For a car with only that much power he sure floors it enough and it's moving VERY well for an engine that small with a Turbo. Also anytime I'm out I see these (older models) and I LOVE the looks of them. Also people get well over 150k out of them. I had 2 Z24 Cavaliers and I loved both! I don't get why people hate the cobalt and cavalier so much. Never owned one but the z24 and supercharged cavaliers were pretty badass as well as the ford escort and dodge neon. I've driven older honda's and toyotas competing with those cars and they all sucked because they weren't big, gas guzzling luxury vehicles. This "factual" assertion has always bothered me especially after owning an 88 escort GT, Driving around 2 differnet escorts from the 90's and driving a friends civic, another friends toyota camry, and cruising in a toyota corolla with my ex gf. The smaller cars are always worse off but there was no night and day difference between domestic and imports until acura really started making the integra something worth mentioning. :/

Just to note, I know it's been said to death, but I have a 2013 2LT with push button start AND a back up camera. It's 2 different option packages, but you can get it on that trim as well.
Kind of a whiny review imo. I have a 2013 2LT RS stick and love it. The focus I looked at before buying the cruze looked far cheaper interior wise, also the Dart is notorious for its non-linear surgy powerband. My Cruze handles better than my old Camaro did and the steering feel and stopping power feel great. If I had to pick a few critisms, I would say I wish there were a higher power engine option(the 1.4t isnt bad at all just not exciting) and for more storage room up front. I absolutely love the styling and inside the functionality of evetything is very nice. The Mylink can be used touch screen AND via the buttons or voice(I HATE cars with touch screen only), bluetooth streaming from phone to radio is awesome, I use it every day. Overall after a year and a half of ownership it is still a treat to climb in the car and drive.
That's great to hear, as I recently bought a 2013 Cruze 2LT and love it so far. The reviewer does have a point about the car being suitable for the older generation (I'm 33), but I disagree about the Cruze been "vanilla". You really have to be picky to dislike Chevy's best vehicle (imo). I will say that if the dealership had the LTZ at the time, I would have gotten that over the 2LT. Still, I'd choose the Cruze over the Madza3 and Focus any day of the week. :)
Not when It starts having issues these things are junk especially American brands once they hit 130,000- 150,000 miles they start falling apart countless problems lol 😂
I have driven the sonic and cruze both with the 1.4 turbo. My biggest complaint about the cruze was its very very sleepy automatic, that thing shifted so slow I couldnt believe it, not sporty enough for my taste. The sonic that I drove came with a manual trans. It was a surprisingly fun and easy stick to drive. The 1.4 with a stick was pleasantly quick When paired to a manual trans. When the cruze came out I did really like it, but now I can see how it really fell behind in the class
I had a 2013 Cruze 1LT that i bought new. I loved the car but I had to get rid of it due to the poor reliability. I've never owned a car with so many issues. After receiving the recall letters, the radio failing, the evaporator box failure, the coolant issues, the timing chain guide failure, the rear brake noise, i just didn't trust the car and i felt my money was being wasted if i kept it.
I recently bought a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze 1LT RS. If you get it with the Technology Package as well (which I did) you also get the backup camera. I'm sure that was not the case in the older models, but for 2014 models you can. The only thing is, the backup camera for these cars do not have the guidelines like most other vehicles do, they do however still have the sensors so you know how close you can get to objects (with the Enhanced Safety Package). I just figured I would post this here in case anyone was interested in getting a 2014 Cruze and wanted to know more about the backup camera. I personally wanted the LTZ version of this car. But I do not like and never will buy a car with leather seats, and unfortunately this car does not offer cloth seats for the 2LT and LTZ models. Also, that cloth-like material on the dash matches the cloth seats for the car. Seems kind of odd they would put that same cloth material on the dash for leather seated Cruzes.

Do you all know how big of a deahtrap this car is? It did catastrophically bad in the small overlap, and the moderate overlap... Yes, for a 2011 car. This was the only car from Euroncap post 2010 to have the A Pillar pushed back 5 cm.

They might be better over seas. In the US these are literally a piece of shit. I know a few people that had them and they only lasted 40,000 miles. I think that’s like 70,000 kilometers.
There are a couple advantage to the cast iron block... especially with a turbo engine. It's STRONG. and dimensionally its much smaller in the engine bay. It's really easy to get access all the way around this 1.4 And you would be surprised at how light it actually is...about 80lbs or so. I'm not sure it would be really worth it to go to aluminum. Once other thing. They use the same 1.4 in the Chevy Volt. And again it's small size helps out there. I bet with a tuner installed you could safely get 180-200 HP. And the torque numbers are already great. It starts pulling nicely at 2000RPM. It IS a little low for the Cruze. But the Sonic is a blast with this engine and a manual transmission
Nice car, just felt under powered when we drove one last. I really like the design and the pricing though. I think the Cruze and the Focus are the best in the segment at this point for value.
Why do people say that Camrys are boring to drive when this car is the most bland car out there? This was my first car and I definitely do not recommend it.

only watching because this was my real first car i got from car max at 19 years old not counting my moms corolla 2 years ago, i miss it but crashed it 2 months later 😭
"...while its competitors are offering that. So you have to stick the key in the ignition..." holy crap what a burden! so much energy to do that! Because we haven't gotten accustomed to this difficult kind of start up
I glad i dont have a backup mirror i hate those i rather look behind me like we use to . Love the unlock lock on panel i know others dont to each is own
In australia, there is a hatchback version... And i believe we got the my link system since 2011 and it does have reverse camera along with push start as standard.
I have this car. Overall this is a good car. It drives nice, it looks nice. I'm spending a whole lot less on gas than my 98 Nissan Altimia. My average mileage that I get is about 30mpg I do wish it had more power, but that's not what the car is about of course... My next car won't be a subcompact
I don't think changing the block from cast to aluminum would gain any power. I supposed MAYBE you could make the Aluminum flow a wee bit better, but that will gain you 5hp tops. All the Alu block will do is knock a few lbs off.
Does this have bluetooth? and is the mk6 2.5 a better buy? looking at a 2011 mk6 and a 2013 cruze 1lt for 5k each and the golf has about 20k less miles on it
My Uncle has the diesel version with the Holden badge, it's nice. There is a Hatchback and a wagon too! look up Holden Cruze Wagon and Holden Cruze Hatchback! Nice review :D
It would be cool if they offered the 2.5L engine in the Cruze to compete with the Civic Si, which now has 205 HP and 174 lbs-ft of torque. With the 2.5L engine, the Cruze could really smack the Civic Si pretty hard.
I heard u say the cruze isn't push start nor does it have a backup cam but only with the LTZ smh 🤦I currently own a 2015 LT turbo charge kind of a backup car and I have both so I'm not sure where the information you received is correct. I can start my vehicle with my mod and roll down the windows as well.
As according to this web-link from the ***** website, www.chevrolet.com/cruze-compact-car/specs/trims.html, the Cruze LTZ does indeed come with both the push button & smart key access systems as standard features. Just press CTRL F, type in LTZ, click on the "Compare Models Side by Side" link, then click on "LTZ Automatic" from the drop-down box to compare the trim-lines of the vehicle to find the information provided. - Michael Land
In another video I thought you said you liked the "seat material" being used on the dash and inside of the doors. You said it adds a little more style vrsus just plain plastic.
Now does the Diesel will they come with a backup cam. One of my buddys on youtube he is looking at the Chevrolet Cruze Diesel his 1999 Pontiac Grand AM GT died he got rid end it he toke it to the body shop. And they body shop had find more bad news when he got rear ended or maybe something else did it. They were looking at and they find that the back of the flame got twisted. So sadly he had to lay his 1999 Pontiac Grand AM GT to rest. So he wants to look for a Chevy Cruze and he wants to get a diesel one?
Soo, really decent review, but I think you need to slooow down the speech there, sir. You have a TON of really good descriptive information, but you sound a little rushed. Good job though! Keep it up!
Love my 2013 1LT with 6-speed manual transmission. Underpowered? Haha no way! With 148 ft-lb torque at a low 1850 rpm its got great acceleration. The LT trims can get the rear-view camera with the appropriate package. The trunk is 15 cubic feet, not 14.
mine is a 2012 ls and has a few updates because the owner before me was a GM employee. so I have leather finish instead of that weird fabric on the passenger side dash and side panels, and I also get the 1lt audio pachage.
This Car is Heavy & Slow, + has tons of Problems. Owned a 2012 Cruze and the transmission went bad around 86,000. Engine Broke a few kilometeres later leading to Oil leakage and further damaging the trans. Sold it for a Scrap, and Bought a Honda Civic.

Three years later, you were close, not 160hp but its 153hp and 177 ft. lbs tq.
I have a 2016 LT2 and it looks EXACTLY the same INSIDE AND OUT!
I have a 2012 Cruze and it has a push-button start so IDK where the notion came from that you cant get a push-button start on the 2013 model.
Thank you for this detailed review 🤝🏾🤝🏾🤝🏾
only watching because this was my real first car i got from car max at 19 years old not counting my moms corolla 2 years ago, i miss it but crashed it 2 months later 😭
The design of
toyota and honda is shit compared to cruze
Honda I agree Toyota no
Toyota shits on Honda
George Ilvesasb Cruze is absolute shit
+Flawless Pants and why are you watching this video?
+Kakdkskdksklddk1884848383 thank you i agree.... i have 2015 toyota corolla and its a very beautiful looking car....
"...while its competitors are offering that. So you have to stick the key in the ignition..." holy crap what a burden! so much energy to do that! Because we haven't gotten accustomed to this difficult kind of start up
Idk what this guy is on but i have a 2013 cruze LT and it has a backup camera...
It depends on what model you have but he's saying other competitors have it in any model you get.
Can you speak slowly ?
Correct me if im wrong but i know GM introduce keyless access and push button start standard on the Cruze LTZ and optional on LT in 2012.
First of all the cavalier was not a bad car,I have. 2000 z24 rag top with 50K. The cobalt turbo is a great car
You can get push button start on the cruze. Standard on ltz and optioned on the lt2
I glad i dont have a backup mirror i hate those i rather look behind me like we use to . Love the unlock lock on panel i know others dont to each is own
I’m only 29 with a Cruze bro I’m not that old fool
im 16 and i want this for my first car 😂
@@sarahmaroko I'm 18 and I'm planning on saving up for it haha
can you send me the video on how to remove the headliner from the 2013 Chevrolet cruze lt car
I love it just the way it is.
Um, the LS trim is not the base trim. You missed the L trim, which IS the base.
My average mileage that I get is about 30mpg
I do wish it had more power, but that's not what the car is about of course... My next car won't be a subcompact
Altima is not a compact
i was talking about the cruze
Altima is a bigger better car with a bigger engine that is why burns more gas.
i own both cars lol. I know what they are lol
+KyleTVProductions i agree my next one would be the impala
a backup camera is an option on 1lt,2lt, and LTZ i have one on my 1LT
I don't think changing the block from cast to aluminum would gain any power. I supposed MAYBE you could make the Aluminum flow a wee bit better, but that will gain you 5hp tops. All the Alu block will do is knock a few lbs off.
Does this have bluetooth? and is the mk6 2.5 a better buy? looking at a 2011 mk6 and a 2013 cruze 1lt for 5k each and the golf has about 20k less miles on it
A little disappointed with the gas entrance.
My Uncle has the diesel version with the Holden badge, it's nice. There is a Hatchback and a wagon too! look up Holden Cruze Wagon and Holden Cruze Hatchback! Nice review :D
echo-tec?...really?
Ecotec * ...WTF is echo-tec?
It would be cool if they offered the 2.5L engine in the Cruze to compete with the Civic Si, which now has 205 HP and 174 lbs-ft of torque. With the 2.5L engine, the Cruze could really smack the Civic Si pretty hard.
I heard u say the cruze isn't push start nor does it have a backup cam but only with the LTZ smh 🤦I currently own a 2015 LT turbo charge kind of a backup car and I have both so I'm not sure where the information you received is correct. I can start my vehicle with my mod and roll down the windows as well.
all the other cars your talking about "also" cost way more. So no wonder their better in plenty of ways
Well, you guessed wrong. I like this better than the Mazda3, and the Focus.
2:23 Actually, the Cruze LTZ comes with Smart Entry I believe. Or, at least I've seen it on some at the dealerships.
plus in Canada you can get push button start on the Cruze if you splurge for the LTZ
As according to this web-link from the ***** website, www.chevrolet.com/cruze-compact-car/specs/trims.html,
the Cruze LTZ does indeed come with both the push button & smart key access systems as standard features.
Just press CTRL F, type in LTZ, click on the "Compare Models Side by Side" link, then click on "LTZ Automatic" from the drop-down box to compare the trim-lines of the vehicle to find the information provided.

Our mistake, we confused the Sonic with a lack of push-button start. Thanks for clearing that up :)
No worries, it's okay :)

***** Hmm, I wonder which model I saw then? I know for a fact it had that option equipped. Oh well, no biggie.
Hey Sofyan--any luck on getting any new Subarus to review? Interested in what you'd think of the '14 Forester XT.
We are in the process of acquiring other brands from manufacturers. Subaru is certainly on the list :)
How is the power in the Encore with the same engine ??
Soo, really decent review, but I think you need to slooow down the speech there, sir. You have a TON of really good descriptive information, but you sound a little rushed. Good job though! Keep it up!
Cavaliers we're amazing vehicles....
You act as if its so hard to shove the key in and turn it, why? Its not that hard
Every car review I see in this channel, the guy always says the car is bad and just overall a bad review. It is on purpose??
I have a 2013 Cruze Lt and it has remote start and backup camera
Mr Carbodies ........who are we btw
im an 18 year old chick, looking for my first car and even i wouldn't buy a ford focus lmaooo i am considering one of these puppies tho
Love my 2013 1LT with 6-speed manual transmission. Underpowered? Haha no way! With 148 ft-lb torque at a low 1850 rpm its got great acceleration.
The LT trims can get the rear-view camera with the appropriate package.
The trunk is 15 cubic feet, not 14.
mine is a 2012 ls and has a few updates because the owner before me was a GM employee. so I have leather finish instead of that weird fabric on the passenger side dash and side panels, and I also get the 1lt audio pachage.
family daddy of the Cruzes
Awesome
This Car is Heavy & Slow, + has tons of Problems. Owned a 2012 Cruze and the transmission went bad around 86,000. Engine Broke a few kilometeres later leading to Oil leakage and further damaging the trans. Sold it for a Scrap, and Bought a Honda Civic.
do a buick verano i heard its pretty much the same platfrom, but apparently the buick feels completely different.
my 2lt has factory backup cam
