The style is everything in art, littérature and music, writing as well. The style of playing is so unique with Segovia that even without introduction or seeing the man playing one would recognise it is the artist himself playing, no one could imitate him accurately so individual his music was.
As a child I took a long trip across New Mexico with my father and listened to “My Favorite Spanish Encores” by Maestro Segovia. That is what inspired me to learn this sacred instrument and it has been my constant companion.
I started playing the guitar once watching and immediately recording this movie. Sincerely with big love to Spain from Russia. 2022👋everything will be ok
So many things to say about amazing this man was. For one thing, assuming that this was indeed recorded in 1976, then Segovia was 83 years old here. I hope I can even hold a guitar when I get to that age (65 now and already feeling the stiffness creeping in)! Second, I didn't realize that he was such a fluent English speaker. I'm reasonably fluent in Spanish, but hearing the Maestro speaking my language so eloquently is truly humbling.
Andres Segovia brought me to the guitar. And I'm very glad having seen him three times live 😍 I remember the first time having goosebumbs throughout the concert. I was 17 years old in 1966
I saw him live around late 1980. He played very slowly but exquisitely. He really made you pay heed to his every note. It was a large hall, but he didn't use any amplification/mics etc. The concert was all the better for that IMO. I wish I could play even just one tune on a guitar of that quality, if only to experience the soundscape and resonance that is possible on such an instrument. I've no wish to own anything so precious.
My teacher, Ms. Pat Corelli, was a student of Segovia. I always felt a special connection to that lineage. A true master. Ms. Correll was an exceptional guitarist and teacher and am forever grateful for her and Segovia. She was in her mid 80s in the early 90s here in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
I REMEMBER THIS CONCERT WHEN I WAS A YOUNG BOY.........I SAW IT BUNCH OF TIMES,,,,,,I WANTED TO PLAY LIKE HIM.MASTER SEGOVIA HE WAS GREAT AND STILL IS .FOREVER. GREAT

83 years old in this video, and still playing marvellously! The world was a better place when Segovia was alive. Since his death, interest in the classical guitar has really taken a hit.
As a self taught guitar aficionado at age 8, and as one of the chosen few individuals privileged to study the classical guitar under the tutelage of Fil-Spanish master El Senor Manolo Pellicer, I grew up playing the Fernando Sor studies transcribed for the guitar by this Spanish guitar virtuoso. I enjoyed playing all his works but listening to his actual recordings was hard in those times in the 80s. Only in the advent of the You Tube era was I really able to appreciate the magnitude of his legacy. To my dear Senor Andres, thank you for the music.

Beautiful music by the maestro against the backdrop of the Alhambra -- there is no equal! I'm spellbound by that distant footage of Andres performing in front of the wading pool / koi pond and that row of neatly-trimmed hedges and the architecture behind it. An oasis of sight and sound!
My furniture-maker master who was also a luthier used to say ; "There is only one Segovia" :-) I've always loved the sound of classical guitar, it's the sound of wood and hands.

Best guitar player ever, Segovia-de Lucía the masters period
Having the bless to know Allambra 🥰❤️ song, place and chords... although till today its not ever possible to play as he does at all 😂
So much emotion his music takes away all barriers and allows your heart and mind and sole to experience oneness.
Agree. He really stirs the soul with that exquisite sound and use of portamento
He was a beast. One of the best ever did it.👍
Andres Segovia es, UNICO...que maravilla!!!
Le note profumano di magia..
✨✨✨
Beautiful
Beautiful music by the maestro against the backdrop of the Alhambra -- there is no equal! I'm spellbound by that distant footage of Andres performing in front of the wading pool / koi pond and that row of neatly-trimmed hedges and the architecture behind it. An oasis of sight and sound!
The absolute, definitive master of the classical guitar! Nobody compares with him! Respects mister Segovia...................
My furniture-maker master who was also a luthier used to say ; "There is only one Segovia" :-)
I've always loved the sound of classical guitar, it's the sound of wood and hands.
Agustin Barrios was an excelent guitarrist and composer.
Maestro Segovia was right: the greatest the artist, the humblest.
Thank you Danielle..wonderful to hear..
This man loved his guitar
Love listening to Segovia play.
