Dear Friends,
Sutra Foundation in association with ArtsFAS, an initiative of Yayasan Hasanah presented Dancers at Large (odissi) as part of Sutra's studio series KitaTariKita II on 26, 27 & 28 August, 2022. It was a great creative release for all concerned, especially, for the seven young girls/dancers from Sutra Dance Outreach Program involved in this production.
This video is a full recording of the last performance with audience at Sutra Studio/Gallery.
The girls convinced many of us that youth is not wasted on the young after all. Wherever they performed, the space was palpably energised, so much so that some cannot help but feel that dance, in fact, has been created for young bodies.
The girls who ranged from 13 to 16 years of age danced, stirred and stole the hearts of the audience. They came through their performance, jubilantly triumphant!
The wind beneath their wings had been their akkas - Geethika Sree and Tan Mei Mei, who had been relentless and indefatigable in bringing out the full blossoming of their potentials. Well done, girls!
(The production was co-presented with JCPR. The latter promoted the show with great panache).
Seen at the end are Smt Jayalakshmi Sekhar and Annai Shri Kriyalakshmi Deviyar felicitating the dancers.
