    There are 100s of drive pedals on the market. This makes it so difficult to choose! This one stands out from the crowd though... Based on the UA610 studio preamp, Origin Effects have disrupted the scene with their new DCX Bass Tone Shaper and Drive pedal.

    I will admit - prior to listening to this demo, I had listened to other demos thinking "This sounds like crap"!! This sounds quite nice. Very amp like sound.

    I love this! I like just a little bit of hair on bass and this does it great. I might have to get one.

    I'm getting one ... both the cali 76 and the DCX.
    Keep making these demos bro.

    What a great demo of the pedal. On a side note, is that yellow bass an Epiphone Modern Newport? I had the chance to play one around the holidays, and it was one of the best short scale basses I've ever picked up. It punches far above its weight, and is a real nice treat to guitar-primary players like me whose hands are used to the smaller scale. It's not quite AS short as the Ibanez Mikro basses, but it has some fantastic sounds. I'm sure the pickups on that little monster are a big contributor to how good you make this pedal sound.

    another epic content as always. I am currently using a black edition DCX Bass in EQ mode as a tone shaper with my Darkglass Alpha Omega Photon. Now, I'm just waiting for my OE Bass Rig 64 Black to arrive to add to my minimalist fly rig. I plan to place the Bass Rig at the end of the chain (EBMM Stingray 4 > DCX Bass > DG Alpha Omega Photon > 64 Black). I intend to use the DCX Bass as a boost or for my clean tone, and have my Darkglass drive the Bass Rig. Considering that they are all preamps, would it be too much to have three preamps on one board? If you can please create a content stacking pre amps like origin with darkglass would be killer.

    Got one incoming... Not sure if I'll place it in low drive mode before the compressor, or higher drive mode after the compressor. Suggestions?

    • @JonnyDibble
      @JonnyDibble  Před rokem

      Congrats 😄 Tough one! For me, I like drives after compression, but I do like the idea of the lower gain pushing the compressor a bit. I tend to go Preamp, Compressor, Drive. So... both!? 😅 Overall I reckon after the Compressor

    • @DrKeremKoseoglu
      @DrKeremKoseoglu Před rokem +1

      @@JonnyDibble I got mine and I agree with you. When I put DCX behind the compressor, the compressor kinda takes away from what DCX has to offer. When I put it after the compressor, DCX can color my signal more significantly; and the compressor protects DCX from peaks; enabling a more consistent tone.

    Yo Jonny!! Unrelated question to the video, but does your 40th ann Squier P bass hum real bad? Mine just started doing it recently, or at least I've just recently noticed it. I'm going to try shielding it but I wonder if you experience this or maybe I've got a ground wire coming loose?

    • @JonnyDibble
      @JonnyDibble  Před rokem +1

      Hi! Sorry to say I've got no humming in mine. Definitely sounds like a grounding issue!

    • @Basstech_
      @Basstech_ Před rokem +1

      Mine has started doing the same thing! I had it checked over by a local tech and it turns out the issue is within the pickup. I just need to take it back to the shop I got it from and they will replace the pickup for free! If your noise goes away when you touch the strings/tone knob, try putting your finger on one of the pickup pole pieces and if the noise gets louder, its the pickup like mine.

    I do have a question about sponsored videos on this channel. When you say the pedal has been sent to you for review, do you get to keep the pedal, send it back when you’re done with it, or have the option to purchase at a discount? It is important to have this information. Thx.

    • @JonnyDibble
      @JonnyDibble  Před 11 měsíci

      Hi! It’s different from brand to brand. In this instance, I was given the product to keep. This is fairly standard for pedal demos from “influencers” (don’t like that word haha)

    • @collegeofcool8109
      @collegeofcool8109 Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@JonnyDibble thank you for your honest answer. Much appreciated. I hope you will consider evolving your channel so that it differentiates itself from Patrick’s. We need more real reviews, equally negative to positive.
      Just promoting gear is boring, and brings credibility down. Cheers.

    • @JonnyDibble
      @JonnyDibble  Před 11 měsíci

      @@collegeofcool8109 No worries! Honesty is my policy. I’ve received gear I’ve given not so good reviews for. Regardless of my view, I’ll review! Getting gear for free is important for intermediate channels though. It helps lessen the financial burden of growing the channel. I agree you shouldn’t really accept money for a review, I never do. But yeah that’s my take 😊 Cheers!
