Kan means "here". The song says "I was born here.. Here I raised my children.. End for my wanderings". The couple were married at that time but now they still work together but they are not married.:)

    Love this one! Pure Israel
Mediterranean and South Europe trully nailed it in 1991.

Fun fact: the 2 lead singers were married for many years. Their name, Duo Datz comes from his surname, Datz. They are no longer together.

Great reaction!! Yes they were married back then.
Kan means here, its about loving Israel which is our homeland, and buliding your home there with your own two hands, and how simple life in it with friends, and welcoming guests, even if you dont have much- is enough to make you happy!!
One of Israels best songs in ESC, and should have won that year imo.

Great pick of Jess. One of my all time (maybe even my all time) favourite song. They came so close of winning that year. If only Italy had given them the 12 points instead of France. Well, no use crying over spilled milk :)
They performed on the orange carpet this year. So maybe you have seen them there this year.
Kan means 'Here'. The song is about their country Israel. The translation of the first lines of the chorus: Here I was born, here my children were born. Here I built my home with my own two hands.
    And indeed fitting in the traditional Israeli choreograhies of 1978, 1979, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1985, 1989.

Kan is the new broadcaster since two years ago. Before that there was another broadcaster called IBA. So just a coincidence there (or maybe who knows the person who came up with the name of the new broadcaster was inspired by this song).

KAN means “here” in Hebrew and it also symbolizes Israel.
Duo Datz were a couple but they divorced many years ago

Great reaction video. I love your spontaneous response to this old songs which I remember so well (being over 50). Please also react to France 1991 and also Slovenia 1995 and Italy 1984.

    Hi,
    1. Israel's national broadcaster Kan was founded in 2017. Until then, starting in the 1960's, it was the IBA - Israeli Broadcast Authority. So the song has nothing to do with the broadcaster Kan that did not exist at the time.
    2. "Kan" in Hebrew means here. The song is about how everything the singer has and everything he's done was and is here.
    3. The song was actually written for the 1988 Eurovision contest, but was rejected by the performer. Her loss.
    4. Orna and Moshe Datz were a married couple. Having previously performed as part of an ensemble with a fixed repertoire, they married, left the ensemble and began their own act, Sadly, they have since divorced - and, naturally, stopped performing together, each going their separate solo way, although I think they have actually had a couple of reunions.

Kan is one of my favourite Israeli entries and many believe it should have won in 1991. I had it second behind Sweden. The background to Orna & Mashe Datz was already mentioned. The song means "here" (i.e. Israel) and is basically a love song for Israel.
I would love if you would react to Germany 1983 "Rücksicht" by Hoffmann & Hoffmann

This song is fucking amazing. I heard that the man in the couple is gay (not known at time they were married)...not sure if true, good for him either way.

Musically, it is my favourite contest behind 1993. On a production level, it wasn't great at all. Toronto and Gigliola were a train wreck (Toto more so), partly due to the fact that they hosted the entirety in Italian and when using French/English for the voting, there were many mistakes...
