What other fighter in history could boast such a resume, with the possible exception of Muhammad Ali in the 70's AMAZING!!

I mentioned once on another video how Leonard already had a HOF resume by his first retirement. idk if it'll happen again in such a short amount of time w/ the amount of boxing politics that goes on today (and considering how champions rarely fight more than 2x a year nowadays).

@@christusomnipotens3751 Fighters weren't different. The boxing business was different. In order to make a living, you needed to stay busy and it didn't matter whether you were a champion or not. Many of the champions were making purchases in expectations of a match in the NEAR future. Thanks to the broader boxing base from people like some of the old timers and certainly the Ali's and others, boxing has moved into a comfortable position of being able to pay boxers bigger purses. That also draws more people into the sport to participate as combatants and viewers. Capitalism at its most basic level

I just today learned that my old man and Sugar Ray Leonard share a birthday. Sugar is 3 years older than my pops. it's also ironic because I was just watching that Mike Tyson video earlier where he was crying telling SRL how much he meant to him and how beautiful he was. then I watched the Sugar Ray and Wilfredo Benitez fight! then 5 minutes ago this video gets uploaded. been an awesome day.

Nah. You can say that about any of the top fighters in their primes- RJJ, FMW, Duran, SRR. In their primes, they were the best.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I disagree with yours. Robinson went 85-0 as an amateur and in his prime 128-1-2 as a pro. His only loss in this period was to someone who outweighed him by 16 pounds (as La Motta did). It's an easy thing to say 'would have beaten', but I think Leonard would have found it a lot lot more difficult in the ring with Robinson than it is to say it if they'd met in the ring in their primes.

Hagler repeated several times in the first round that SRL "looks a little slow today. He really looks slow..." Strange comment since SRL is loading up whenever he can and probably feels this is all the speed he needs to connect with Kalule. Hagler however does explains over and over that Kalule is waiting for SRL to get in close so he can counter him, which is why having a boxer as analyst is so important. In this way, we learn what's going instead of the announcer droning on that Kaule not doing anything, there's no pattern to his... I wish boxers, could just say, "shut-up and watch the fight!"

By rights Kambosos should have only put his least valuable belt (Ring Magazine) on the line vs Haney in what turned out to be a timid, technical glorified sparring session.
      1 title v 1 title = Fair (Sport)
1 title vs 6 titles (Ring, Lineal, WBA/C/O IBF) = Farce
Haney had done nothing in his career to be in a position to challenge for the 6 portions of a recognised undisputed title, just like Kambosos nor Lopez had.

    工藤政志選手との一戦をリアルタイムで観たので、さすがのレナードも苦戦するかと予想していましたが、あっさりと2階級制覇を果たしました。

Ray Leonard before the retina tear is the greatest fighter in history. He mastered every facet of boxing. He would have beaten Robinson in both of their prime.

No way, Leonard proved iver his whole career he is not at Robinsons level.
He is a beast, but outsmarted by Duran and the original cherry picker.

Lamotta beat robinson as well using similar infighting tactics ...but only once in their multiple fights...Duran was a great lightweight but vs the four kings he has a losing record

@@vagalN Leonard embarrassed Duran in No Mas. No Robinson performance ever comes close to that. Duran is the second greatest fighter ever and Leonard made him look like an amateur. I said Leonard before retina tear. After the retina tear he took a four year lay off and was just a shell of himself.

@borood1188 he was a shell of himself because if all that cocaine.
And he forced Duran into an immdeiatte rematch but never gave Tommy that opportunity- Hearns was only 23 when they first fought.
SRL was a good fighter but for some reason no one ever puts him forward to be the best ever.
He was also a big welterweight- finishing his career as a lightheavy. And still didn"t give Hagler the fight when it was being clamored for.
Fast hands, strong, mobile good chin and can fight. He's a great fighter but Duran still beat him in his absolute prime. I don't think his technique was that great compared to some. When his physical advantages faded- he didn't have the technique to keep up even with Camacho...

@borood1188 ans SRR the original Sugar is said to be the best because of wood of mouth by everyone who saw him. He's like the Jordan of basketball. Gifted.
