I just got a 6 piece Hitachi 18v set, mainly for the impact and circular saw. I tried the circular saw and it cut like butter. I’ve never liked using circular saws but this Hitachi really impressed me.

I have a Hitachi 18v hammer drill that is around 13 years old. Been through hell and still going strong. Your test product will be finding it's way to my garage soon. The old one? Time for a good cordless in the barn.

I have a Hitachi 14.4V regular drill that's almost as old as yours and it's still working as good as when it was new. It's not been through heavy use, mostly smaller home projects, but still, I'm very pleased with it. It's got quite impressive power for being just a 14.4V drill, on low gear it's got more than enough torque to twist itself out of my hands if it binds up, it's not a problem to use 100mm holesaws or even bigger with it.

I love mine, but I dropped my drill from 5 ft and the base broke off from the handle. I called their customer service and was informed that my warranty had run out after one year. The impact drill still runs great but one of the two batteries died only after one year of use.

I really enjoy this video, like how the drill has been tested , because it says a lot.
Now I would like to see you do a test with the DeWalt. I know its been around for years and is it better then the Hitachi drill.

Why would I use one of these over the other? I have this set, should I update to the new triple hammer impact driver? Or the updated cordless drill?

I have the same set as yours in the video. Both batteries 3.0 are fully charged. Yet, one battery wont turn tools on. When i place the battery in any hitachi metabo charger, it blinks very fast? Any solutions ?

Mine is still going after three years at five days a week. I install remote car starters and car audio so most of it is light duty. I keep thinking I need a JDM Makita but there is no reason.

Hitachi has rebranded to Metabo HPT since this video was released. This set would be the equivalent to the pair in the video: low.es/3SyT254

You should print model number of these tools tested. Don't believe you would get this type of performance from Lowes $99 special they have going on now for two-tool purchase for the home owner. Big quality difference between Pro model and Home models. Home Model # is KC18DGLS Item #: 876683

Good review, but I won't be buying it from Lowes! I went in my local store in Chicago to check out some fathers day deals. I saw some product bundles that had the drill, impact driver & saw combos- in the sales paper this Sunday. The products weren't located near any doors and the store also has employees stationed at the exit door to check receipts- which means no one can just walk out the door with merch!
Well... I noticed these green security devices on a lot of these bundled tool packages, and lifted a box to read the contents and other info. Just merely lifting the box caused this obnoxious green alarm to go off. An employee had to come and disarm it. I inquired whether you need an associate to get the product, because it's on the sale floor not a glass case! There was no notice to customers to ask for assistance. He just shrugged his shoulders and said he didn't know anything. I just walked out the store with no intent to ever shop there for electric tools or much of anything. This store has just raised the bar on alienating customers. You don't feel like a guest, you feel like an intruder!

We apologize about your poor experience in one of our stores. We'd like to get more information so we can better assist. Please send an email to CareFB@lowes.com and use subject line YT-48. Thanks!

I don't know if a memo was sent out to stores, but I made another visit today and experienced a completely different store. I was greeted by at least 5 workers which never happened in the years I've been to the store. It was definitely a more pleasant experience. Customer confidence restored!
