  • A Scottish hill walking Classic, The Ring of Steall circuit with a wild camp.
Kevin and I head off to the Mamores mountain range in Glen Nevis to take on the fantastic Ring of Steall, we decide to make the most of the circuit by wild camping along the way. A great hike and night under canvas.

I did these about a week after Sgurr Ibhnuir (spelling) was demoted from a munro to a top, except I didn't know that at the time, so there I was, celebrating bagging 5 munros in a day to find out a few days later that it was really only 4, wasn't happy!

Nice camping spot! I did the RoS last Friday with three friends. I camped near Steall Falls. We all loved it - two of my friends found the wire bridge much scarier than the Devil's Ridge! We did most of the scramble at the beginning, but turned back at the slabby bit - thought the consequences of getting it wrong might be a bit harsh. Same with the Crux bit on the Devil's Ridge - I did most of it, but then bottled it at the downclimb. It just looked potentially a very long way down! Kev made it look easy. Maybe next time. The views were amazing.

Hey Natalie, Steall Meadows is a stunning place to camp, out of midge season. 😆

Hi Alan, it is a good defined route but it's quite demanding too. I'd save this one until you're a bit more experienced. A good app like OS Maps app is recommended, use on flight mode to save your battery. A signal can be found on most summits, but bealachs and glens might not have coverage.
