    From a “CZcams career” standpoint, I can totally understand wanting to make the videos that do well. As a consumer of your content, I will say your tech videos are enormously helpful to me. I would love to see a template video of yours as I have yet to set one up for myself.

    The only problem with your content is that I want more of it and you likely can’t create the content as quickly as I can watch it

    Your channel is such a treasure trove to me, as I’m pursuing engineering and have to work towards my goal of becoming a film composer on the side (blended with a music minor). Please never stop making these videos! 💜 Also please continue this series! I would love to see more

    Id love to see more videos like this! I love learning composing concepts, but my biggest roadblock as a composer is interfacing with software and actually getting my ideas down without wasting time and losing momentum. Thanks for the color coded regions tip! That sounds very helpful.

    I'm probably the exception, but I've worked with computers for over 40 years and find this to be about all the detail I need, more as confirmation of my thinking than actual instruction. What I need is the composing and orchestration help to move from a cowboy songwriter to creating soundtracks for my animation.
    But whatever you do, I'll be watching it.

    6:30 a slight response to this: since the speed of light is faster than the speed of sound, it's not uncommon for composers to write a hit slightly earlier than the mark, since the audience won't register the sound at the same speed as the image.

    I'm very interested in music topics, scoring for movies, writing, and analyzing music, etc. Thanks for creating these videos! I'm a performing musician and I'm starting to get into more creating music for different contents, so thanks for your tips!
    Also continue the harmonizing and orchestration videos, very interesting! Thanks 💪🏻

    I’m glad you are using a track as a “marker track”. I’ve started doing this as a hack not knowing if there was a better way. Some times, I like having also my chords listed in a “marker track”.

    Super handy! Thank you for showing us the more technical side of composing.
    One question about midi cc. Say you have a part where the strings are lower in dynamics and the next part you want to make a new recording where the strings are louder but the cc values of the last recording are still taking effect even if you have nothing recorded for the next part.
    How do you reset cc values back to 0 to keep writing new ideas?

    Thanks for the great content Ryan, I have a question, im currently working on my first full length score and the music along with all other audio is going to another engineer for surround mixing and mastering.
    I wrote the music for the score with stereo in mind and im wondering how I should export stems for the engineer? Should I send every instrument group as a track along with reverbs and stuff or should I send stems that are more akin to function, such as Atmospheric, bass, percussion, lead instruments etc.?
    I realize I should talk to the engineer and ask what they would prefer but the team behind the movie hasnt actually hired anyone yet and it would be nice to start preparing now! :)

    • @RyanLeach
      @RyanLeach  Před 7 měsíci

      Ha yea unfortunately you are right that question is best answered by the engineer!

    Hey Ryan, loved the video, thank you so much. I have a question, tho. When writing for a live orchestra how would things be timed because you can't have exact tempos and tempo changes right?

  • @dafaught
    @dafaught Před 7 měsíci

    Where does the actual written score for the orchestra come from for this competition?

  • @Cameron_Norby
    @Cameron_Norby Před 7 měsíci

    The DAW that I use isn't Logic, and it doesn't have the frame-matching feature or a good video preview. I can't get the video to precisely match the markers or the audio since it lags every time I start playback. Will this be a major handicap in the future if I want to continue trying to score alongside videos?

    • @RyanLeach
      @RyanLeach  Před 7 měsíci

      It sounds like a major handicap

  • @raphaelreina7559

    1.Exportar el video

    I was interested in the contest, so I dug through the charity (In Place of War) and its Israel fundraiser is sorely disappointing. 3 of the 4 associated organizations blatantly use antisemitic tropes, deny Israeli suffering, fail to mention the Israeli hostages still being held by Gazan terrorists, or so forth. Not a good look to have blatant jew hatred in the larger charity.
    The hack music catalyst fund supports arts in "The Global South", which excludes Israel but includes hostile countries and occupied territories around it that participated in the October 7th terror attacks and the ongoing aggression against Israel and Jews abroad since. While IPOW didn't create the concept of the Global South, this might require clarification. Neutral parties that 1) fail to mention Israeli hostages, 2) adopt antisemitic narratives, or 3) exclude Israel by boycotts, groupings, denying Israel's right to exist, etc, do not inspire a ton of confidence in their neutrality and in their charitable action more generally.
    Unfortunately, the arts and charities are not at all immune to the rising trend of antisemitism.
