I miss the old AC tractors, they were so easy to work on, compared to today's modern equipment!

When I was younger,my neighbor farmed with a Allis-Chalmers D-17 and a D-19 for many years. He used to plow up and disk my mom and dads monster sized garden with it.(1.5 acre garden)
They were very reliable and started easily in sub-zero tempetures without issue.I can still hear those diesels in the field from many decades ago as I write this 🚜

My dad had a D21 during the 60's and early 70's. He traded it in for our first 7060. You had to wear earplugs when operating this tractor or be deaf for a few days. It was the first tractor I learned to plow and disc with at age 12. Dad bought a cab extension for it. It still was noisy. There was a little box for heat on the floor with antifreeze hoses connected to the motor. The heater was no good. Fuel sticks like the heat packs now was better than the heater. We would take the cab off in the spring. When we used the 7000 series, we were spoiled with the heat, air conditioner and radio. My dad also tractor pulled the D21 in the stock class in the NTPA. My grandfather's AC dealership sponsored dad and dad's brother was the mechanic. It was good advertisement for the dealership.

I love most Allis equipment Love their tractors. I have a G, WD-45, D-12, D-14, D-15, D-17, D-19, 4-170's, 185, 190XT, 6080. The D-14 and D-17 are getting an overhaul the rest are ready when needed. I've got Allis rake and square baler, a 60 All Crop and a K-2 combines. The K-2 plays back up for a International now. Breaks my heart 😔

This got my Persian Orange blood up lol! Even though I don't farm myself, I was raised running A-C equipment, and, I have 2 of our old tractors undergoing restoration in my shop right now. I had to laugh when it said you might work your ground up to 5 times each season. That's SO true! I have a pretty big garden, about 1600 sq. ft. My Husqvarna rear tine tiller (I just had to have an orange tiller lol!), works ground twice each spring and fall. I also have a 2 stroke "mini cultivator" that I use for weeding every weekend during the season. The "cultivator" is red, but, that's close to orange right?!?
