Man im glad you reviewed this. Owl City, after all these years still holds a very very special place in my heart, and this album is probably the most important in my life, dope review as always!
100% agree, as close at it gets to a 10/10 album imo, so ahead of its time in production and so impactful for such a lighthearted album
Still my favorite album of all time. you put all my feelings on it in perfect words. i hate how overlooked it is because of critics and the postal service. It was my first 10/10 as well. amazing video dude
This was my first real album, I used to play it every night on the old CD Player next to my bed when i was in elementary school
Excellent review. Personally I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on the songs which are only on the deluxe edition. IMO some of the album’s best songs are those extra ones. Then again, that would’ve made for a long video. Cheers ✌🏻
Bought this cd for $3 I think, a year or two ago. Cave In is my favorite
Trap Town taking over the comment section
Perfectpizza6 lmao I have no idea what’s going on
LandonRemixes // Electronic Music Reviews lmao
*i used to listen to this album non stop back in 2009 when i was 15 .. this album sounds so magical and the lyrics are out of this world..it will take you to different head space its like you are dreaming but you'are wide awake.*
this is a really great review!! i’ve always preferred Maybe I’m Dreaming, but there’s no doubt how influential this album has been since it came out!!
_Ocesn Eyes_ sounds ethereal, modest and bubbly all at once. It's a magical experience that no other album can replicate or compete with.
If my heart was a house, Vanilla Twilight and The Saltwater Room will always hold a special place in my heart
Well mate, I’m one of those people that will blow your mind, cause I haven’t heard this LP xD; I was listening to some porter Robinson stuff and I actually got interest to see why Owl City was one of the related artist people say inspired his worlds style. Anyway I’ll listen to this for sure now that I saw your review, keep the great content!
An excellent review. Definently captured the greatness of his lyrics
Everyone: Why are you reviewing this ancient album?
Landon: *REVIEW IS REVIEW*
I really enjoyed this review, your thoughts on each song, especially the postal service comparison that we're constantly plagued with.
It's a huge shame he kind of dropped off after 2011 apart from the Ultraviolet EP which I thought was fantastic.
Cinematic was pretty good but I think it lacked some of that earlier magic on a lot of the songs.
But I wouldn't say there's really any album that I dislike, I just think Adam's got the potential to do better stuff.
This along with All things bright and beautiful is easily in my top 3 albums of all time.
It's pure magic in music form to me.
It's a shame you never got to cover the album after this or maybe I'm dreaming before you stopped making reviews, but it is what it is.
Best wishes 🙌
u lookin fresh af boi
Essenger nah u

I think the fireflies is about when you are dreaming and you don't want to wake up from the dream because the dream is so interesting you want to know what happens next when i was a kid this used to happen to me my mom would wake me up and my dream was still not over lol
Oh wow, wasnt expecting this!
Also are u planning on talking about After Dark?
Ahri yep!
What's this song about Owl City - The Saltwater Room i know is about 2 kids wanting to fall in love but why do they want to fall in love or they already like each other and want to love each other song a bit confusing for me i wanted to know what you guys think is about
You can't say the lyrics are completely nonsensical. In the song "Fireflies", there is great meaning behind every lyric. You can understand the lyrics if you pay more attention, look up what they mean. In the song "Dental Care", we can see the lyrics are strung together in humorous fashion, creating great puns throughout. "Cave In" and "Tidal Wave" are both clearly about the depression and monotony of everyday life the artist endures. "Vanilla Twilight"- every single lyric refers to the death of someone he dearly misses. "The Tip of the Iceberg" is simply about the joy winter brings, and the how much it would be to skate to Alaska and back. These are just some of the few examples on this album. Personally, whenever you mentioned 'nonsensical' it felt like you were dismissing the Owl's work. DO some more research about those lyrics, you won't regret it.
I didn’t mean to come across saying every song is nonsensical, more just Fireflies specifically. I remember reading an interview where he just wrote down whatever popped into his head or rhymed line by line, and it isn’t really supposed to make any sense haha
@@landonfleury Oh right I see what you mean now but there still is meaning I mean if you go on Genius Lyrics you can find the reasoning and background to this song!
Wasnt Matt thiessen a part of Fireflies? Remember i thought there was some Relient K/Thiessen vibes in melodies and somewhat lyrics when i listened to Ocean eyes when it came out. Matt Thiessen is singing back vocals on couple of songs and remember without first knowing that 2nd verse had to be Thiessen in Tidal Wave. Just a couple of years ago i came to understand Thiessen was "a part" of making Ocean eyes. 😋
@@patriksoderlund6428 Thiessen sang the response vocals on Fireflies, I can’t remember if he co-wrote it but he’s the voice that sings “please take me away from here”
I really loved your review! Although I'm disappointed that you didn't give any mention of "If my Heart Was a House" which is one of my favorite songs from the album.
elsen. This is a review of the normal edition not the deluxe!
@@landonfleury Ahhhh okay, makes sense.
Will you review the deluxe tracks?
When this album came out I was a huge metal fan but like most people I was introduced to it from a woman and I'm glad I was. Absolutely love this album, but hearing that it's slightly Christian is like finding out the band you like is composed of a bunch of weirdos.
wait so ocean eyes was inspired off of give up? for real? where does owl city say that
Adam has talked about it in interviews before
@@landonfleury ok could you please link me an interview where he says that please? Thanks
@@DeeK1992 www.nytimes.com/2009/11/21/arts/music/21owl.html?_r=1
@@landonfleury thanks for the article but in there it says "Mr. Young said the Postal Service was never a model yet he considered the comparisons an honor."
@@DeeK1992 I guess you’re right, I was thinking of the line where he says Ocean Eyes could be the next chapter of TPS since they never released a second album
