- Alpha, Beta, Omega. No, that’s not the name of a college fraternity. As you probably guessed from the title I was referring to just some of the types of males. Specifically the different male personality types that make up the men of the world. The initial theory started with the idea that human society resembled a wolf pack in terms of there being a hierarchy. Afterall as humans we are all still relatively primitive beings living in an increasingly modern world. So naturally there are some primordial personality types that stemmed from that. You probably know at least of the few of these types that you can think of in your daily life. Who knows after reading this you may look at some of them or even yourself a little differently. Depending on who you ask there are at least six different male personality types.

OK this is just crazy. I’ve watched several videos on personality types and I’ve taken several tests. I’ve had results that say I’m a gamma, or sigma, or a beta, or omega. I watch your videos and see that I have traits in every personality type, and also lack particular traits in each. I’m beginning to think this is all just like astrology telling a person what their personality is, that it is so generalized, if you pay attention, then you could be anything.

A psychologist friend explained this to me. Testing determines how much of each personality type we emulate and which is dominant. So I was wrong in my initial skepticism. In astrology, claims that the stars determine your personality based on when you were born is due to the confusion created. It’s not that we have characteristics of each but that the descriptions do, so we can see ourselves reflected by each. If you have an open mind, you can see that the description has some of your traits in each, but you generally only read your own. When you only read your own and see some of these traits in yourself, you are fooled into thinking it is accurate when it is just ambiguous. Personality types are a mixture. Astrology is deliberately all encompassing.

Edit: the author of the books on wolves is David Mech, he has way too many books for me to just reference one. He is the one who first came up with the alpha in the pack and later realised that he had studied wolves in captivity. Animals do not act naturally in captivity and he redid his studied with wolves in the wild.
Fun fact, the guy who first published the book on wolves and their alphas, spent the rest of his life trying to explain to people that he was wrong and that wolve packs don't have alphas, wolf packs have a family unit, where the parents are the co-leaders

There is no alfa, beta and omega Wolf; there are just parents, sons/doughters and, what people call "lone wolves" are simply the young adult who leave the family for making their own.
In reality the "alpha-beta" hierarchy is typical of primates, like men.

I remember way back when the was just either an A or B personality type, this became Alpha or Beta…then came Sigma, now gamma, delta, omega, zeta etc. I’ve always been interested in human behavior and the need so many people have to find a label that “fits” them…just remember you’re not a Greek letter, you’re an individual

I think everyone has a mix of each at various levels. Some people may have lots of Alpha in them but it's being blocked by a stunted growth in confidence and self worth.
The right mentor and the right state of mind can transform someone who is a downer on themselves into a winner who is perceived as Alpha or Sigma.

I Look down on Alphas and actually think they are the Most pathetic Out of all types, cause they actually are Just betas WHO did everything 2 become an Alpha.

I had one on my Team playing Basketball He was the 2nd best Player on IT, son of the Coach, His dad was a national Player For a Short Period of time For the country i lived in.

He was Always the loudest and seeking Attention.
I was kinda Friends with him until i realized He was treating me rly Bad.

I never understood this cause i saw all of These Guys(OK Tbh Just the best Players in my Team as my Friends and all of Them we're Till parts of my Life, but aß Said Sometimes they mocked me For No reason, meaning i could Not understand why they did IT at the time.

Before WE Played them 1 Player told me what the regional Coaches Said about me and of course IT got into my head.
I also later found Out that im specially gifted trough my study of Job.

None of these seem like actual personality traits, but rather a social pecking order anyone could possibly be involved with depending on the specific scenario. For example a beta at home could be a delta about town, an omega at work, and an alpha when coaching little league games. The Alpha drill Sgt. could quickly adopt a submissive beta posture just the very moment the Colonel shows up.

The Alphas are puppets of the Sigmas, the Sigmas run things behind the scenes, the Betas are the yes men minions that keep things running, the Gammas are the calm and collected that sit back and observe the others, the Omegas are jus the normal people living under the thumb of the Alphas, Deltas are the guys simply sitting back and watching the world burn as they almost laugh at the power struggles between the others, and the Zetas simply go against the status quo and act as opposition to the hierarchy.

Got some traits from all these. I just believe humans, male or female, just evolve and adapt to their surroundings and environments, reacting to specific situations. To refine and categorize personality types is a good idea initially, but not too practical in the grand scheme of things.

When I need to take charge I do, when I need to stay calm I do, when I need to be prepared or isolated, I will, I know when and where it's appropriate. Not saying one can't live alone. It is nice at first. You may be one who enjoys solitude your whole life. Or you may find the need for support or contact after time. But we are all different.

As with most actual science-based personality tests, people are rarely either 100% this or that. It seems to be more of a spectrum where you find yourself in. In reality, most men are a combination of these but the emphasis will vary (ex. Predominantly alpha male but with sigma traits). It is also context depended. A professional soldier might be viewed as a beta or delta male in his squadron, but at home he might be the alpha. After all I agree with most here that these terms shouldn't be taken too seriously. Instead of labeling ourselves as men, just invest in your growth and development becoming the best man you can be.
Sigmas are unique ones bc they do not depend on society mentally. Thats a huge difference. 99,999% of people want to be like and with others. Sigmas do not. They just do not need it at all.
Alpha: ENTJ, ESTJ
Beta: ESFJ, ENFJ, ISFJ, INFJ
Delta: ISTJ
Gamma: INFP, ISFP, ENFP, ESFP, INTJ
Omega: INTP, ISTP, ENTP, ESTP
Sigma: INTJ (not all of them)
Zeta: INFP (not all of them)
Makes a bit of sense, though, as an INTJ, I'm more goal oriented than sigma male is.
These things can change as you change roles in life that require different skill sets and mind sets. When I was a sub nuclear plant operator I tested one way. When I moved to a counseling kind of job I tested differently.

The human mind and how it is expressed, is much more complex to be compared with Wolves. Yes, there are some things to learn from nature, and certainly there are some common things in humans also, but each human is unique and has some good and bad traits that differentiates them.
Don’t take this alpha-beta stuff seriously. People like it, because they can identify themselves with a tag. Personality, social status and dominance is a spectrum. As it is true that there are over-successful men out there, everyone can get to be these top 15% of males.
Basically a male version of astrology.
Sigma often represents the summation of a set of numbers. We are a summation of all that only sigmas understand. It is a way for others to label the unlabelable.
I think most people are a blend of these types, I am probably a gamma since it seems to line up with my personality, but I have tendencies of all them. I don’t mind submitting to other people when it’s appropriate like my boss or when someone is in charge of a project, but I’ll take charge when it’s appropriate like a project I specialize in or making decisions I am knowledgeable in. I think It’s important to have a balance between all these trait’s, that is what makes a TRUE ALPHA
I totally agree with what you said. I heard the Gammas as was like, that's me. Then I kept hearing other traits I have in all the other ones. Since Gammas were the only one that mentions empathy, I would say that's me. But like you, I have no problem following someone else's lead and have no problem taking the lead especially if no one is going to step up. You are also right having a balance of them all really make you the ALPHA. Glad I am not the only one.

I have to disagree with you and your comments about the Sigma Male as "manipulative". Sigmas are lonely and never have the need of "being manipulative" just to seek someone's approval. This is more of a trait from the Alpha Male who is indeed the type of man who wants to be the center of attention and will not hesitate in using manipulation tactics just to get what he wants. Sigmas are at the same level of Alphas just that they keep a lower profile by personal choice and the Alphas want to be the center of everything. You get the difference? Your comments about sigmas as manipulative people is totally wrong!
Exactly, I've always been very honest with employers, co-workers friends and women I've been in relationships.
Not at all, I’d very much say I’m a sigma male and although I would never have an interest in dominating a social group or similar, if I’m in a situation with someone else who doesn’t necessarily see how to work towards the best outcome I will try and steer a path to it. Manipulation has bad connotations but it doesn’t necessarily have to be used for negative things. It simply means steering someone in an intended direction.
It's true sigmas are loner types (monks e.g) Beta's are more manipulative due to their nice guy traits influencing the others to agree with his fake and just personality to agree with him is like "I''ll do this and you should too" and the rest of the pack will be agree and be a yes man to a manipulative beta male

I think I am a gamma, and even if I am not one, I want to be one. The versatility of emotions and the not exactly perfectionistic but that deep consideration in actions is really important to prevent blunders in life. I want to be like that.

From this description it seems my current personality is a Gamma mixed with a Sigma and somewhat of a Delta.
I despise Alphas and Betas, i have no interest in bossing people around, and definitely no interest in being bossed around by anyone else; i only do as i am told when i choose to do so, and i will command only those who desire me to command them, unless they have been naughty enough to merit harsh attention.
And i am too fond of genuine social interactions to find attraction in a Zeta lifestyle, even though it has its merits, especially for learning and for independent work.
Since i know all personality is malleable and that i am not really my person/body but rather an eternal spiritual center of willpower and its immortal soul of pure consciousness, currently incarnated in a mortal male body = person, i am deliberately cultivating my own personality traits however i see fit; currently i am incorporating lots of Sigma traits, for my own sake and my own reasons.
Anyone not appreciating me enough in their life to treat me right, or trying to control or humiliate me will, if they do not listen to kind but sharp correction from me, get the silent treatment while i retain my confidence (or i will tell them harshly what they are doing, especially if i can shame them in front of others by calling them out, and that i will not tolerate their behaviour, this is a dire warning to them, given in compassion), which will usually make them nervous, and if they still persist i will cut them out of my life and they will probably regret losing me, which is their problem, not mine.
People who do appreciate me on the other hand, and treating me the way i deserve will find a very loyal, honest, intense, compassionate, intelligent, fun, caring and responsible friend or partner however.
While i both value my alone time and my small social network of trustworthy friends, reasonable family members and valuable romantic partner(s), i am not afraid to lose anyone who doesn't see my worth, because i know i will always find a new and better one. This goes for everyone, no exceptions (except possibly my own children).
I will however make sure not to lose anyone WORTHWHILE through faults of my own, it must be due to their fault if i am to lose them, otherwise i will work hard to retain valuable people who i might have unintentionally wronged, but if they wrong me too much and do not atone in time, i will cut them out with no regrets. I will not try keeping undeserving people, it will be their loss rather than mine.
I love to thwart and punish narcissists, to destroy (the reputation of) psychopaths, to expose machiavellianists and to disarm bullies, almost as much as i love to lift, reward and coevolve with honorable, hard working and kind people, i thoroughly enjoy both habits, both the later lighter one, and the former darker one, although too much of fighting darkness will strain and deplete me, therefore i strive to focus on the light, which will renew me and let me grow.

I definitely found something from every box. But I strongly feel that I dont fit into any of these categories. I could believe that some of my friends would describe me as Sigma, but im definately not confident. I know who I am and what I can do, but most often I choose not to do anything because I dont think its worth it or I just dont care.
Some others might describe me as a chill underachiever who let people push me around. But I dont find thats the truth either, I simply dont care if people try to put me down, because their opinion mean nothing to me. But on the contrary, I can get very angry if people close to me are hurt, but I dont care about myself at all.
I would study 10 hours, highly concentrated, full focus, without breaks, to learn a topic I had no prioer knowledge of, to help my ex gf get a good grade on an exam and it would make me truly happy inside, to see her succeed.

The sigma things are the ones more like me (at least in my mind), but it took a long time for me to understand that these "sigma" features are my real ones....during my growth (until like 25 years) I was more guided to the "alpha" features (and that made me get into a LOT OF TROUBLE/FIGHTS, cause you don't win everytime, especially when the "other" competing alpha gets you by surprise). So I matured to be this kind of lone wolf (with that profissional kind of background described in the video) that doesn't take shlt from anyone (but has a more "refined" way to deal with the conflict)...
I think that there is no a definitive type of personality. I personally posses traits of 4 type personalities described. And, since i don't think of myself as anything special, i am more than confidant that there is no male on this planet who perfectly fits in just one single personality box.

What are the different between Zeta male and Sigma male.
Nothing much really. I've always questioned the existence of the Zeta archetype. For me they are just Omegas without the fanatism for introvert activities (like videogames) or a mix of deltas-sigmas.
The idea of these archetypes is to identify clear features to group, not make them overly complex. Because at the end of the day, these archetypes are flexible, they allow variables. So it's unnecessary to make a whole new archetype just from a little difference found in someone.

I came to the realization that I fit the description of sigma males at least 95%. I think some of these so called categories though are just more like personality traits than actually a different category of male. A few of these main trait descriptions of other "categories" also fit me as a sigma male. For instance, I am celibate. My last date was 7 years ago. The realist sigma male part of me has realized that there are FAR more problems to dating than it's worth. I think we are trying to make personality traits into whole separate categories at this point.
