY with they would refer to it as both NIN and Cash in their titles/discriptions.
@@gospyro Agreed. It's the same for scores of songs people refer to as this artist or that artist but not by the original artist.

My very best friend and brother from the marines lost his battle with ptsd a few years ago and took his own life. This just made me break down and cry a bit..I miss him so much and you gave me a little bit of him back for a moment..thank you for this beautiful cover ✌️

Hearing you play this reminds me so much of my father who passed away in 2019. He loved Johnny Cash and played this song specifically so often as a warm up for further playing on his accoustic. Thank you so much for this

This song always hits different, be it the original or the Cash version an absolutely masterful cover itself. The way you make that guitar sing & cry, was incredible honestly. Writing this comment with a tear in my eye, bravo good sir.
The melody in the bass with the chords/harmony on the top was such a good idea; very true to how low and steady Cash sang.

Dude that was so good. At the beginning i thought: ,, Oh well, a next solid good Arangement, like expected" but then at 2:02 I was like: ,, Damn. Hold on. That´s getting too emotional now" xd. Pls keep up the good arangements. Those are nothing more than blessings for us all. If you are considering of other emotional pieces then soundtracks from naruto (Shippuden) is a good source. I don´t know if you are familiar with them but soundtracks like Minato saves Kushina, Shirohae, Peaceful, Mountain Haze, Obito´s Death Theme, Kimimaros Theme, Determination or others just hitting different.

I learned this song when one of the family cats died when I was 16. Such a precious and sweet cat. I had put all my mourning into it. Now, whenever I hear this song that moment is relived. I love how beautiful this rendition was. It made the little throwback to that moment in my childhood very beautifull.

This was the 1st JC song I ever listened to (before hearing anything else), and it ended being his last before passing away in 2003
Its not his song its a cover Cash is covering Nine Inch Nails but its a great cover that's for sure.
*This song has meant a lot to me for years when Logan trailer came out, which was one of my Favorite Superheroes, and when I saw the movie I realized the Resemblance it had with one of my Favorite Videogames as for many of course, The Last Of Us, but for me thanks to that I was able to meet two of the best musicians I have seen in my life, Johnny Cash and Nine Inch Nails (Trent Reznor) because Trent Reznor wrote the song and Johnny Cash made his own version and the two versions were very good, but Trent Reznor when he heard the version of Johnny Cash he realized that this was no longer his song, this is what Hurt means to me, R.I.P Johnny Cash a Legend To Me.*

The song was originally written by Nine Inch Nails but what’s beautiful Trent Reznor (who wrote the song) from NIN said Johnnys version touched him so much that Trent straight up said it wasn’t his song anymore.
