Love the music. Trying to wrap my head around what life is like for the people living in these homes. I hope they are being able to cope with the struggle. I also hope they get as many benefits as possible from the oil and gas revenue to make life less difficult for them. Have a nice day.

So much emotion was evoked watching this video. It’s sad how the place looks so rundown. I remember playing in the cemetery as a young boy on Princess street, now it looks like a jungle. You can’t even take flowers to your love ones graves. I used to feel joy about this place, now part of me feel so much hate.

41 years ago Albouystown did not look rundown like that, this it is because of the diaspora, when Burnham had racial tensions high with his dictatorship. We used to walk down punch trench dam and it looked great James street looked, YMCA there were lots of boxing matches there, a few doors down my aunt had a shop where we visited all the time. People left Guyana and their properties and there is no one to care for it so it looks all delipidated.

Hi. As Bangladeshi, you will look like a Guyanese, until your speech lets people know you're not a local. But don't let that deter you, and don't be shy. Regular Guyanese people are very open-minded and will welcome you. Criminals will also welcome you, as they're open to robbing anyone. Make a few work friends and ask them to go around with you to get you acquainted. Buy them a drink or ask them to take you to a reasonably priced but good local restaurant, then pay for the meal as a thank you. Ask them how to determine prices for traveling about (and shopping) without getting cheated. NO jewelry, wear a cheap watch, take around only enough money for the day, Know where NOT to go, especially by yourself, and most especially at night. Basically, act like you're in an unfamiliar city in your home country, and use the same common sense. When walking directly in the street (no sidewalk), notice how local pedestrians walk and somehow don't get run down by the cars. Walk so drivers can predict your movements, otherwise you can get run down. This is one of the most potentially dangerous parts of walking in directly the street. You will absolutely LOVE Guyana, especially as you settle down and start to feel comfortable. Then it will be like your home, or home away from home!

Albouystown was and still IS a great place for Guyanese to live if only the mayor and city council would use the tax payers money to enhance to 'look' cut the sidewalk grass dig the drainage once a year to keep the water flowing, git rid of street side 'mechanic shops' they leave their junk cars too long.
