I remember the award in 86 when the young lady handed it to Joan instead of John and he was so angry he wouldn't speak. He snapped at Joan and said "You've done the talking" Or "you've said enough" something along those lines. I've always wondered if that was the true reason she wasn't there for this award. Always thought he was one classy man until that night in 86
She went against the agreement, raced up there, as usual, to be first and in the limelight. It's clear from the other videos. Her ego was out of control and she wasn't liked by the rest of the cast. Being excellent at your craft doesn't excuse bad behaviour.

The female presenter with the big hair isn't that Joanna from the 80s sitcom NEWHART? Mary Frann? Love her dress. And yeah no Linda Evans no Joan Collins very odd. They all look great up there though.

It's 9th season, last, improved greatly. They had a new story editor, writer. ABC got sick of the expense and put it in a brutal timeslot against CHEERS. IT should have ran at least two more years.

Joan was busy and couldn't make to the awards ceremony clearly otherwise she would of been there
