Gojira has been involved in environmental issues through their music with songs like Amazonia and Toxic Garbage Island, as well, they had a boat with the Sea Shepard organization named after them as recognition of their support. Glad you're checking out more Gojira. Thank you! I just got back into music a few years ago and along with Gojira I've also discovered bands like Periphery and TesseracT which I like a lot. Cheers🤘
Always nice seeing someone discover Gojira. They definitely have many activist songs like that. I would recommend some of their older songs, personally, like "The Art of Dying", "Silvera", "Toxic Garbage Island", "The Gift of Guilt", for example. Looking forward to seeing you enjoy those.
Great reaction! Always nice to see more people enjoying their music ^^ I don't know what happened to the audio after the 8:00 mark, that's a bummer but hey, I've heard the song before! The boing boing instrument is a mouth harp btw haha.
This song is not only a lament and call to action about the Amazon, but it also is a homage to Sepultura. Gojira is very open about the bands who influenced them. Along with the release of this as a single, they held a fundraiser to build healing huts for indigenous people of the Amazon - pretty sure they raised over $300,000. Gojira is worth your time for a much deeper dive. Try the official videos for L’Enfant Sauvage, or Vacuity. They are incredible live (I’m seeing them a week from now in Portland ME) - for live videos check out Ouroboros live at Eurockeennes 2009, or Where Dragons Dwell live at Hellfest 2013. Thanks for your reaction!
Thank you for the insight into the band. I am glad you mentioned Sepultura. I almost mentioned them in the video, but wasn’t quite sure. Also thank you for the suggestions, I will definitely check them out.
Together with European bands like for example Opeth (Sweden), Rammstein (Germany), Jinjer (Ukraïne), Nightwish (Finland) Gojira belongs to the absolute top of the o so diverse metal heap. Live they are probably one of the best all round. You can find some twenty live tracks or more on YT that are all fantastic.
this the recent stuff ,it's awesome because Gojira is awesome , but i would suggest to go back in time , and listen their ealier more technical stuff first to have an idea of where they come from , songs here are from the first albums to the last , here is an ultimate playlist so you don't have to search xd Terra incognita /the link From mars to sirius Remembrance from the link alive 2003 The heaviest matter of the universe ( studio or live at brixton ) Clone live vieilles charrues 2010 Flying whales Space time the link alive 2003 where Dragons Dwell live hellfest 2013 Love live garorock 2009 From the sky live bordeaux 2009 Blow me away You niverse live hellfest 2019 Backbone , live at brixton wisdom comes , live brixton 2013 Ocean Planet Fire is everything live hellfest 2013 in the wilderness Death of me live link alive 2003 To sirius The way of all flesh Oroborus ( live eurockenne 2009 ) esoteric surgery ( one of the hardest gojira song ) Toxic garbage island live hellfest 2016 wolf down the earth a sight to behold live eurockeene 2009 Vacuity ( live vieilles charrues 2010 ) The art of dying ( studio or live bordeaux 2009 ) The way of all flesh live garorock 2009 or bordeaux 2009 ) l'enfant sauvage Magma L'enfant sauvage live or studio Silvera ( live hellfest 2016 or studio ) the axe live at brixton Stranded ( live poland 2019 or studio ) Pain is a master Pray ( live at red rocks ) Mouth of khala Low lands ( about the passing of mother duplantier during the album recording explosia live at brixton this emptiness Fortitude born in winter Born for one thing ,sphinks , ,our time is now
@@MattsMoshPit1 Since you said you have a hard time somewhat with harsh vocals, I would recommend going from most recent albums (big names) to older ones. This band started as a Death Metal band, and have gotten progressively well... Progressive over the decades with cleaner singing while still being very heavy. I think you'll definitely be overwhelmed by their older stuff if you jump right into it !
@@Lamren I actually don’t mind harsh vocals, it’s really just a matter of being prepared for them. For instance, I found Lorna Shore recently and really like them. I was just caught off guard the first time I heard them. The vocals can also kill the song for me. For example anything by Megadeth or Over Kill, I really like the music, but the vocal tone just isn’t for my ears. I have nothing against them, just not for me. Anyway thank you for the suggestions, I will definitely be checking more out by Gojira. Thank you for watching

Sorry about the audio, it sounded good on my side. Also thank you for clarifying the mouth harp (another instrument I need to learn to play).
