All of those people are so lucky to have an event like that happen within their lifetimes.
I wish I was a 90s kid
@@robloxisthebest5588, i WisH I wAs A 2090's kID.
I was at the Greenwich Royal Observatory the home of the Meridian where East Meets West, I stood on the Meridian Line so my left foot was in the East & my right foot was in the West of 0 Degrees as Midnight stuck as part of a British Gas sponsored night of music. It was ACE!!!!
I just realized how much nostalgia hurts,. Ahhh the memories are so painful even though it was happiness, but you just want to stop time and relive past moments again
I Think maybe that's what heaven is, we get to go back to these times we miss.
cant believe this was 12 years ago i remember this like it was yesterday!
27 years old now - remember standing on the Southbank as an 8 year old, and seeing nothing but yellow and green in the sky. Beautiful memories!
I was 12, I was there somewhere along the river, I remember the the sky being full colours as well! It was a great time 😊
Watching this 3 minutes before 2019. Cool stuff.
1 year ago saddddddd
wtaching this now makes me feel so nostalgic and think about life ..i was 5 at the time..
I remember watching this live. Having arrived to London in 1998, I have great memories of these times
I remember this night so well. I was 15 and miserable because I couldn't get to Cardiff to see the Manic Street Preachers millennium concert. Mom said I could go but my Dad wouldn't drive me down there to see them. As such I remember getting drunk on the white wine I was allowed to drink as a peace offering.
4 days later I was in central London on a school performing arts residential which was pretty epic.
Wooooh! That's me at 5min 57sec with the flag. Edinburgh was amazing that night.Thank you for posting this, brings back memories.
Watching this in my home in Brighton, England, just 5 and a half hours before the UK welcomes the 2020s. Where has the last 20 years gone? Why does time appear to go quicker as one gets older?
@electrogeek77 Hello there! Thank You for your comments. Bear in mind this was the Millennium celebration, with much excitement and joviality. In the UK we usually celebrate the New Year like this, though with not as much 'punch' as the Millennium celebrations attained.
In the US, we usually celebrate New Years in a fun, cheesy, almost tacky sort of way. This was completely different - the differences of each region shown had more of an intimate feel, and was beautiful.
Wow, such a rare event. That doesn't happen every thousand years... Oh, wait...
I wasn’t alive for this lol, was born 5 months after but still pretty cool
I still remember this really well
Yes it has, and what 10 years they have been....
Thanks for your comments.
20 years ago. WOW.
thanks, @GLFVIDEO !
Sad for anyone who died before 2000 they missed the new millennium
I remember it so well, happy new year then checking to see if you still had a signal on your mobile phone
I was just over 3 months old then
Then we didn't have Twitter, Facebook, You Tube, things that are inconceivable now not to have.
*The Second Millennium has left the chat*
Handsaw [ESK] also called the 1000s.
Yeah
@chu6466
Exactly why I uploaded the VT. Thanks for your comment.
GLF
Anyone watching in 2019?
Nexus RBLX I am
Yep
Yes
Born in September 2000.
1:46 that sentence pretty much summed up the feeling of hope people had about the new millennium that it was a chance for a new beginning, but now 24 years later, the world is a completely different place and for the mostpart not in a good
way
19 years later
I was 9 years old 😁
ok thank you!
The highlight of millennium celebration was Regine Velasquez sang at the top of Peninsula Manila, ay grabeh ang ganda non, si Inang kumanta sa tuktok ng PenMan?
@games4356
It's not the world that's the problem, it's the people that inhabit it. I totally agree with your sentiments, and Thank You for taking the time to comment.
GLF
1:50 that's 12th doctor
Hope you can! Thanks
Cool
@quakelive1997
If you look closely enough you can just about see it in the River Thames shots. Of course there was a H&S problem with it, whch was not resolved in time for these celebrations, so it was not highlighted in this VT...

@MrChrisalf2004
It was probably the best money could buy at the time; it was over a million pounds worth, Pyrotechnics and technology have come a long way in eleven years.
@Professor6871
Yes, and it was only 11 years ago!
GLF
I was drunk no recollection 😂😂😂

@aop2006
I know what you mean, time it seems, does appear to 'fly by'.
GLF
Here's a different question - what's the name & source of the track you use for your end credit? I've heard it used abroad as a TV station ident, so I'm guessing it's from a production library. Thanks!
It is a production library piece. Sorry to have to tell you this but I cannot remember the name of it! If I can find it I'll let you know.

@TheCheesyPrincess
Hi,
I am glad to have been of service. You can redirect all your family and friernds to see you on the 'telly'now!
Regards,
GLF
@Planetoxo
Thanks for the explanation. I understand your point of view, it was just a number. I suppose the UK, for political and worldwide prominence, had to waste a million pounds on fireworks. that said, the fireworks around the globe were breathtaking, Australia and France to name just a few. .Talking numbers, I suppose it's only once every 1000 years!.
GLF
@rlmorgan95
Yes, and not always for the better.
GLF
@Scrabbler27
I know what you mean!.
@Planetoxo Don't be a party pooper! What could be better than this for the world to celebrate?
Imagine if Y2K had happened and planes had dropped out of the sky. What a great build up that would have been
@PaperCrafts141
Health and Safety!
GLF
@electrogeek77 from your expression i`d say you half way from doing that
When you’re born 8 years late and was even too young to see the 2010s start, but will see the 2020s start, which will probably be just like this.
2000 was the start of a whole new millennial, there was no commotion when 2010 started, there won’t be any for 2020.
lets hope the world stays together after 2012.
Don't worry it has
Going downhill mate but we will survive
