I worked at a restaurant for a long time and we had free refills because the cost of the cup/lid/straw was more than two sodas. The soda is a huge box of syrup that lasted two weeks and a big container of CO2. Once they had the cup/lid/straw, it cost us about six cents to refill the soda for them (circa 2012 prices), so it was worth it to bring them back happy
Oh man when the new guy didn't screw the nozzle in just right. Getting that syrup off the floor/rack was a nightmare. I do not miss working food

About 15-20 years ago I went to Town Hall in NYC to see a performance of by the Masters of Indian Percussion. It was one of the most sublime concerts I had ever been to, exploring the forms and rhythms of Indian classical music. Truly an iconic NYC venue. But now the homies and the bozos are going to be there to finally class up the joint. Youse are gonna crush it!
