  • Last night, the Comrades Marathon Association held an emotion-charged special general meeting in Pietermaritzburg to address widespread concerns among runners. Green number holder Rory Steyn invested R8 000 to attend in person. He reports on what went down at the three-and-a-half-hour SGM with BizNews editor Alec Hogg.

Amazing that some individuals feel absolutely entitled to steal and they will fight tooth and nail for that right.

I immediately applied for membership. I might only have completed 5 Comrades marathons, but it is also my proudest medals. Just would like to be part of ensuring if need need be the future of the race. Thank you for standing up for all and those that could not speak out in this regard.

I absolutely concur. This video just came into my CZcams feed and so I thought that I would watch it simply because it piqued my curiosity. I quickly realized how articulate, coherent and how cohesive his talking points were. I had no idea who this gentleman was and so I Googled him. I found a Biznews video in which he was being interviewed by Alec Hogg for his role as the private security officer to Nelson Mandela during Mandela's term as the President of South Africa. Long story short. He is every bit as eloquent then (2 years ago) as he is now. What a pleasure to listen to. 😊

What a waste of time. Three of us left Durban at 3.45 and ended up stuck in traffic on the N3 for 4.5 hours. The road was closed for hours. Eventually was able to turn around at Hammarsdale and go home. I wonder how many other CMA members suffered the same fate?
Thanks to the 410 people who successfully pushed our cause.

Was shocked to hear that Comrades of all things should have been exposed to its own form of 'State capture'. Well done, those CMA members for stepping up to the plate.
