LA PALMA ASTROVLOG - 'Entre Ciel et Terre' Behind-the-scenes with astrophotographer Alyn Wallace

- In this VLOG especially dedicated to the behind-the-scenes of my latest time-lapse movie ‘Entre Ciel et Terre: La Palma astrolapse in 4K’ ( • ENTRE CIEL ET TERRE - ... , I meet up with the world-famous and super talented Alyn Wallace for a 4-day collaboration on this island of La Palma. Together we planned to shoot still photos, interviews, timelapses. The purpose of it was to make you discover the island and its dark skies in a beautiful way, but we also wanted to show you all the other facets of astrophotography. There’s so much more than setting up your camera somewhere and let it shoot. You have to make a lot of sacrifices and investment in time, energy and ressources to get the shots. You’re gonna have to be willing to ‘get dirty’ and have audacity to take innovative and stunning views, and that’s the story we are telling in this video.
It’s also the occasion for you to make acquaintance with Alyn and get to know his astrophotography background. Great video, which I have only just discovered. Great to see Alyn with you and a shame he is no longer with us. I was left a little confused about where you can and cannot go at night. You were moved on by a security guard for being on private land but you then went on to work very close to the observatories. Is that not also private land?

Bravo Adrien ! Super collab avec Alyn que je ne connaissais pas ! Petite question au passage: as-tu des tips (hormis le pare-buée bien entendu) pour éviter la formation de buée sur tes objectifs au cours de tes time-lapse ? J'ai flingué un time-lapse de presqu'1h30 en me rendant compte trop tard de ce problème. :(
Bonjour! Merci beaucoup! Tu peux utiliser des chauffe gants (gel ou perle), c'est ce que j'utilisais depuis le début et ca marche super bien. Tu dois juste en déposer un ou 2 sur ton objectif et ca fait effet! Sinon oui tu a les bagues chauffantes pas cher que tu france sur une power banque via USB, et ca coute pas cher :)

I’m way over in eastern USA in North Carolina. The Black Mountains are about the coolest high altitude spot by me. I love the countryside where you’re at. It’s amazing over there. Have you ever shot from a boat? That’s tricky but can get you bortle 1. I’m developing a technique for it. Very challenging. Again, awesome video!

Adrien, just one question, how did you charge your battery in those four days in the car？
I have a lot of batteries :) Like a lot! I have 6 small individual batteries for each of my 3 cams, and I have a 10 hour additional battery for each, and add to that USB-connected power banks :) And I also have a USB charger for each, which enables me to charge in the car!
Congrats for your amazing work Adrien... I heard not long time ago from your work (when I read Juan Carlos Cortina talking about It) and the same about Alyn, whom I had the pleasure to meet by chance in Tenerife few days after you were taking those videos.
