I spent many hours as a medic on chinooks. I miss the sound of the APU and the smell of hydraulic fluid. The rear cabs bore witness to things people shouldn’t see but they always brought everyone home. Dependable and spacious (for a helicopter) to work in. May they long continue to be the workhorses and life savers that they have so reliably become.
I have seen these machines many times this year. They flew across our country from Germany to the Baltics. They flew as material transport in the UH-60 and AH-64D groups. They always flew in 16-20 member groups, it was an impressive sight. These Japanese machines are amazingly colored to look better than US olives. Beautiful video as always. Thank you 😃👍
Nice i remember getting a lift in the British Chinnook from HMS Illustrious to HMNB clyde in full military gear and rifle it was only a 1 hour flight but watching this reminds me of those days of in the military.
One of the most iconic helicopter designs if you ask me. Versions with enlarged tanks and nose radome do look the best. Compared with the JGSDF Chinooks, the JASDF camouflage scheme has a lot more contrast. All the features mentioned above make them look a bit like rotary-winged C-1 transports. The scene at 5:53 demonstrates this nicely.

ふだん肉眼で見ていて細部まではわからない知らない顔が見られた感じです。
U-680Aの作品の時も思いましたが、自分がパイロットや搭乗員、整備などに関わっていたら

遠くを飛んでいる時、横から見ると、あ、カエルさん、と思っていましたが。真後ろから見たら、さらにカエル顔で驚きました。
「チヌたん」という愛称もほほえましいですね。
カエルと言えば、先日三沢のカエルさんが緊急着陸して、全機訓練見合せになってしまい心配しています。
隊員さんが無事でほっとしましたが、早く原因が見つかって三沢に戻れるといいですね。
未だにこのタイプのヘリをつい「バートル」と呼んでしまうジジイです。
初めて見たのが明野基地。
機内に入れたのは八尾だったかな・・・バブルウィンドウに首を突っ込み「こんな風に見えるんだぁ」と一人悦にはいってました。
燃料タンクを増設した分、迫力がありますよね。
バートル・・・もといチヌークはこのタイプが好きです。
CH-46 バートルも昔は入間基地にもいたようです。
夏に浜松エアパークに行った時、ファントムの後ろにいました。
基地の一角。
そこに黙々と、
様々な動作の訓練に勤しむ
CH-47J Chinook。
その精緻な動きに引き込まれます。
知らず知らず見入ってしまいますが、
チヌークとコックピット・クルーの両者が
互いのパートナーシップを確かめ合いながら
訓練を進めているようにも見えてきます。
一般の目に触れることのない、
この機体だからこそ託せる困難な任務。
見ていて信頼感が高まります、とても。

空自のカエルといえば、
黄色いスカーフ。
そして頼もしいカエルは、入間にも！
CH-47 チヌークは空飛ぶロールシャッハと呼ばれており、見る人によって違う動物に見えます。
ロールシャッハエフェクトは、動物に似た機体の形状を解釈するうちに観察者の攻撃意識が弱まり、
無意識が最大限に表面化しているうちに離脱逃走するというもので多くの防衛軍事研究者に支持されています。

The successor to the Chinook is a wonderful model that has been completed to the extent that it is called the Chinook.
Typical, incredibly clean JASDF machines, beating the air into submission while performing precise maneuvers. Banzai!

Of course, they are also hard workhorses in Japan.
