Fantastic daylily garden-I really must visit. Daylilies are perfect to grow on a sunny hillside. They can take the heat and they are one of the best plants I know for fighting erosion.

I planted the Bogeyman variety last fall along the river bank. They are growing very slowly and no blooms yet, very unlike the Daylilies I grew in jungle-like Virginia for many years. Yours is the first channel to say they are heavy feeders and need high nitrogen fertilizer. Thanks!

I realize you're the experts but I've grown many daylilies for over 30 years and have never fed a daylily and have plenty of heads on massive plants. Vicki ( Wisconsin)

Mulch (organic material) on top of soil does not remove nitrogen. If that were true than the wooded areas would be low on nitrogen from mulching itself every year. Watch Back to Eden in CZcams and Kiss the Ground on Netflix and you'll know a whole lot more about soil and why chemical fertilizers are unnecessary in nature's system

You are correct it most certainly does not deplete nitrogen to any kind of measurable level.
