  • Coconut Milk is so simple to make. It takes only 2 ingredients and a few minutes to make. Along with Intermittent Fasting comes a healthy lifestyle. Instead of buying coconut in the store that is full of preservatives and stuff I can't pronounce, make your own at home. This tastes better and is inexpensive to make.
The book I got the recipe from:
"Glow- The Nutritional Approach to Naturally Gorgeous Skin", by Nadia Neumann:
    amzn.to/3l7Z0xy
    Recipe:
    4 cups of filtered water
1 1/2 cups of unsweetened shredded coconut
1 TBSP vanilla extract (optional for sweetness)
    1. blend water and coconut
    2. place in a saucepan and get to hot, but not boiling. turn off burner and let mixture cool for a half hour.
    3. strain out coconut over a bowl. Pour coconut milk into a container and leave in the refrigerator up to 5 days.
    4. The coconut milk will separate when it sits. Just simply shake before using.

I’ve been making coconut milk for a couple of months now but instead of cooking it the recipe that I found was a cup and a half of shredded unsweetened coconut and 4 cups of warm water in a high-powered blender and blend for two minutes. Then you squeeze it through a nut milk bag. I love having this around and always try to have it in my refrigerator.❤❤❤

Looks great and simple............thanks for sharing.
PS What I ended up trying was blending 1 cup of shredded coconut and 1\2 cup of quick oats with about a half gallon of distilled water. Then strained it. It really is delicious. I can put it in my coffee and just drink a glass plain. I did also add a pinch of salt before blending.

You're welcome! :). Let me tell you since making this video and reading the comments, I have stopped warming the coconut first. Now, I just put it in the blender and blend it up. So now it is even simpler.

I love C .Milk and cook with it, buying the canned option is now too costly.
It has a subtle healthy flavor to stovetop curry chicken with onions, potatoes, peas, carrots or spinach.
So true, all the grocery offerings of container milk alternatives are loaded with additives.
Tfs, I make banana smoothies often.
Making this is a breeze compared to almond milk, plus the coconut is much less expensive.

I didn't know either or I would have started it years ago! I just posted a video on how to make almond milk, which I also had no idea I could make because I thought it would be hard....So easy! No warming of anything needed. Here is that video if it interests you too.

Just to let you know, Nancy....after the comments from people I stopped heating the coconut first. In the book I read, that is how they did it, which is why I did it that way. So now, I simply put the 1 cup of coconut shreds in 4 cups of water, blend it and strain off the coconut shreds. It is sooo fast to make!

For almond milk you can use vanilla and or pitted dates to sweeten, plain or sweetened you do add a dash of salt to the almonds and water, blend for a couple minutes and strain, no heating up on the stove. Sandy, are you doing anything with the coconut pulp or just tossing it out? 🤔 being way less expensive than almonds I'm thinking I wouldn't mind tossing it. Thank you, another great video ❤️

I make homemade almond milk and it is so delicious 😋 and simple to make as well. However, I always struggle with what to do with the pulp. I have put it on my cereal, in a smoothie and even made cookies with it but I can never keep up with the amount of pulp. I don't want to throw it away so then I stop making the milk. It's a vicious cycle lol because I want my almond milk. The store bought is full of ingredients I don't want just as you mentioned. I have coconut in the freezer and so I will definitely try this. I've also made oat milk but didn't care for it that much. I use nut bags to strain the milks that I bought on line but absolutely love your lingerie bag idea 😊

I have been making coconut milk for probably over 15 years, in my Vitamix. I buy bulk, as in 25 pound bags from a couple of different companies. For those like me on a fixed income, you can split that cost with someone. I just use the coconut shreds and water. I know people think it has to be hot or warm. It doesn't. Cold is 100% fine. I also don't waste money on a nutbag. I tell everyone to go to Lowe's or Home Depot and buy a PAINT STRAINER for a couple of bucks. I had a few people push back on that because "the material is toxic".. it isn't folks. You can wash the strainer in bleach, castille soap, or some other natural cleansing product and call it a day.
Many of us are hurting financially and there ARE ways to save. The coconut milk is great for a variety of reasons but the fat content itself is amazing. It lasts 7-10 days (tops) in the fridge..... and you save a TON of money doing it yourself!
