we had a customer who lost their cochlear implants, while some of my colleagues didnt understood the dire situation, i turned up the lights of the restaurant and we took the time looking for it because I know how expensive it is because I was watching your videos. We finally found the impant and our customer was bursting in tears of joy.
I dont know what insurance they have and I use hearing aids, but my insurance will cover one replacement for my left, one for my right. If I need to get an entirely new type of hearing aid, it might change. But I have needed one upgrade thus far, and they reset. But CI are not really "upgradeable" like hearing aids. All this to say, there's probably some kind of insurance policy where if XYZ happens they'll cover at least some of the cost.
@@beth_and_coop does it cover replacements too, like if they're prematurely broken? My only son was born at 27wks, he had to wear $2500 bifocals(at the midline-so his lenses were handcrafted). We had to pay $1k of that. If they were lost or something happened, we paid the full 2500. So glad he is now 19 & no longer QUITE as hard on things-lol
I use a 50 thousand dollar motorized wheelchair my insurance will only replace every 5-10 years. Every time I end up stuck in a pit or almost get hit by a truck, or the fire alarm goes off in my 5 story apartment complex, I freak out because without it I'm trapped.
I need cochlear implants, they still don’t know why I lost suddenly my hearing. On Saturday I have an mri to see if there is a tumor. I hope my insurance pays for it. I have a hearing aid on my other ear and so far it helps bur not enough. I just subscribed to you.
@@beth_and_coop Thanks you! I just wanted to say that you guys are very inspiring, it’s amazing how much you and cooper have grown, you are an amazing mother and I know Cooper’s going places.
Ouch! These aren’t cheap at all. I finally got new Kanso 2 cochlear processors! I love it. I’m thankful that insurance paid in full ( my deductible/co- insurance already met. ). I really hope your insurance pay part of it ( my maybe full). Speaking about wearing glasses for Cooper. I’m wearing glasses/ contact lens. Oh yeah, $$$$$ for only my head ( ears and eyes) Do you have bright colors like stickers or color cover processors? Coopers N5 or N6 is dark brown that will be hard to find. 😢 but I’m happy you found it 😰😰 your mic around your neck is so different. Looks like an iPhone😁. it was a great idea as long he’s wearing phonck ( spelling,?) Jazz that’s tiny! Keep it up! 🤟🏻🤟🏻
As a mommy to 2.. medically fragile kiddos I understand!! My youngest has moderate hearing loss in both ears. She wears a double baha and glasses my oldest is t1d and has a cgm plus his pump. The amount of medical supplies lord..
Just curious, is there a reason that you still talk verbally to Coop even when he doesn't have his ears on? It seems contradictory to me, but I'm not you 🙃
I would talk to him verbally all the time. He will and is learning so many skills already. My son is non verbal and I still talk to him verbally even though he also uses other forms of communication. We use all sorts of forms of communication around here.
@@buildingupfaith250 Non-verbal isn't the same as deaf, though. Being deaf means even with hearing aids and/or cochlear implants, things are still missed, and sound is mechanical; it's not the same as being naturally hearing. If he knows sign, then sign should be used in and around speech all the time, forcing him to be fully 'hearing' and leaving him without language to fill in the blanks he misses either from the CIs or lipreading, which isn't something people can do 100%, some words look the same or hard to catch, people need to be looking at you at the right distance, etc. If he knows sign, then why not use it around spoken language, too, because things happen, implants fail, whatever, laughing it off and using forgetting isn't an excuse. The kid needs access to all language options at all times just to fill in the blanks, otherwise it's frustrating and it's exhausting, and it means lagging behind in the end.
Oh no it looks like it was right there were you were standing you might have stepped on it may be cracked it that's horrible cuz they're so expensive. I don't think people realize how incredibly high-tech these things are. It still blows my mind how they're able to put such advanced stuff in such a small little package.

Oh well done!!! You super star they will be so grateful 🙏
So glad you found the device! The implant stays in the head.
❤
I am deaf too! And I also have cerebral palsy! I am 15 years old and I love being able to hear!!
I understand the pain because I’m actually a deaf kid with cochlear implants…. My parents told me that I hate it so much when I was a kid
He’s little voice!! love it!!❤
He is just the most gorgeous, precious child
Thanks for sharing your lives with us. It’s been both educational and entertaining and always inspiring. ❤

My insurance does not cover my hearing aid.
@@beth_and_coop I love u and Cooper yall make my day❤
these things should be 100% covered by universal health care... these prices gatekeep who gets to hear and who doesn't. what a shame.
much love sweetie. you are such a good momma
I walk around with a $7k insulin pump in my pocket. It ends up dropping so many times and every time it does it gives me a mini heart attack.

Yes! That’s just to keep it on for now

I'm sure you guys have thought of it, but could you put bright paint so something on them to make them show up better when they get dropped?
But he’s amazing and so stinking cute.

Because I forget 🤣
When he has them on all day and then doesn’t, it takes me a bit sometimes to pivot. But he also lip reads!
