    🔮 More about this video
Europe has some of the best and most innovative camper vans. The Adria Twin is definitely one of those. Like so many of its competitors it is available on the Fiat Ducato platform. But, the entry-level Axess is built on the Citroen Jumpy chassis. Its front lounge and permanent rear bed layout is tried and true among its competitors but the Adria Twin sports some design features that can't be found on any other camper van.
One such innovation is the Adria Sky roof - a double panoramic window at the front of the coach that basically takes up the entire roof above the cab. The window lets in a ton of light and opens the lounge up to give it a much bigger interior feel. It's like stepping into the Tardis.
The second major innovation is with the bathroom. At first glance the bathroom looks like a normal 3 piece wet bath: the toilet, sink and shower share the same area. But the sink, counter and mirror are on a wall that pivots around to entirely cover the toilet and create an independent shower stall. It's an amazing feat of engineering and something that I've not seen on any other RV.
The rest of the Adria Twin is standard fare. There's a galley with plenty of storage, a permanent rear bed that flips up to give you pass through storage. There is an optional electric bed lift that gives you enough room when the bed is raised to store a motorbike in the back.
Base price for the Adria Twin is around €49k Euros but with the optional luxury and Motorhome 2 packs the price can go as high as €64k and above.

$72k. There's no way you'd get out the door here from the silly NA manufacturers for all of that. The bathroom is absolutely brilliant! I have to believe the companies that make RV"s here are just completely out of touch with trying to build something quality for their customers and are more interested in making junk that falls apart in a few years just so they can up their profits. I get that they need to make money, but sell me something that is quality for a reasonable price, I don't see it happening anytime soon unless we can get some of these companies from Europe in here. This is more or less why we are seriously looking at buying a van and building it out ourselves.

I hear ya. that's why I do these videos. I do speak with all the ceos of the manufacturers and they know about my channel and videos. many watch them. they also read your comments. so i'm hoping that in some small way that doing videos like this helps us to move the industry here in North America in a better direction.

      @@Ultramobility Someday we might buy a B
I've spent 6 months now investigating the B market
and as a consumer, I'm horrified as to what I see
and the reason we have not bought yet
      nor may we ever buy
I see a market geared for the sports car family - a 2 seater
trying to find a B that can handle even for just 24 hours 4 people is really hard
even those that do supply 4 3-point seatbelts (something very rare)
have 2 people trying to sleep in captain chairs and not beds
Sadly these days "American ingenuity" seems to be limited
to how clever a person can be at outwitting our welfare system or our borders
The B market is ripe for a Honda or a Toyota to step in and own in a matter of a few months
      if they want it
      P.S.
The price difference between a fully loaded large SUV and a B is almost nill
yet the versatility for a family is enormous - a ripe new market to be exploited

No Left Turns do you like the cassette toilet? I have no experience with it, but I don’t think I want to empty one. I’m hoping the Hymer Aktiv Loft Edition adds a black tank in the future. I do like the shower swivel, but wonder if there is a chance moisture would be a problem when the shower side is closed.

right? I mean Winnebago selling the Revel for what something like $120k? and it's nowhere near this quality. This van could be had for less than $80k us dollars and it just blows the Revel away in terms of fit, finish and build quality. not hating on the Revel but seriously...

Ugh, you're killing me! I made the mistake a couple of months ago of looking at European campervans online and saw SO many thing I want. I gotta have a front lounge and the things they are doing with the bathrooms (also love the rotating "phone booth" door that lets you use part of the walkway for the bathroom when needed) are so much better than anything on offer here in the US. I would pay serious money for these things (in case any manufacturers are listening!) Thanks as always for providing such great information even if this review hurts a little bit :-)

I think one of the best combinations would be marrying European design with American technology, so that the class vans would have solar and lithium systems with large inverters and of course modern quiet air conditioners, which we are accustomed to in North America (well, not the quiet part :-) Have and its Carado division was a good start, but unfortunately the problems with Roadtrek is bringing them down.

I think because there's so much more competition in Europe innovations like we see here are necessary to get your product to stand out. It's not the case here in North America unfortunately. There's room for lots of improvement here both on the quality and innovation front.

The Adria is the only reason I started looking at the ProMaster chassis Class Bs! That lead me to the Aktiv or Aktiv 2.0. The ONLY thing I wanted was the dual-bath option! The European Vans are so much better than what is available here. As I struggle to find a class B (now that Activ is out due to scandal) it boggles my mind as to why we are deprived of these wonderful Euro options. Better vans, better price, we are left out. With the US being such a huge market for RVs I really don't get it.

Neil, Hymer NA is now excluded from the Thor acquisition. Thor has picked up all the european Hymer holdings but deleted EHGNA from the final sale due to irregularities with the books in NA. Apparenly heads have rolled in Kitchener. The German management has flow in and operations have stopped builds for now. Also EHGNA has laid off over 100 employees. Now its up in the air what happens to EHGNA (Hymer/Roadtrek). Will they keep running as is or be sold off cheap. Also what happens to the amazing warranty if the worst occurs?

The best RV I have seen was one we used in Germany in the spring of 1991. It was a small class C, but felt roomy. It had a Diesel Fiat truck that was great on gas and Diesel was cheaper than gas at the time in Germany. It had a bed above the cab and two bunks on the passenger rear and a full toilet and shower on the driver side. The kitchen had everything and the dinette was regular size and 2 kids slept there. It was well insulated and had a pilot light that heated a metal tube that went all over the RV for radiant heat and something like a fantastic fan in the center. The heater was in the rear between the bunks and the bathroom. it was in the 30s and upper 20s and my family of 5 kids and the wife and I were very comfortable. I have not seen anything like it here in the US. We traveled to all the Ludwig castles, Garmisch and Hitlers Eagles Nest and the salt mines. I was an Army Captain at the time and we went from Swimbad to Swimbad and had a great time. Very high-quality RV. Small but roomy. Great on fuel. Nothing on the market like it today. I do not remember the model. We rented it from a German friend. I would buy it if I could find one just like it. Love the channel.

Neil, if you're going to review European camper vans, you must include the Ford Transit-based Flash 634 from France's Chausson. At only 21 feet, it has three power beds (one double and two singles) that lift up to the ceiling to open up two dining/work areas, a full-length lounge chair and plenty of internal storage, including room for bicycles and other large gear in its adjustable rear garage. The van is beautifully designed and appears to be well built. Please check it out, you're followers (especially those with families) will absolutely love it.

Hello again Neil. I've been a fan of yours for some time now. I am planning my retirement which involves joining my daughter and her mom in Estonia in the near future. I was so excited when VW introduced their California XXL concept two years ago and was hoping you'd mention it as it also had a brilliant pull out bathroom/shower and was the first van I saw using this type of sky windows. VW has since scrapped that idea for their less than exciting Grand California. I am still researching my European purchase of a van of this type. This one is very cool. Thanks for the great video. Was at DĂŒsseldorf last fall for the Caravan Salon Show. I thought the Hymercar Free 600 with pop top was for me but for the small impractical bathroom. I had seen this brilliant bathroom design but on a larger class vehicles. It makes perfect sense to bring the concept to this size van. It's been a lot of fun watching and hoping someone makes the perfect van for me. This is indeed the bathroom I would like to have. The sky loft is great but sacrifices a pop top or better solar option. Thanks again. Keep up the great work.

I'm so happy that you are reviewing International RVs too, Neil. Very few people do. I've always liked Adria from Slovenia. and the German and French RVs too. The German ones - Hymer, Dethleffs, Burstner are all well engineered. Looking forward to your incisive reviews on all of these. Thank you for a great job! And thank you for no music while you speak!
It looks like the steering wheel is on the correct side for the US but the electrical system is most likely 220V not 110V. So one cannot import an Adria here without the power grid issue solved. I'm also not sure if there are any issue with registering this vehicle in CA. They are so picky in CA! Thanks for sharing the price with us. $70K is a great price. Is there any way one could fix the power issue?

    Hi Neil,
The bathroom design is one of the best. Considering that Class B sales in North America were up 35% while other RV sales were mostly flat in 2018, It just makes sense for designers here to incorporate more of these ideas. I personally also like the use of fabric versus the faux leather. For me it just feels warmer.

Hi Neil, I’ve just found your excellent channel. As a European RV reviewer, I can honestly say that you have totally nailed it - spot on! You’ve done an amazing amount of thorough research and it shows. I looked at the 2019 Twin when it was launched and it really is a stunner. The 640 SGX is something else. What you might find surprising is that most countries in the EU have a different spec. So a Twin in France or Germany will have the kitchen you show, the same Twin in the UK would have narrower drawers and a fitted oven. Anyway, if you ever get the opportunity to hop over the pond any time I’d be glad to show you around. We’re excited to be hosting Travelling K from New Zealand this summer. Cheers for now, Andrew

really glad that viewers are getting the reason why I did this review. it's important for us here in North America not to be too insulated from what's going on elsewhere. European camper van manufacturers have had to figure out how to deliver great value for the money because of the stiff competition there. I mean honestly if you ever wanted to know how many different manufacturers there are head on over to Alan Heath's channel where he reviews almost daily new camper vans.

I wish Pleasure Way (probably the best Class B stealth camper van in North America) would make a floor plan that combines the Lexor FL features (lithium battery/multiplex wiring) with a bigger front lounge like Adria Twin Supreme (with skylight) and a back lounge that coverts forward or backward to look out the back doors (gull doors would be nice to provide a fold down deck platform) and also goes into a lift bed sleeping 2 (like the Knaus Boxlife class b's) providing a garage below for everyday hauling capabilities. (storage in the Lexor or Accent is very limited) Also the Adria Supreme bathroom wet/dry bath and the a pop up Westvalia style upper birth (sleeping 5 including front air mattress option) would make this the ultimate family Class B Moterhome in North America.

I watch a lot of Euro camper van reviews. Our market is much different here in terms of options that are standard. Manual transmission is common in Europe. AC is often not needed. Cassette toilets are the norm. Europe’s camping market is very different from ours. Our RV parks are different, and some RV’s in Europe require specific driver license endorsements. Very different over there. I notice that their camper vans are built very well too.

For the kind of money most of the B manufacturers are calling for here you would think they would borrow some of the design elements found across the pond. I think as the B family grows in the US we will see better design and not just power type / electric push’s forward. Frankly, I think that the first push her in the US should be QC across the board. But just wow. Table design (lock in and tapered) smart. Skylight even though you loose storage... smart. Bathroom beyond smart!!!!! Thank you Neil .. or damn you NEIL I now have EU design envy. 😉

The low price allows for upgrade to batteries and solar. I'm a carpenter and I am able to do electrical and plumbing, so I was planning on building my own camper, but the price and styling of this van would convince me to purchase instead when the time is right. (if available in the US) I seriously hope North American manufactures are paying attention. There is no need for the consumer to pay 100000 to 200000 for a camper, especially when the products are substandard and cheaply made. I believe this company shows that you can have value and quality at a fair price point.

We’re awaiting delivery of the Adria Twin in March after spending last glorious summer weather without a van.
It’s surprising to us that Americans are interested in van conversions as the roads in the US are reputedly massive. Here in Devon and Cornwall we have lots of very narrow highways that lend themselves to vans like these. In fact the American servicemen and women during the Second World War who were stationed down here thought that our roads were irrigation ducts. I hope that you can all have more options in future and maybe this video will kick off a trend. All the very best in your quest.
