- Another new model from Asvine; the V200 vacuum filler. I talk about the parts and features of the pen, provide some size comparisons and measurements, and then do a writing sample. After the writing sample, I talk about what I like and what I don't like about the pen. Please feel free to use the chapters provided below to skip to various parts of the review.

Well thanks to this video I have made my very first fountain pen purchase
Awesome!
Congrats! May it give you many hours of writing pleasure!
What nib type and size did you buy?
Thanks, Doug. It’s always a treat to see a new upload from you.
My pleasure!
Excellent review. Detailed, thorough and complete. Thanks, Doug.
Thanks for watching!
Hey Doug,
1- is it better the Bock nib than the Asvine? Do you note the difference too much? If it cost $10 plus, i expect it worth it.
2- 12:37 You did a great job reapiring it...But is sad that you pay $50 and you get "baby bottoms" in a new product, bad for Asvine
3- 17:21 You didn't say anything bad or "what you didn't like" about the Asvine V200. That's an excellent score for it. 👍🏽👍🏽
4- You should anodize it shadding multicolos, or various parts in differents colors.......or maybe another option: Anodizing in purpple 👌🏾
5- I hope to have enough money to buy that beautiful fountain pen one day. It looks amazing
greetings from a Colombian Army soldier. Excuse me for my english 🙏🏽
Thanks so much! It is hard to say the Bock nib is worth the extra money because it is the luck of the draw. I've had a couple of Bock nibs that were fantastic but most are no different than the standard Asvine nibs.
Picked one up last month on Amazon. Got it quickly. Yes, well made and an excellent writer!
Terrific!
the v200 is fantastic, i like mine so much i am actually considering buying a second one
I really like your handwriting, Doug
It's like a visual FP ASMR 🤗
Oh thank you!
Nice review, as always. Asvine design is very cool.
It really is!
Doug, thanks for the best video yet. I really like that pen. I also do like my V1 26. It looks like they can be purchased for around $40 now. I’ll keep you posted, sir. And thanks again for such a great video, my man.
Thanks Wayne!
Thanks!
Thank you SO much for your generous support @jls3220. That is much appreciated!
I came here to watch the review but I'm mesmerized by the ink shimmer. I'm a big supporter of Asvine.
Yay!
I think it is so wonderful that Asvine came out with this v200, it looks absolutely amazing and best of all it saved me $1000 from buying the Conid Bulkfiller Pen. Thank you for your great review!!
Great to hear!
3. Anodize in blue! Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful song you played at the begining. Very nice review. Asvine makes great affordable pens. My favorite is the V126. Option #2.
Thanks Santa!
I used my Pineider Ink Filler to get a full fill of my Asvine V200.
It works beautifully!
@@InkquiringMinds yes, it does!
I just received the V200 and swapped the nib for a Bock Titanium nib. What a writer!
It is also very comfortable to use. I think perhaps moreso that the P36.
Thanks for the review, Doug.
If you do anodize the pen, i think it would be nice to do different colors for the trim.
Great to hear!
I would love it. However, a 1.1 stub would be divine.
Had mine, with a Bock EF, for a couple of weeks. I have small handwriting and many EFs are a tad wider than I'd like. The Bock EF is excellent in that regard.
I prefer mine not adonized, keeping it more or less as it was out of the box. Love the look of brushed titanium -- no other colour quite like it.
Thanks for sharing!
My anodization vote: anodize in one color, preferably blue. It’s an elegantly minimalist design, so multicolor anaodization doesn’t seem fitting to me.
I'd like to see a gold anodization to see how it would match a gold nib.
Anyway, thank you!
Leave it alone! Great video. 👍
Thanks 👍
Anodize in blue, green, and teal
Leave it alone. The titanium does not detract from the colour of the ink in the plain configuration.
Great review, as always ! Can you suggest some better material nibs in fine extra fine?
The Asvine nib isn’t too bad. If you want German steel, a Jowo #6 is nice.
I’m diggin’ the titanium with that ink. I would want to keep it the way it is as to enjoy different inks against titanium. I love your anodized pens so that’s sayin a lot. Cheers
Thanks for the tip!
Well done review, as usual, of a pen that I'm resisting. If Asvine releases a version with either the teal or frosted blue they have for the V126, I will have another pen. :)
Really though, I did just get the Kaweco piston filler and that has used up my play money budget for a little while. I expect to get one of these in another month or so.
Thanks for bringing us along!
Nice!
Those frosted colors on the V-126 are all great, I’m very tempted to get a third in blue, as Doug showed. And the amber…
Nice video! I think baby’s bottom is pretty common on Asvines. I experienced it on both a P20 and V126.
Thanks for the info
Experienced the same thing here, although it may be because I was playing with the flex too much. Left it alone for a while and it’s fine now
Thanks for your review, really nice video as usually you did. Just today I ordered this pen, I like how my P36 writes and hope this works as good as it is. A question, where did you get your micro-mesh set? thank you.
Good choice! I bought one at Lee Valley Tools and the other complete set on Amazon.
Thank you for the review. I would leave the titanium alone. If you do want to anodise then gold would be my preference. I'll be interested in the outcome.
Thanks!
Great video! thanks. My P36 has a different cap. It ends with the titanium ring like the V200. They must have made a revision. I thought some people might want to know that.
Yeah they revised the cap design shortly after introducing the P36
Dang. It might be too heavy for me. It's a great working pen.
I really appreciate the how to on for to get a full fill with a VAC filler. I figure this method will work for any vac filler not just this one. 😊
Yes, most vac-fillers will work with this method.
I absolutely love this review, so detailed! I have this pen as well, but no matter what I do, it doesn't write normally. When I write with it, it looks as if I have run out of ink. Or sometimes it writes for a bit, then no more. Any tips on how to make it work? Thanks!
Clean it. Rinse it. The let the nib/feed soak in some water with a drop of dish soap for a while. Then rinse, dry, and refill.
@@InkquiringMinds Thank you so much for your help! It works perfectly now!
What a great history on the brand and a great review! I know that no Asvine can use rollerballs like PenBBS per your comment! Quick question, what types or brands of inks should be avoided when using a PenBBS rollerball unit?
Any shimmering or permanent inks.
@@InkquiringMinds how does one know if a FP is considered “permanent” vs not? Do brands like Diamine or others make both types?
Hi there. What is the ink you are using at the beginning of your videos writing “Inkquiring minds”? Thank you.
J Herbin Kyanite du Nepal
Interesting, your comparison of the cap with the P-36, your P-36 has acrylic below the cap band, both of my P36s have a cap band that is very similar to the V200 cap band.
They did a cap band redesign shortly after the P36 was introduced.
I got it with the Bock Broad- it writes perfect and I am very happy with the pen. It satisfied my itch for a Conid at a fraction of the price. Thanks Doug.
Great to hear!
Anodize in gold to match the bock nib
It would look awesome!
Nice neat trick. I will try it out (fingers crossed that I won't spray ink all over the place).
You can do it!
@@InkquiringMinds Thanks for the confidence. I will let you go how it goes! Fingers crossed!
@@InkquiringMinds Neat trick! I had a try more than a couple of times but I finally worked it out. Just got ink on my fingers but no catastrophic mess!
Would you say this pen is good value? Or should we save up more and get a higher brand gold nib pen? Because this one is 55euros if i wanna get it right now. And i have seen some 100-150 dollar gold nib good brand pens. Thanks in advance!
This is an excellent, well-built pen!
You can try Multi colour
Any idea why this pen is only available on Amazon? I mostly buy on Aliexpress but can't seem to find this pen anywhere else but Amazon.
Sally says it will be available on Etsy soon.
What ink is used in the intro scene?
J Herbin Kyanite du Nepal
Will a 14kt God Bock nib fit on the Bock version of this pen?
Sure!
@@InkquiringMinds do you know which Bock width will work? I see a few variations of the 14kt gold nib, 060, 180, 076, 250, 380 versions? I'm so confused... I was looking for a 14kt gold in extra fine.
@superwellplayed As far as I can tell the Bock 250 is the #6 equivalent
@@InkquiringMinds thank you so much for the help. I usually eat crayons but these fountain pens are addicting. I hope I don't buy any more...
@superwellplayed LOL
I experienced the same filling problem with the V126. At best I got 50% capacity. I tried your method of filling and it did not seem to work as well. I thought that the only thing I could do was bulk fill the pen.
I am seriously upgrading to the V200. Sally still does not have the pen available so perhaps it is to Amazon I go. I like the Titanium version. I have the P36 and this would be a nice compliment to the collection.
As an aside, I have the Admok M800. I have the Schmidt nib and it is a wonderful writer but has developed ink leakage at the nib. Never seen this before. Any suggestions?
Check the nib unit is tight and that it has both o-rings.
I also had filling problems with my V126. It may not be a scientific solution but I just kept the nib and feed submerged in the ink and filled and emptied several times. I created a small volcano of ink; from the bottle; with this method so I recommend using an ink bottle that is not a new, full bottle! But I did get a complete fill.
@@InkquiringMinds I pulled the nib assembly and there were no rings! I put one on from the penBBS parts pack. Hopefully this will help.
@@paulmchugh1430 There should be two. One white/clear one at the top of the nib unit and one thick black one on the tail.
My Asvine P36 with its fine nib performs fairly bad and skips lines, particularly the horizontal strokes. Now I understand that probably it has baby's bottom, too.
Probably!
Leave it alone:)
In the US it is only available on Amazon and it took 3 weeks to get ...... I am guessing the former: selling like hot cakes
Yes, here too.
$28,no need for a review, like a steal.
Very nice review indeed! Personally I wouldn't anodise it. I like the colour of the titanium as it is, although it works so well on the P36. Maybe it has something to do with the curves. I also wouldn't risk getting it with the Bock nib, as it is a hit-or-miss game in general. I am rather surprised that you had to deal with baby's bottom on this one, as the Asvine nibs have been so consistent for the past few years. Oh well, at least you could fix the lemon. Kudos!
Fair enough!
Anodize every part in different colours please! Anodizing looks great and I'd like to see how every colour is done. 😇🩷🙏🙌
Noted!
I like the Cabernet ink, so if red anodization is an option... I forgot about the section being glued into the P36, thanks for the reminder. As I said to the unboxing: great, solid engineering, dull design this v200.
Red doesn’t happen so much as pink.
Still not available on eBay, which tends to be a sign it's selling like hot cakes, or else going down like a lead balloon 😀
I think it will be insanely popular! A Conid-like titanium pen for $50.
I love Asvine, but this one is way to clunky looking. I'll pass on this one. I love the look of the grip and the nib, but the cap and the end are too big and blocky. Looks too heavy too.
Why do fountain pens always get to wear the tuxedos ? Why can't a gel ink pens ( which is far less fussier and cleaner) exhibit the same glamour and style of the classic fountain pens ? Nope , gel pens are disposable utilitarian writing instruments fashioned out of cheap plastic that are unfit to be in the company of the high-class fountain pens.
You can get Montblanc rollerball/gel pens for $750!
@InkquiringMinds True , I understand that old fountain pens can be retrofitted and adapted to take a modern rollerball or balk point insert. This is probably the route I'll go, that is, fuse the classic with the modern.
