I lived in Los Angeles in the 80's and 90's and Lincoln's were used in livery service and they were driven 300,000 to 400,000 miles and your talking city miles, which are hard miles, now, these livery cars were fleet maintained. There are many many miles left in this beautiful Lincoln. The pocket in the driver's door is a great place to put a piece in, if you can carried concealed, I wish my Grand Marquis had that. Whoever buys this Lincoln, will really love it and in today's extremely high prices, that's a very fair price.

Swap a TC door panel in urr car. Should work fine if any mod is needed it'd be worth it. I use a magnetic mount on mine. Unseen by all but me.

Spectacular condition for an older model... It looks PAMPERED.
The next owner can relax in that this unit likely got detailed every year by orig. owner.
If you keep up the oiling and cleaning this car will easily hit 300 to 400 thousand impeccable miles.
Just under 8000.xx is VERY fair I'd say considering the reconditioning you added.
    Good job Gents. :)

Magnificent! My next-to-last Panther platform Lincoln was a '99 Signature just turned 100K purchased through eBay from a dealer in Mill Basin Brooklyn NY, DBA by way of Delaware; the car itself also came from MA, yet nowhere as clean with a half rag top, moonroof, heated seats, Alpine sound w/ CD changer in the trunk, the same alloys as this car has but shod with Vogues. Drove it til it dropped following a deer collision + a subsequent hailstorm due to intake manifold failure @ 195K or so. This piece-notwithstanding the minute flaws Anthony so assiduously pointed out-is again, magnificent!!

I love this video, this car and the tremendous value it represents. It’s simply amazing that a person can purchase a car that has been Anthonyized to this extent for the high 7’s. When you do the math it seems like an impossible deal. I’m guessing the deal has been made.

Triple nice - no one except Anthony would make a super detailed 32 minute video on an $8k car! Here is a detail tip for your rotors: before installing new rotors, paint the part that rusts with VHT black header paint. I'm a fan of the carriage top and extra chrome. Throw a set of chrome Cartier wheels on there and take it to the next level!

    • @jasonchristopher2977
      @jasonchristopher2977 Před rokem

Use Ospho on them and they will stay new forever. I do this to all unpainted parts and still look new. Cheap, easy u can spray on with any spray bottle, brush etc. Water thin. Ppl think it's only a rust converter. It's used 1st to protect metal from rust. Great stuff. I use for all things. And if ppl who own these cars would protect the air bags with 303, Vaseline, mineral oil etc they ed last a lifetime. I have a set on 99 that's a decade old. No cracks, hard rubber etc. I see so many ppl just cuss the air suspension and say get coils and be done. I've had many of these cars and if u do this with bags and the O ring seals THEY WILL NEVER LEAK. We buy cheap parts made cheap and just bolt or throw them on. That's great. They're made so cheaply they rust, start to deteriorate in a month. It takes a minute to spray, coat etc whatever and have that piece of mind. Especially the power steering lines. Get a jug of Ospho, bottle of 303, or Turtle wax Ceramic and there's nothing that u can't keep looking new for life of car.

I think it is interesting how Lincoln stripped out the options and features and brought them back several years later. I was not a fan of the 1998-2002 Lincoln Town Car styling. I was so glad when they corrected so much with the 2003 to 2011 models. You always do a great deal of work on the cars. It is always interesting to watch. Thank you for sharing.

I love the '98-'02 town car.The only major problem I've seen and experienced with these cars is the premature wear and tear on front suspension parts. When replacing these parts be sure to use good quality parts like moog or probably motorcraft(not even sure the factory original parts are motorcraft). After repairing a few of these that failed I am convinced that the offset factory wheels have something to do with this premature wear.Other than that and the usual lincoln "clockwork" problems,I would trust driving them from coast to coast and beyond.I haven't seen a fraction of the front end problems in the '90-'97s and especially in the'03 and newer when the suspension changed.Mine is a 2001 with 195,000 miles.

its weird coming across this video. last summer i found a 2000 black on black executive same everything minus the sunroof. Mine has the gold accents but has the same miles fabric top, wheels etc. garage kept and in like new condition. paid $1200 for it. did a little work to it and been driving it daily since. belonged to a 95 year old woman that passed away. the son picked it up and by then it needed some common work these cars require. his health was also failing so decided to sell. I love this car. It does get its compliments and looks. Around my area these are still sought after.

Well what I always say when it comes to this model year… Yes the 03s look more refined on the body but Lincoln messed up with all the plastic knobs that fall off and cheap grain. Where on this model the interior holds up way better and they even put Lincoln Logos engraved in the doors.

Some people love this version, some hate it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. However, some of the things that I believe are better in this version than the later ones are:
    1. The interior trim pieces. Door pulls on the later ones tended to disintegrate, not on this series.
    2. The door storage compartments on the later ones had a spring operated opener that often failed when the springs popped loose and got lost.
    3. The compass on this series was where it belonged: in the main instrument cluster, rather than above the windshield.
    4. The seat padding on this series was superior to the later ones, which often became flattened to the point of needing to be restuffed.
Lincoln, in an effort to keep the price consistent from year to year, had to do something to make a profit. The cheapening of materials over the final model years was their way of achieving their goal. I'm on my third Town Car. I had a 1998, then a 2004, and now I'm driving a 2001.

Hi Anthony. To understand me and the way I'm looking to your videos just imagine '90s in Romania where Dacia 1310 of my father was not an very affordable car back then.
1.3 litre 60hp and almost no option at all. In winter time the heat radiator was so bad designed that you couldn't defrost properly the windows at least. A car with 0 confort. Radio was a option, we never heard of an AC that could exist on cars, automatic gearbox, leather and many more. Because Internet didn't exist was nearly impossible for someone to even believe you speaking about cars somewhere on same planet with such confort.
This is what goes thru my mind watching your videos.

I'm _that guy_ for who this is my favorite this gen of town car. If this were a touring edition (special wheels and dual exhaust) it would be perfect! I love having a sunroof in a black car because it quickly sucks the hot air out helping the air conditioning take over. One small nitpick is the fake chrome bottom trim which I'm not a big fan of (even though my '89 Signature SE has the factory lower chrome).
For $8,000 this is an incredible deal having the common failures already addressed (rear airbags & the intake manifold). If I needed a car for a daily driver I'd already have called. Although it is very temping to sell my '89 to buy this one...
As for practicality, the V8 uses fuel like a modern pickup but for $10-15k less than a comparable late model fusion or taurus this car is worth it. I'd switch the radio for one with apple car play and a backup camera. That is about all a late model has over this car for features.

Beautiful Lincoln. I agree with you about the styling, not a fan of the '98-'03 but I could live with it! Like you, I prefer the 90-97.

Regarding the debate about the chrome on the Town Cars, it depends on the color of the Town Car, the chrome just “pops” on black, white, and burgundy Town Cars, chrome on other color Town Cars is debatable

I have to ask you again.....why dont you have the wheel weights put to the INSIDE? Otherwise you get those pitting marks on the wheels. Beautiful car Anthony.

Anthony makes a good point regarding the undercarriage and the PO performing an oil undercoating and its preservation. I've used Fluid Film which is a lanolin based product and when applied looks very much like this. It tends to last a season and will wear off in areas of high water/salt spray. From experience of living in the NE if this TC had not been treated the frame/undercarriage would look like Raisin Bran at this point in time.

It's crap. Here's a formula that will last year's at a time and cost less than $6. 1 quart of any new or used oil, 1 quart of trans fluid new or used, 1 tube of grease gun grease and a wax ring gasket for toilet. Mix all in a old pot over a burner or heat. Then take that and spray, brush etc all over, in and under. Paps Co worker drove a post ww2 ford sedan daily to work in ford plant in Ohio next to Lake Erie. He asked How do u keep this car looking so good decades later in this weather. He told him this formula. He used it, I used it since a teen in 90s and still do. I kill rust with Ospho if any, or Muratic if heavy and not need mechanical removal, then use a zinc based primer inside frame and under body, then farm implement paint. If u ever sanded on a piece of heavy equipment, u will kill sandpaper so fast. That stuff is amazingly hard. Then after that I spray this formula. No rust for decades. I've tried fluid film, 3m cavity wax, New Hampshire wax etc. Yes they work. But they don't last and u have to reapply every few months. This is a 1 time a year, 2 or 3. Depends on how much u power wash underneath and how much salt and salt brine is on road. Stop wasting money on waxes and protective coatings that don't last. U can mix whatever along with it. I use boiled linseed oil when I want a harder coating. With the other wax it won't crack. U can make it thicker with more wax gasket or thinner with more used oil or fluid. I use my supply of used oils and fluids. Hydraulic works well also. I have alot of it cause I have to flush and change it in all tge equipment yearly. You'll thank me later.

Where it says "TOWN CAR" on the right side of the dash...that is where the bean counters (the same accounting scum that took the hood ornament away) took the chrome plastic "LINCOLN Town Car" emblem that elegantly sat on the dash in 3D
