How did race play a role in enslaving africans in colonial America?

White privilege was written into laws. A white man could enslave whomever he wished, black, Indians or other white people. Even if they converted to christianity during their enslavement. It also became easier to keep slaves if they were black as opposed to white indentured servants since if they ran away they could be easily distinguished in public.
Really it came down to white privilege. Even free black men had some basic liberties revoked as slavery advanced in the colonies.
The more I learn, the more disgusted i get by the actions of whites and the hardships of everyone else.
