  • Malcolm Toft PUNISHR is an analogue harmonic distortion processor in 500 Series format, with four tonal shaping paths designed for mixing or tracking.
PUNISHR offers three switchable distortion paths that can be used individually or in tandem: SYM (symmetrical distortion), ASYM (asymmetrical distortion) and IRON (transformer saturation).
The 1970's-inspired EQ section can be placed pre or post the distortion path and there is a unique SUM mode where all three distortion circuits are fed simultaneously.
PUNISHR is designed to "punish your audio" with a wide range of harmonic distortion applications, from adding energy to lifeless tracks, an element of bite and grit to mixes or sonic mayhem when required!
No talking, just audio so you can make up your own mind...

Good God--- it's like someone was listening to me think of what I wanted in 500 series distortion. Ordering two immediately!

Sounded amazing on the Bass. Wouldn’t mind running my Moog through this.

The EQ is smooth and pleasant. Not tubey warm (thankfully) but it opens frequencies in a nice way.

Where in the chain is it used best with a EQ and Compressor?

I think the secret to this unit is to be subtle with it. Maybe it only sounds best when you add a touch of distortion here and there to make tracks stick out in the mix. Otherwise this unit sounds horrible when you turn the knobs up.

Thanks for the feedback. We’ve found it works really well if driven hard with the Dry/Wet control used as a “fine” mix control to introduce the amount of saturation you need - essentially a parallel mix control 👍

I’m interested in the multitude of options, building a analog chain and this may beat out the HRK harmonics processor, or channel strip..been waiting on a video
