    My abiding memory of the Denys Fisher Tardis was the smell of the cardboard. Many times I've thought about purchasing one just to see whether it would have that sweet, pulped paper smell. More than 40 years later I can still recall that smell and it sends me straight back to the late 70s. Great video, thank you :)

      The TARDIS still seems to have that nostalgic aroma - and yes, it takes me back too. Thanks for watching and I'm glad you liked the video. Go on, buy a replacement TARDIS from eBay, you know you want to!

    That's a lovely collection. I used to have some of my CO figures on display, but I had to move them, as I share my house with my brother, his partner, and their son. The little lad could not resist playing with the Daleks on the landing windowsill, and they were a magnet for his young cousins, too. I would arrange them from 'The Dead Planet' onwards, and then find them in a clump at one end of the windowsill. When I was a child (and it were all fields round 'ere, etc.,) I wouldn't have dared touch something that wasn't mine. So stupid me for thinking that they would be left alone now. I could probably put them back, now - I showed the little lad the scene of the Dalek in the scrapyard from 'Remembrance Of The Daleks', and it terrified him, (That didn't go down too well with his mum) so my models would probably be safe. Drastic measures.🤔😬😆😆😆

    • @PBProps
      @PBProps  Před 4 lety

      As kids grows older, they (hopefully) learn not to touch stuff - my kids were the same. It was partly down to my son that this display remained. As soon as I put it up, I wanted to pack it all away again, but he asked for it to stay, so there it is. He's also very well aware that all of this collection will one day be his, he's got some of it already in his room. I doubt my daughter will want any of it though.
      I'm sure that you and your nephew can enjoy your stuff now, you could make it a thing, get him in on setting up the display. It might be a bit of fun!

  • @MartinFutter70

    Great memories held within that case, broken or otherwise they still hold fantastic nostalgia.
    I think we had the Dr Who treats as I do recall that game on the back, I'm pretty sure of it now as I type, because the card tokens were in mothers sideboard for years...
    Talking of eatables - I do recall keeping my Suchards? Easter egg box with light? Might have to get my brother on a search and rescue mission... thanks for time-warp trip down memory lane! 😀

    • @PBProps
      @PBProps  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Thanks. I think the couple of broken items that were in there when this was filmed are now repaired and back to almost as good as new. I'll probably also have a rearrange in there at some point too as that's much over due.
      I don't recall a Suchards easter egg box with a light, though I do remember a TARDIS shaped one with a Dalek on the front. Unfortunately, where its gun discharge ray was placed was somewhat unfortunate - because when you opened it up, it looked like it was coming from the fifth Doctor's crotch...

    • @MartinFutter70
      @MartinFutter70 Před 10 měsíci

      @PBProps after a research mission, yes, that Easter egg with the oddly positioned Dalek Ray/whiz was the Suchard's one... and if memory recalls, it had rub down transfers too...
      The later Dalek egg, without double-entendres, was with sound, no light... still works according to my brother, sadly no chocolate left!

  • @stevehamilton3430
    @stevehamilton3430 Před rokem

    Very nostalgic! I would have been overjoyed if Dinky or someone would have produced a die cast TARDIS with little plastic figures if the Doctor and Jo back in the 70's. Instead I resorted to having to make my own Police boxes from cardboard and using any figure I could find who vaguely looked like the characters. Under the dining room table became the interior of the 'Miniscope'. Thank heavens for Chracter Options!

    • @PBProps
      @PBProps  Před rokem +1

      I did pretty much the same; made little cardboard TARDISes in scale with the 3 3/4" toys that looked vaguely like they could be the Doctor. I had high hopes for Dapol in the 1980's, but the reality of the actual toys were a bitter disappointment. Still, they had charm.

      You could always look at it this way; the fact that you added to your DF TARDIS is now part of its history, so it's something to look back on with fondness.
      As to my passion for design etc from my childhood, I've just always loved toys and would make my own. I remember taking my 12" Darth Vader doll to the cinema to see Empire Strikes Back and I was gutted to notice that my doll was wrong - from the incorrect shape to the wrong colouring, it being all black when the face should have been black and grey. It just made me want to do things properly.

      I'm also sorry to hear that you had to sell your K1, but at least you're on your way to pulling another together. If you ever get stuck finding the torso, drop me a line because I'm certain that I have a spare one in storage somewhere.

    Lovely! Sadly, your tale of the Earthquake Neighbours and the tragic damage to your Denys Fisher TARDIS puts me in mind of the beautiful transparent resin Dalek i had on display in my cabinet which, several years ago when the cabinet got shook by rampaging visiting kids, got knocked off its lit pedestal, and the appendages snapped and shattered. I tried to get them replaced, but the original maker has, i suspect, moved on, and i do not, unfortunately, currently have the skill or knowledge to replace them myself, but who knows. As we now live in a far more squeezy house, all my collectables are sadly boxed up for now, but last year i did get the chance to air them, when i lent some choice pieces to the Library across the road.

      Me too. I thought I'd do something a little more personal with this video, rather than a simple "That's my Denys Fisher 4th Doctor dolly, there's a Product Enterprise Movie Dalek..." I like a bit of back story.

    A large majority of Doctor Who merchandise that I have is mainly Character Options stuff and some Dapol and Product Enterprise but other than that it's mostly issues of DWM, DVDs, Big Finish CDs, Books, Graphic Novels and more recently the Standard Edition of the Season 12 Blu-Ray.

      @@PBProps Took years of work but yes. The Product Enterprise and Dapol stuff was when I was very young. It was mostly given to my brother and I kind of inherited it as he grew out of Doctor Who by the time the New Series started.

      This is mutiny, Mr. Sin - mutiny! No, I think that's a reasonable idea, but I'd have to open it just to see the contents. Then of course there's the danger of time spillage involved...

      No, I've not seen Class or any New Doctor Who since 2013 unfortunately. And the last time that I watched any Classic Doctor Who was in 1996. Sounds like you're going to have a lot of fun with writing your own series!

    Hey! I know that due to this whole covid-19 situation you probably can’t do any large projects, but do you ever plan on doing an accurate hartnell box? I am going to modify a B&M TARDIS, while my main troughton box project is at my grandmothers and I don’t want to risk her health, to make a hartnell TARDIS.

      It's on the list as a possibility - if you're talking about CO scale. I'd like to, it's just weather I'd ever get around to it. What I'd prefer to do is make larger versions.

    • @KapybaraKSP
      @KapybaraKSP Před 4 lety

      PB Props I’m making one in CO scale, but I originally wanted to do one in 1/6th scale from those kits that were around. Sadly I can’t find one so a 1/13th (approx) scale one will have to do.

      PB Props yeah, I just need the parts! I was leaning towards the kit because it’s just a bit quicker for me and I LOVE the painting and texturing and assembling, it’s just cutting it out that is my weakest link.

      Not quite, my family come first. Doctor Who for me is nostalgia, I tend to keep it in the background. I almost never watch it - which some people find odd, I don't know why.
